My skin tone/coloring: NC15 fair-light with warm undertones, black hair
Most loved product of the week: NYX Microbrow pencil in Black
Most used product of the week: Bourjois healthy mix foundation in 52 vanilla (a little too dark and yellow but still an OK match)
Any new beauty discoveries?: Wet n Wild comfort zone eyeshadow palette. It’s pretty darn good for the price, although I definitely have to use my other palettes for a matte shade.
I remember when I first saw the Comfort Zone palette in my corner drugstore here in Canada – I was so excited. It’s amazing that such great shadows can be purchased for such a reasonable price. As for needing another palette with it, heck, there are lots of other much pricier palettes with the same shortcoming (MUFE Nudes You Need or Tarte Make Believe In Yourself are 2 that come to mind right off the bat).
Isn’t Bourjois Healthy Mix in shade 51 where you live? That is lighter and more neutral than 52.
Another suggestion is the Rimmel Match Perfection in light porcelain – 010 shade. I use this foundation because I have the same level of fairness (according to the MAC scale), but with pink undertones.
Innoxa – if you can get that brand where you live, have some pretty fair new shades too.
I love my Wet n Wild Comfort zone palette – fabulous shades for the price.
Comfort Zone is a true drug store gem, to be sure.

Most loved product of the week: Chanel eyeshadow quad in Codes Subtils. I really love this quad–it’s easy, sophisticated, and can be worn in a subtle manner (as the name suggests) or can be built up into an intense eye look. I have worn just the two shades on the left together (medium peach and warm brown), just the two shades on the right together (gold and forest green), and have worn it with all four shades in three different ways. One of my favorite looks is to put the third color all over the lid (a warm brown), deepen the crease with the darkest shade (forest green), put a light brushing of the gold on the on the mobile lid, and use the pale peach frost to highlight the brow bone and inner corners. The second shade, a gold with a slight olive cast to it, looks fantastic when layered on top of the warm brown.
Most used product of the week: Chanel Coco Codes blush (another effortless, sophisticated product) and Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro Powder).
Beauty discoveries: I have been getting peels for the past year and since dermaplaning is recommended before a peel, I have been having my skin dermaplaned before each peel. I noticed that the esthetician was essentially shaving my face to the tune of $40. I have several friends who are estheticians so I inquired about doing dermaplaning at home. I had two estheticians confirm that I could shave my face with a (new, unused) razor, and get the same results. Both of them told me that is what they do and that they’ve never had their hair come in thicker.
Hi Tammy, I too have been loving my Chanel Codes Subtil palette this week. It is so easy to use. I can get my eye look done really quickly with this quad. I was wondering about the face shaving. I have seen several YT videos about it and have been intrigued. Many use it as a way of stimulating collagen production as they have aged. I also understand that makeup looks better over shaved skin. As I have aged I have noticed that the normal peach fuzz on my face has been getting longer and fuzzier. I don’t remember ever noticing it before. I haven’t tried shaving for the reason you alluded to, hair coming back in thicker and coarser. Did your friend say how frequently she shaves her face and what type of razor she uses? I know they sell very small razors on line. Have you tried it yet? Thank you.
Two estheticians I talked to used regular razors, not disposable razors, but they do use a fresh cartridge each time so that they don’t introduce bacteria. They do it every two weeks. I have had dermaplaning four times now, and I love it. Yes, my serums, moisturizers, and foundations apply so much better, and less product is needed. I cannot shave my face yet, due to just having a perfect 10 peel on Wednesday, but if I had it to do over, I would have shaved my face first, before the peel. In the future I will shave my face before every peel (I get one about every 6 weeks) and if you want to check back in on my thoughts about shaving, feel free to do so.
I will be using my regular razor, which is a Gillette Fusion.
Thank you so much for your answer. I would love to hear back when you have done it but I think I may have done it myself by then. I am leaning towards doing it and since I am headed into Missoula tomorrow I am going to stop at Skin Chic for a facial and will ask them about it there. If I do it I will let you know!
My skin tone/coloring: light to medium with yellow undertones, dark brown eyes, black hair
Most loved product of the week: Makeup Revolution Ultra Flawless eyeshadow palette. Pleasantly surprised with pigmentation and texture (not the best but decent even without primer). I can create many different looks with it also. Decent size & good mirror!
