Frostwinked

MAC Frostwinked Extra Dimension Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a pale, white gold with a gold-to-green shifting sparkle. It had sheer coverage applied dry with semi-opaque coverage applied with a dampened brush. The consistency was drier and on the flakier side, so the product needed to be applied with fingertips or using a dampened brush to help the powder come together and apply more evenly to the skin. It wore well for seven hours on me with minor fallout over time.

It's Snowing

MAC It’s Snowing Extra Dimension Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, plummy pink with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque coverage applied dry, and the color itself appeared lighter and more faded compared to application with a dampened brush, where it was fully opaque and a bit deeper. The texture was smoother and blendable, and it was the easiest to work with out of the four I tested. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours.

Delicate Drift

MAC Delicate Drift Extra Dimension Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a light, orange-toned gold base with peach-to-pink shifting sparkle. It had semi-sheer coverage applied dry, which intensified to mostly opaque coverage when applied with a dampened brush. The consistency was drier and with the amount of sparkle, almost gritty to the touch, so it did not work well dry as it had a lot of fallout and did not adhere well to the lid. With a dampened brush, it went on more smoothly and had more coverage, though I would recommend an adhesive base (even someting like MAC Fix+ helps a lot) to maximize coverage, evenness of application, and wear. On its own, it lasted for six hours (which is, surprisingly, what the wear time is marketed as) with minor fallout (used with a dampened brush).

Stylishly Merry #2

MAC Stylishly Merry #2 Extra Dimension Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, golden copper base with gold-to-pink shifting sparkle. The texture was drier and looser with noticeable sparkly bits, so it was not particularly easy to use dry, as there was a lot of fallout and the color went on unevenly. With a dampened brush or over an adhesive base, it applied with better, more even coverage and looked smoother overall. It lasted for seven hours on me with slight fallout over time (applied with a dampened brush).

Last year’s holiday shadows from Lancome included one called Brune Glace. It looks like an exact (and I do mean exact) duplicate for It’s Snowing!

Sigh, the packaging is just so pretty with these eyeshadows. I bought a couple of shades and am happy with them overall, but I was definitely swayed more by the packaging and presentation than anything. Extradimension eyeshadows are always kind of sheerer to me and fade faster than regular eyeshadows anyway, even with spraying my brush or using a tackier base, so I knew these probably were going to perform similarly.

I do hope they restock these so people can get another chance at buying them!

Shimmer and Spice is now available on the MAC website. I just bought one, may want to hurry over. I hope they restock Stylishly Merry because I really want that one.

Thanks Tiffanie! I went to my MAC store yesterday and picked it up. They said MAC will probably restock the eye shadows. I really like Stylishly Merry duochrome finish. I don’t have anything similar in my stash. Surprisingly they also had the other shadows in stock. All of the other stores I checked were out of all of the Extra Dimension holiday eye shadows.

I adore the packaging and these shades this year but MAC single shadows are still too expensive for me right now.

I was able to try them out in store on Sunday all were sold out and despite how much I like them I’m still say they are dupeable for sure.

Frostwinked which looked nice, looks almost pure white on my pale skin due to the lack of contrast. lol

I’m kind of obsessed with the packaging this year. Next paycheck I might cave and pick up the one highlighter if it’s still in stock in store… I splurged on the large lip kit…….. 🙂

I ordered t’s Snowing and Stylishly Merry, both coming on Friday! Can’t wait. I love the sparkly packaging, snowflake embossing and colors, esp. the uniqueness of Stylishly Merry, so if there are some flaws, hoping I can fix. It’s nice to see MAC put some effort and creativity into a collection, even if results aren’t perfect

I looked online for these THE DAY they were released and the one I wanted was already sold out. WHY do companies insist on doing this? They know they are going to have a lot of demand so they produce about one quarter of what people want. If they want to sell their stuff that way, they ought to hold a lottery or better yet, an auction. Then they can rake in a lot of money and disappoint people who can’t afford the admission cost for “extra rare” products. It really turns me off MAC that they do this. It’s not like this is the first time and they “didn’t know” how great demand was going to be for this pretty stuff. But then, I guess I could always look on eBay and find it for ten times what MAC sold it to the eBay seller for.

Bless you Christine!
I was just about to jump on my bike and head down to my closest MAC store (kidding) I was so taken by It’s Snowing. Then I noted the dupe for BH Foil Eyes #10 and began rooting through my drawers. Voila. Saved me $26+, and the heartache of it being sold out already.

Was looking forward to your review, especially to see how Stylishly Merry and Delicate Drift are different. I applaud MAC for a most festive array of products though the rollout, product availability (online and in-store), and timing need improvement. I bought the mini lipsticks for my teenage niece and they arrived gift wrapped and awaiting Santa. There *might* be a Peach/Show Gold gift under my tree.

Hey Christine! Happy Holidays to you and everyone! How would you say “It’s Snowing” compares to Urban Decay’s Roach or Chanel’s Hesitation? I like the review, ranking and look of it. I have a weakness for Rosewoods. Is it a must have would you say?
