Urban Decay Pyro, Grind, Catcall Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Pyro
Urban Decay Pyro Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a clear base with multi-colored glitter that seemed to shift a bit. It had semi-sheer “coverage” in the form of glitter but it performed best layered over something more opaque (like another eyeliner). The eyeliner was thin, watery, but it spread fairly evenly in a single stroke. It wore well for nine hours with minimal fallout.

Formula Overview
$21.00/0.25 oz. - $84.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "buildable" with "superfine glitter" that "dries down quickly and really stays put." For more opaque coverage, the brand recommends removing the wiper (the black component inside the opening of the tube) to get a lot more product on the brush, though I've found this to be messy and easy to over-apply (with a very long dry-down time).
When the wiper is left in, it is a fairly sheer to semi-sheer coverage product that is difficult to get in a long, even line. My best advice is to apply in short strokes and going back for more product as needed or use a separate brush to apply. Once in place, the formula lasts a really long time--eight to nine hours--with minimal fallout.

Grind
Urban Decay Grind Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) seemed like a pale pink shade initially but appeared more like a multi-colored, almost duochrome-like mix of glitter particles suspended in a clear or lightly pink-tinted base (looked clear on my skin tone). The texture was thin, lightweight, and watery without being too runny, so it dried down quickly and didn’t pull into my fine lines when I used it onm y lower lash line. It lasted for nine hours on me and had minimal fallout.

A clear base is not a bad thing. It can be used over any other eyeliner to make it sparkle.
I’ve always steered clear of glitter liners such as these because the glitter appears just too chunky and therefore makes my skin crawl. No, I’m not kidding. But 8-9 hours before getting any fallout seems less scary!
Still, I think I’ll stick to applying a micro-glitter eyeshadow over my eyeliner to get that effect. Unless one of these is a truly stellar and appealing shade for me!
I really like them OVER eyeliner, but I feel like glitter eyeshadow works just as well – and powder is easier to keep hygienic!
I am such a nerd for an opalescent glitter, I may have to get Pyro.
Pyro and grind look pretty identical swatched, I wonder if they look different over a dark base? I kind of hoped grind would be more pink, so I could layer a pink glitter over looks. I have distortion and it adds a nice opalescent sparkle on top of any color combo.
Pretty shades and for evening wear, these would be sensational. But they are not for me.
These are all so pretty! I love glitter liners, mostly as toppers for other liners or shadows, but they’re fun by themselves on the lower lashline.
I already have two glitter liner from UD, I love them! Is it supposed to be a new formula?
These are new shades!
Awesome! Thanks, Christine!
I think I will end up picky one or two. This formula had been wonderful for what I do with it ;D
It’s nice to see these are getting good reviews. I’m not going to be buying any of them (not my jam), but I always root for UD to do well.