Most used product of the week: TheBalm Manizer palette – Mary as cheek highlighter, Cindy on lids
Any new beauty discoveries?: I guess the Makeup Revolution palette!
My skin tone/coloring: Fair/cool (MAC NW15)
Most loved product of the week: Essence Pure Nude Highlighter
Most used product of the week: Sephora Cashmere Coat eyeshadow (why on earth are they discontinuing this winner?)
Any new beauty discoveries?: a “rediscovery” – the Stila Trust in Love eyeshadow palette; I pulled it out accidentally (I was reaching for something else) and decided to use it. I’m enjoying it so much and I love when this happens – I take out something I’d almost forgotten about and it’s almost as much fun as discovering something “new”.
Skin tone: Very fair with cool undertones, NW5-10.
Most loved product of the week: Elizabeth Arden eye shadow trio in You Had Me at Merlot. It is probably more a fall/winter palette but I have been enjoying it used with a softer hand.
Most used product of the week: My Feline Fancy palette from Sugarpill. I have been using the lightest pink color as a blush and the highlighter all week. I really love this palette and find it so versatile.
Any new beauty finds: It is not a new product on the market but rather new to me. I picked up a few ELF brushes while making an on-line Ulta haul and have loved all of them. In particular, I like their tapered face brush as it applies highlighter really nicely. Not as nice as my Wayne Goss Airbrush, which I just ordered another of, but still nice for traveling.
Coloring: KGD 013, which is perfect, per the guy (who looked fab in the Huda palette) and gals at S. Even in that nasty Sephora lighting. Apparently, per T’s F matrix, closer to nw 15-20 and lighter than I thought. For now.
Loved: can’t stand how much I like that foundation, though I only used it twice. The S crowd thought I was 20 years younger, h&t (honest and true.)
Most used: prob Nars RCC in honey. Mildly disappointed. Held off for so long, bec I found it too yellow. It is. Think the true pink toned start lighter. Also, the usual culprits for base face/eyes. Use cp aphrodisiac a lot. On me, it has a lot more red than my closest dupe, Madly. That has little red on me, but it certainly isn’t ‘seashell pink’ or whatever they call it. I read no pink at all.
Discovery: ran down to Ulta for Anatomy and Epigram. They look fine with the warm shades from the Ciate CM palette. Epigram is lighter than I thought. Didn’t I see Olivia as a dupe? It’s a lot closer to the Lolitas on me. Color me surprised.
My skin tone/coloring: light to medium, warm undertones MAC NC 23ish/Giorgio Armani LSUVF 5.5/Tom Ford Bisque or Linen
Most loved product of the week: MAC Beaming Blush
Most used product of the week: MAC Creme In Your Coffee, Tom Ford Indian Rose
Any new beauty discoveries?: I’ve been masking nightly and I love it! It’s a nice way to decompress and prepare myself for bed.
skin tone: medium warm ?
most loved product of the week: Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha beta daily peel
most used product of the week: Have not worn a lot of makeup this week so I can’t say
beauty discovery: It is a decent discovery nothing earth shattering but I have been trying Tatcha’s luminous deep hydration firming serum & using tatcha’s silk moisturizer over it. The serum is RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED for the amount you get!
My skin tone/coloring: NC20 / NW20.
Most loved product of the week: MAC Shale e/s. BB Luxe l/s in Pink Nude. Clinique Smart Serum.
Most used product of the week: Laura Geller baked blush in Pink Grapefruit.
Any new beauty discoveries?: Paco Rabanne Black XS for Her.
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain with pink undertones
Most loved product of the week: I am getting out my Naked 2 – still beautiful
Most used product of the week: Milani’s Candied Toffee lipsticks – a great autumn shade
Any new beauty discoveries?: Pulled out Dior’s Jardin this week and had forgotten how lovely that teal shade is.
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Most loved product of the week: Urban Decay x Basquiat Vice Lipstick in Exhibition. It’s so beautiful. I love the finish with the color. It’s really pretty on me, if I do say so myself. Such great packaging, too. It’s so cute that the design is on canvas.
Most used product of the week: Lancome Teint Idole 24H Long Wearing Foundation; UD Primer Potion in Original
Any new beauty discoveries?: Nyx lipliner pencil in Purple Rain is perfect with the above mentioned lipstick.
