Round-up: Tarte Metallics Shadows

Tarte Metallics Shadows
Tarte Metallics Shadows

Tarte Metallics Shadow ($14.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a new, limited edition formula (boo!hiss!) that is available in 11 shades. Each eyeshadow comes in an oversized plastic compact with a clear lid, but the eyeshadow pan is actually removable; the only downside is that the pan itself isn’t labeled, so if you move yours into a freestyle palette system, I would make sure to add labels to the bottoms!

The formula is soft, smooth, slightly dense, and very pigmented; a little went a long way, but it wasn’t so soft that it turned powdery or had a lot of fall out to contend with, though there was a little excess kicked up in the pan. They were very blendable and easy to apply to bare skin, and I didn’t notice a difference in payoff or texture when applied over primer or over bare skin. The formula wore between seven and eight hours for me (no primer). I was pleasantly surprised by the consistency and pigmentation of the new formula; I’m disappointed it’s limited edition, and it would been even better if there were more unique shades released as well. I am also a huge fan of them being easy to pop out!

I LOVE these, but I’m afraid to buy too many because of cost, and if Tarte issues them later in a discounted palette, I’m going to be kicking myself. But if I don’t get some, and never see them again, I’ll be regretting it too (sigh). Ok, I’m checking my stash for dupes, but I know I don’t have anything like Hussy, so that’s on the buy list for sure.

Apparently, resistance is futile! I kept trying to talk myself out of it, but I went thru my stash, and I didn’t have as many dupes as I thought 🙂 and a couple of them were in larger or LE palettes that I don’t want to lug around in my purse, so…….I ended up ordering 5 of these from Ulta (Scarlet, Speakeasy, Whiskey, Shakedown, Hussy), but…. I got them heavily discounted. I had 20% off with Platinum Sale discount, plus 5% cash back, and redeemed $9 in reward dollars, and my big order earned another $8 in reward dollars, so….. I got these for about $7 each! See how I talk myself into trouble???

I’m really surprised not to see Viseart shadows as dupes. I’m comparing the shimmers in the two Theory Pallettes, Cashmere and Minx, as well as Sultry Muse… Looks like some pretty close ones. Christine I’m curious to know if these shadows are distinct enough to warrant purchasing outside of the previous mentioned Viseart palettes? I love love love the look of these new tarte metallics and the glowing rating/reviews they’ve received.. I have 6 or 7 in my ULTA cart right now… Not sure if I should pull the trigger or not though considering the tonal comparisons and plethora of shimmers I have with my viseart collection (also Bridal Satin and Paris Nudes). I certainly have not previously been a modest makeup consumer, but considering the collection I’ve come to acquire I am trying to be more practical in my purchasing!

Hi Maria,

These are all the Viseart dupes there were… sorry if I missed any, but in general, if it isn’t there, then I did not think it was close enough to add to the Dupe List!
