MAC Irresistibly Charming/Pink Lipgloss Set
MAC Irresistibly Charming/Pink Lipgloss Set ($35.00 for 0.32 oz.) includes one shade of Dazzleglass and three shades of Cremesheen Glass. For long-time collectors, this will be your best bet between the three lipgloss sets as three of the shades are new (Narcissus is a repromote). MAC’s holiday lipgloss sets are actually one of their best values, because while the tubes may look short, they actually contain 0.08 oz. each! But this is the crazy part: full-sized Dazzleglasses are a mere 0.06 oz., while full-sized Cremesheen Glasses are 0.09 oz. The set contains $26.67 worth of Dazzleglass and $53.33 worth of Cremesheen Glass, which makes the set have a total value of $80.00. The holiday sets are a great way to restock your glosses, if you like the formula or shades. The sets often repeat from year to year and have a mix of often-repromoted-limited-editions as well as permanent options. Cremesheen Glass is sheerer, lightweight, comfortable without being sticky, with short wear time (one to three hours). Dazzleglass is thicker, glossier, sparkly (or glittery), sticky, and typically sheer but have longer wear time (two to four hours).
Like Magic is described as a “clear gloss with silver reflects pearlized pigments.” It’s a clear gloss with good dosage of silver and pink sparkle. It adds noticeable sparkle and glossiness to the lips, and I think it’s wearable on its own, but it could also work to layer with your favorite lipstick. It wore well for three hours and had a light-medium consistency with some tackiness. Bobbi Brown Rose (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Impossibly Sweet (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Purpurine (LE, $21.00) is lighter (85% similar). MAC Pleasure Principle (LE, $20.00) is cooler (95% similar). MAC Like Venus (P, $20.00) is cooler (95% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Be an Angel, Darling is described as a “baby pink with shimmer.” It’s a light, pastel pink with fine white shimmer. It had semi-sheer color payoff with a glossy, high-shine finish, but some of the milky pink color settled into lip lines. The shimmer helps to make it less noticeable, but it may be better over a lipstick. The gloss lasted for two hours and was lightly hydrating. MAC Oyster Girl (P, $21.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC For the Frill of It (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Sugarrimmed (PiP, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Pat McGrath Love Potion (P, $30.00) is warmer (90% similar). Maybelline Blushing Petal (505) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Pink Gold (P, $24.00) is warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Panache (LE, $8.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Demure (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Jouer St. Tropez (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Maybelline Petal Plush (100) (P, $8.99) is lighter, more pigmented (85% similar). MAC Look Who's Here (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (85% similar). MAC Ice Orchid (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). MAC Light English Red (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). MAC Sugar Coat (LE, $18.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented (85% similar). Huda Beauty Angelic (P, $18.00) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Date with Violet is described as a “mid-tone mauvey violet.” It’s a soft, medium pinky-mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation with some milkiness, which led to color pulling into lip lines, though it wasn’t as bad as some shades of Cremesheen Glass (but it’s there). The texture is lightweight, creamy, comfortable with a non-sticky texture. On me, the gloss lasted for two hours. MAC Dress the Part (LE, $20.00) is more muted (95% similar). Urban Decay Obsessed (DC, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). Urban Decay Lovechild (DC, $20.00) is lighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Sugar Pink (P, $45.00) is brighter (90% similar). MAC She Betta Werrrk (LE, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). NARS Tasmania (P, $26.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Lots of Laughs (LE, $21.00) is lighter (85% similar). Narcissus is described as an “intense orchid purple.” It’s a medium-dark, pink-tinted purple with a cream finish. This shade had semi-sheer pigmentation with a creamy, lightweight consistency that was comfortable on. It doesn’t apply evenly, which is its major issue, followed by shorter wear at three hours. Make Up For Ever 500 Lilac (P, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). Make Up For Ever 501 Purple (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Cle de Peau Fast Lane (15) (P, $48.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Love You Big Time (P, $10.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Urban Decay Jawbreaker (P, $20.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Dilly Dazzle (P, $10.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC How Chic is This (LE, $20.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). YSL Pourpre Preview (16) (P, $34.00) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Heroine (P, $21.00) is brighter, cooler (85% similar). Bite Beauty Nine (Watercolor) (LE, ) is darker, less pigmented, lower quality (85% similar). MAC Purple Panna Cotta (LE, $17.50) is more shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Urban Decay Bittersweet (DC, $26.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Snuggle Up (LE, $20.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Itchy & Scratchy & Sexy (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery (80% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Truth or Dare (208) (DC, $28.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Waaaay too much frost in this set for me! Those more glittery shades might be nice applied sheerly as toppers, though…
They would be nice for layering!
Ooh, I like Narcissus, nice.
Yay!
I prefer my glosses to be pigmented, but these look like nice toppers. I like the wintry sparkle in Be An Angel
These are definitely MAC’s sheerer formulas!
I always love the Cremesheen Glass Holiday Sets – such a good value, and the CSG formula is my fave lipgloss formula by MAC, so I’ll pick one set up for sure.
Thank you for doing the math on the value – your review a few years ago alerted me to the fact that the sets are actually much better value than buying individual shades!
No problem, Dorit 😀
These aren’t my colors, but I agree that if they are these sets are a great way to stock up and do a good deal.
They are!
I like all of them except Date With Violet. I still think I’ll pass, though.
Gotcha 🙂
Pretty! But I wish they would have substituted another color for either of the lightest two glosses, since they look basically the same on your lips.
I can understand that!
Oh, what to do!?! Like Magic is so great as a topper because it doesn’t have any underlying color of its own t compete with whatever lipstick it gets put over, and Narcissis would moisten up a purple matte lipstick beautifully! But I am still so drawn to that first one with its nude into brownish-red shades…? I wish I could buy all 3 sets this year!
Aww! It’s going to be a tough decision! Will you get two of the three? Or just one set?
Not sure, but I’m thinking of getting 2 of them, possibly? I’m torn! ?Wouldn’t it be great if they would do something where we could pick out 4 shades that we love so we could customize it? ?
Thanks for the review. You help me with my purchase decisions all the time. I was going to get the pink set, now I’ve decided this one is better for me and for gifts 🙂
Always my pleasure, Valerie 😀
I can see the layering potential but I’ll pass.
Hey Christine, is the Dazzleglass formula as sticky as the Lip Glass formula? I hate the stickiness of Lip Glass, but love the Cremesheen formula. Thanks!
Less sticky than Lipglass, but it’s definitely tackier than the Cremesheen Glass.
When will these be released??
They are released!
