MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish
MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish ($32.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a light beige with subtle, warm undertones and a golden, pearlescent sheen–the base looks almost neutral-to-cool but the shimmer is strong enough that I think it ends up leaning warm. This version seemed slightly less frosted/metallic to me than the permanent version. Chanel Camelia de Plumes (LE, $76.00) is cooler-toned. Cle de Peau Delicate Pink (14) (P, $55.00) is pinker. Urban Decay Luminous (P, $29.00) is more sparkly. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is warmer, darker. MAC Too Chic (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery. Illamasqua Aurora (P, $24.00) is a cream product. I swear, I review this Mineralize Skinfinish at least once a year! I actually purchased this shade to review when it was added to the permanent earlier this year, but I never got around to it (such is the life of a permanent product–go sit in the corner until I’m done with these limited editions!). It gives a a soft sheen that’s luminous without being metallic, so it doesn’t emphasize pores or skin imperfections. The color payoff is decent, but it is a more buildable product than one that’s intense right out of the pan. The texture is soft, finely-milled, and goes on smoothly without looking powdery on the skin. On me, it actually lasted six and a half hours, which is improved from a few years ago–I have found that MAC has improved their Mineralize products over the years (especially in regards to texture).

Do you think this would be suitable for someone around NC 45 – NC50?
I think so – you might like Perfect Topping a bit more, though, as it has more warmth/color to it (still a highlighter on NC45/NC50 skin tone).
it’s so pretty!!
Glad ya liked it!
That sheen is gorgeous!
It is pretty on!
I haven’t been a huge fan of these ..I know Soft N Gentle is super popular but I didn’t love it on myself ( texture or shade). In a similar price range I think I like the BareMinerals pressed highlighter ( the name escapes me but Im sure you remember CHristine!!)
I think they can run too metallic sometimes, so unless you LOVE that look, then they may not be HG!
It sure looks pretty in the pan! But this a no no for me, it’s too glowy for me.
Aww!
Is it just me or does this look a tiny bit more like the original lightscapade and less like the recent beigescapades?
A little to me – more in the pan than swatched – but it still seems way beige-y to me!
I own the original as well, and I agree it’s more metallic. I always had to use a light hand to get the finish I wanted, so I’ll be picking this up! I actually really enjoy the fact that they keep re-releasing products, like they are with Perfect Topping, because I always seem to forget to pick them up while they’re still out so a re-release gives me another opportunity!
Yay for re-releases! 🙂
I’m just impressed that somehow it’s been once a year, lol!
I love these and don’t care about the B. Mac’s skin finishes seem less metallic than most (to me) so I like the finish better. Can’t wait to see your review on the other one in the collection. And I love the whole look you’re wearing. So softly pretty. Lovely
Enjoy, Megan!
I thought Lightscapade had more of a marble coloring with yellow, pink, and blue veining, no? If it was more like that, making it more neutral/cool in coloring, I would be interested. I think I’m set for beige/golden highlighters.
It definitely can – and it used to be more interesting and less beige!
I prefer this one to Soft & Gentle on myself. I was addicted to Lightscapade for a while! This makes me think I need to go back to it, haha. I don’t mind the B either. It works on my light/ yellow toned skin! 😀
I just wish it lasted longer!
Have about 60+ products/post in the que to finalize a review on myself… all permament products with photograpghy taken and rought notes done. lol I’m sure your back log is larger. 😉
I kind of want to get this version of it. *_* Maybe a Chrismas B-day present to me. lol
I don’t even keep track. Let’s just say that I actually have folders like “not likely to review” and “too old to review” and “never even edited these photos.”
Wow this is beautiful, I may just need to pick this up 😀
Awesome! 🙂
I feel like I’ve seen swatches that have made me really want this one, but I think those were editions with more blue veining. I know that varies quite a bit with mineralized products sometimes, but it makes me hesitant to purchase online for sure! Unfortunately, the only MAC counter in reasonable distance is not the friendliest, so they probably wouldn’t appreciate my asking to see multiples to choose a specific one. :-/
A lot of the recent iterations have been really beige 🙁 Like every single version I have except the oldest one (that I have).
That’s too bad. I have a few highlighters that are similar already. But money saved for other things, I guess!
This makes me sad that the re promotes haven’t measured up to the original. I still have mine plus a back up from the Danse collection and have always been tempted to pick up another backup with these other releases. Don’t think I will now..
Ah ha!
I agree with everyone’s assessment regarding the newer Lightscapades being more beige. The one I have is somewhere in between the newer ones and the older versions. I think it was a leftover from a LE stock during the time I purchased it which is probably why.
I have no idea where this talk of shimmer is coming from, or the shade being peachy golden to a degree! I’m still using the original I purchased, and this is WHITE with swirls of all colors, like with Meteorites! 😀 When it came back permanently, I did purchase a backup yet I’m gathering it has changed? Gotten darker, less cool toned, and shimmery? My shimmer was only on the top.. Hmm.., I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this.. So not what Lightscapade is.. 🙁
Pretty but I’d probably go for all the dupes first!
This is my all time favorite mineralize skinfinish that MAC has ever released. It looks gorgeous in the new packaging. Love it on you!
I was talking to someone working at Mac the other day and he was talking about how they’re always trying to rush so many limited edition MSF out the door that it’s so easy to forget all of the permanent ones!
I have the permanent version and it definitely looks cooler in the package, but your swatch doesn’t look too much different than mine, not worth purchasing another one to get the warmer glow that I would like. Looking forward to your review of the other skinfinish color in this collection, it may fit the bill! Looking to dupe the warm pink/peach skinfinish in the Sharon Osbourne double kit that included a very peachy brown matte in three quarters of the pan and a gorgeous peachy/pink shimmer in the other one quarter. Very poor choice in terms of value, but I loved the color. Its almost gone and I”d love to get a full pan of it!
I really love the glow! I currently use RMS but this glow is something. It’s so pretty on you!!!
Hehe, I hear a lot about these, and this one looks pretty, but I’m not sure I’m really on board with how shiny some of them are. This is all academic for me, really, as I don’t wear much in the way of either MAC or highlighters, but irrationality is an academic rogue’s prerogative, I suppose.
It looks warmer than the one I’m just finishing at home. But, I’m sure the difference is subtle on.
Gorgeous!
I actually swatched this a couple of weeks ago and it’s quite pretty! I always wrote it off since it’s so pale but it looked nice against my skin tone. Definitely not a highlight you’d want to go overboard with but a light application is stunning
This looks so nice and glowy, instead of frosty or glittery, I really love it! It just looks fresh!
This looks so pretty in the pan.. Now I am just confused whether to get this or one from permanent line.. 😛
Does not look warm to me, although looks slightly less white than the original that I own. Not different enough to get another one as per swatch, but I am looking forward to seeing the swatches of the other mineralize skinfinish released in this collection. It looks like it may have a warm peachy pink tone that I have been searching for since MAC inclulded it in one quarter of the Sharon Osbourne mineralize skinfinish two sided pan. The other three quarters of that pan is an orangey brown that I don’t understand how it got included under the category of skinfinishes, but its taking up all the room that the other, perfect color got! So I’d love to find a dupe of it. The ones recommended in its original review were not close enough, so I have high hopes for the slightly darker one in this collection.
