MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish ($32.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a light beige with subtle, warm undertones and a golden, pearlescent sheen–the base looks almost neutral-to-cool but the shimmer is strong enough that I think it ends up leaning warm. This version seemed slightly less frosted/metallic to me than the permanent version. Chanel Camelia de Plumes (LE, $76.00) is cooler-toned. Cle de Peau Delicate Pink (14) (P, $55.00) is pinker. Urban Decay Luminous (P, $29.00) is more sparkly. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is warmer, darker. MAC Too Chic (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery. Illamasqua Aurora (P, $24.00) is a cream product. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I swear, I review this Mineralize Skinfinish at least once a year! I actually purchased this shade to review when it was added to the permanent earlier this year, but I never got around to it (such is the life of a permanent product–go sit in the corner until I’m done with these limited editions!). It gives a a soft sheen that’s luminous without being metallic, so it doesn’t emphasize pores or skin imperfections. The color payoff is decent, but it is a more buildable product than one that’s intense right out of the pan. The texture is soft, finely-milled, and goes on smoothly without looking powdery on the skin. On me, it actually lasted six and a half hours, which is improved from a few years ago–I have found that MAC has improved their Mineralize products over the years (especially in regards to texture).

I own the original as well, and I agree it’s more metallic. I always had to use a light hand to get the finish I wanted, so I’ll be picking this up! I actually really enjoy the fact that they keep re-releasing products, like they are with Perfect Topping, because I always seem to forget to pick them up while they’re still out so a re-release gives me another opportunity!

I love these and don’t care about the B. Mac’s skin finishes seem less metallic than most (to me) so I like the finish better. Can’t wait to see your review on the other one in the collection. And I love the whole look you’re wearing. So softly pretty. Lovely

I thought Lightscapade had more of a marble coloring with yellow, pink, and blue veining, no? If it was more like that, making it more neutral/cool in coloring, I would be interested. I think I’m set for beige/golden highlighters.

I feel like I’ve seen swatches that have made me really want this one, but I think those were editions with more blue veining. I know that varies quite a bit with mineralized products sometimes, but it makes me hesitant to purchase online for sure! Unfortunately, the only MAC counter in reasonable distance is not the friendliest, so they probably wouldn’t appreciate my asking to see multiples to choose a specific one. :-/

This makes me sad that the re promotes haven’t measured up to the original. I still have mine plus a back up from the Danse collection and have always been tempted to pick up another backup with these other releases. Don’t think I will now..

I have no idea where this talk of shimmer is coming from, or the shade being peachy golden to a degree! I’m still using the original I purchased, and this is WHITE with swirls of all colors, like with Meteorites! 😀 When it came back permanently, I did purchase a backup yet I’m gathering it has changed? Gotten darker, less cool toned, and shimmery? My shimmer was only on the top.. Hmm.., I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this.. So not what Lightscapade is.. 🙁

I was talking to someone working at Mac the other day and he was talking about how they’re always trying to rush so many limited edition MSF out the door that it’s so easy to forget all of the permanent ones!

I have the permanent version and it definitely looks cooler in the package, but your swatch doesn’t look too much different than mine, not worth purchasing another one to get the warmer glow that I would like. Looking forward to your review of the other skinfinish color in this collection, it may fit the bill! Looking to dupe the warm pink/peach skinfinish in the Sharon Osbourne double kit that included a very peachy brown matte in three quarters of the pan and a gorgeous peachy/pink shimmer in the other one quarter. Very poor choice in terms of value, but I loved the color. Its almost gone and I”d love to get a full pan of it!

Does not look warm to me, although looks slightly less white than the original that I own. Not different enough to get another one as per swatch, but I am looking forward to seeing the swatches of the other mineralize skinfinish released in this collection. It looks like it may have a warm peachy pink tone that I have been searching for since MAC inclulded it in one quarter of the Sharon Osbourne mineralize skinfinish two sided pan. The other three quarters of that pan is an orangey brown that I don’t understand how it got included under the category of skinfinishes, but its taking up all the room that the other, perfect color got! So I’d love to find a dupe of it. The ones recommended in its original review were not close enough, so I have high hopes for the slightly darker one in this collection.
