Cheek Palettes | 2016 Editor's Favorites
2016 was an excellent year if you were someone who likes their cheek colors in the form of duos and palettes! Here’s a look over some of my favorites from the last year…

I was hoping Moonchild would make the list. Such a great palette!
It was more unique, too!
I got the Tarte Color Wheel and I also got the NARS Dual Intensity one, both great though the NARS is harder to work with as you need a real stiff blush brush. I usually have to use one brush to pick up and one to blend, it’s a pain, but very pretty stuff.
I’m sorry to hear your NARS palette is stiffer! 🙁
Again, a good representation of a variety of brands. I really like the Kathleen Lights myself.
I was surprised by how many cheek palettes were released this year!
I love ABH Sundipped, That Glow, and Sweets. I purchased the Tarte wheel in November and am just starting to experiment with it. ( so far, I say, meh)
I think it may be time to switch to a cream formula for the winter months.
Sweets is a fun one to play with! 😀
I just ordered Moonchild, since Alchemist sold out before I could get it. Hopefully it’ll re-stock.
I loved the Tarte Color Wheel and the UD x Gwen Stefani blush palettes this year.
Moonchild is fun 🙂 I feel like the combos are endless!
LOVE the MAC Sweet Copper compact, so much that I got a backup! The Whisper of Gilt is so pretty, but the absolute surprise was the copper shade, Pleasure Model, on me it’s beautiful warm blush with complex shimmer, and the color is unique to my stash. Also thought that Tarte Color Wheel was a steal – 10 blushes in elegant packaging for $44, perfect for gift giving to others or to oneself.
The Tarte blush palette was a great value!
The Anastasia Sun Dipped palette is one of my all time faves! I use it all the time. I debated getting the Tarte color wheel palette because it swatched well, but I’m worried I won’t use all the shades. I’m probably going to pick up the Moonchild palette too!
Do you wear Sun Dipped’s shades alone or layered with other cheek colors, Rachel?
The Tarte Color Wheel is just soooo pretty! I don’t need it of course but man, I want it!
It had a lot of blush!
Generally, cheek palettes just don’t work for me because (a) most will contain coral and peach colours along with the lovely pinks and berries and those warmer colours simply do not work for me and (b) I don’t find the size of a cheek palette very practical. I was perfectly find being away for almost 3 weeks with just ONE blush (my fave non LE one which is Tarte Natural Beauty). I think the only cheek palettes I own are 2 from IT Cosmetics – CC+ Radiance and the Live, Love, Laugh Vitality Face Disc; one from Sephora from a few years back called “The Bronzed and Blushing Face Palette” and a very old trio from MAC’s A Tartan Tale. I have to force myself to remember to use these by taking them out of the drawer ahead of time as they’re just not things I remember to use because I find the size of all of them sort of impractical.
I find I like trios a lot, that’s when there are often enough colors I like/will wear – though it helps that I’m warmer so a lot of the pre-made palettes can work for me.
I love Light and Tan vibes. And Moonchild. And Sundipped…. it was a cheek and lips Year for me!
Nice picks, Karin!
There were so many great face palette releases in 2016. Some of my favorites were the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Palette, BECCA Blushed with Light Palette, and Anastasia Sweets Palette (which I just got for Christmas and am loving!). I also picked up the Makeup Geek Kathleen Lights palette on Christmas Eve, but it’s not here yet, but I can’t wait to use it!
Can’t wait for you to get the KathleenLights palette!
