Sneak Peek: Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks Photos & Swatches -- The Browns

Here are several of the more brown-based shades–these are ones darker than beige/peach (those will be in a separate post) from the new Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) range.

Vice Lipstick is a new formula that will debut on June 5th (and it replaces all the Revolution formulas). It will have 120 shades total, with 20 of those shades exclusively available at Sephora (subsequently, Sephora will not have 20 shades–each retailer will have 100 shades in total). There are six finishes, and some you’ll recognize; Cream = the original Revolution formula, Comfort Matte = the Matte Revolution formula, and Sheer/Sheer Shimmer = the Sheer Revolution formula.

Oh wow! Conspiracy reminds me of Tom Ford’s Derek, just a smidgen darker.
And at half the price and, what’s more important – it will be available locally.
It will be mine. Oh, yes. It will be mine.

OMG, brown reds are my fave, the most flattering on me! Love the last 9 , esp. the ones w/gold shimmer, and pretty sure I don’t have dupes for some of these

diann_co Avatar

Thanks for doing this! I count 46 down— 64 to go?YIKES! Does that just leave reds and oranges?
Surprisingly so far, I have seen none I have to have- which surprised me.

Some very pretty browns there! I am glad there’s plenty of pinky and reddy browns as I find these easiest to wear out of that colour range. I actually like them all here.

LMM Avatar

I saw that and thought, oh no they didn’t…and then I saw the actual lipstick, and it’s so pretty! But I just don’t think I can. What if someone asked you what you were wearing? Ha.

Anna Avatar

I wish brands would make more true brown lipsticks. 🙁 I’ve seen Zendaya rocks like a creamy golden brown that is to die for!

To what do you attribute the poor arm swatches vs. the decent lip look? What does this mean about a formula…if anything? Think I’m in on some of these. Along with Katherine, brown reds are my faves. Restraint must be used here.

I was expecting a lot more from Liquid, but it actually looks lovely on your lips (compared the the arm swatch)! I am loving all of the shimmery/metallic shades, Conspiracy is very unique looking. Studded looks close enough to Viva Glam RiRi II that I think I can skip it.

I like brown lipsticks but unfortunately I cannot wear Most of them.
So only hitch hike maybe a shade for me.

Wishlist + one shade

I think it’s because they’re sheer. Hard to swatch those without some of the pigment catching and bunching on the fine hairs of your skin.

Anastasia Avatar

These look like they’ll work well for WOC. Yay. Plus Studded is like Viva Glam Rihanna 2 that I love on top of a dark brown lip liner.

And there I was, thinking, browns, good, I don’t like brownish lipsticks, money safe from these, at leastt. I was so wrong! I like quite a few of them, the one I think I’ll buy, if it passes Christines test is Hitch Hike.
Some of the swatches looks uneven, but they look a lot better on the lips. I’ve noticed that in earlier sneek peeks from this release. It will be so interesting to read the reviews.
Oh, I also like Studded.

Conspiracy, Amulet, and Vice are gorgeous. Whoever thought it would be funny to name a brown lipstick “Backdoor” needs to be slapped, though.

Diane R Avatar

Ohhh yes. Conspiracy and Studded are on my must have list. I look best in browns and I am so happy for the 90’s revival.

Yen.Lin Avatar

Liquid and Conspiracy look interesting!
I hope Liquid will be a sheer, moisturising, wine-hued lipstick—that’d be phenomenal!

I think it’s weird that they’re doing 120 shades and still not bring back some of the originals. I had frostbite as a teen and I would love to get my hands on another Roach.

Off hand, Carnal and Studded are my only dislikes. Will have to check others with my skin tone before purchase. UD has really outdone itself with variety.

Holly Avatar

I’m not into brown lipstick anymore. I’ve already lived through the ’90s. But, I’m intrigued by Studded and Conspiracy.

Backdoor, Liquid and,Amulet are really pretty. I love the Sheer Revolution formula so Liquid is the one I will be picking up first.

Cathy Avatar

I love Uptight and Carnal, and 1993! But I imagine this 1993 is the same shade as UD just released last year, which was, sadly, a little too dark on me. I so wanted to love it but it didn’t love me back 🙁

Nighthawk looks like something I’d want to try. I look best in brown-reds, and right now there’s not a big assortment of them out there.
