MAC Cheeky Bronze Mineralize Skinfinish Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Cheeky Bronze Mineralize Skinfinish
MAC Cheeky Bronze Mineralize Skinfinish ($32.00 for 0.35 oz.) is described as a “soft coral with golden shimmer.” It’s a slightly muted, medium coppery orange with gold shimmer. At best, it looks slightly reddish-tinged (“coral”) in the pan, but it seems far more copper than coral. MAC Seduced at Sea (LE, $25.00) is less shimmery, redder. NARS Na Pali Coast (P, $39.00) is a cream product, stronger red tones. MAC Pleasure Model (LE, $25.00) is less shimmery, darker. NARS Luster (P, $29.00) is more golden. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
This shade was originally released a few years ago, but it’s back and now part of the permanent set of Mineralize Skinfinishes (it is one of five). The color is just about identical between the one I just purchased and the one I have from years ago, and the texture of the new one is less powdery–still similar in regards to softness and silkiness, but the new one isn’t at all powdery. The shimmer seemed a bit finer, smoother once applied, as it didn’t emphasize pores as much as my older compact did. This particular shade of Mineralize Skinfinish could be used as a highlighter, bronzer, or blush, as it had good color payoff that was buildable to full opacity or easily sheered out for a warm glow. If you want to use it primarily as a highlighter, I recommend a light hand and fan or stippling brush, otherwise you’ll get a fair amount of color. On me, the color lasted for seven and a half hours before starting to get patchy/faded along the apples of the cheeks.
The new packaging is glossy black, but the size is the same as the previous compacts. The bottom of the compact is curved inward, so these will fit more snugly together for better storage. They contain the same amount of product, but MAC increased the price from $30.00 to $32.00.

I love that on you but I couldn’t pull it off.
Thank you, Erin!

Yah, this is definitely copper, not coral. I like how it looks on you though.
LOL! At least I’m not the only one who didn’t see coral!
This is permanent now?! The lid cracked on mine and I had to get rid of it, can’t wait to pick this up!
Yes!
Cheeky Bronze is gorgeous — I think I’m going to have to purchase this! You look radiant, Christine!
Thank you, Carolyn!
Looks pretty shimmery in the swatch but so pretty on you! I’m eagerly waiting to try these myself!
Do you think this is a shade you’ll try?
Haha, kind of backwards but I literally just purchased Smashbox Azalea Be Legendary Lipgloss immediately after reading this review. I couldn’t resist the gorgeous color! Oh but the Skinfinish looks nice too. 😛
LOL! 🙂 Let me know how you like it!!
hi my post is not in regard to this review..wantd to knw abt the lush fresh face masks..u mentioned (in a review i read earlier) that their fresh face masks have a 3 week shelf life..id bought mine and refrigerated it but dint get a chance to use it evn once..do u thnik i should use it? its been in my fridge fr almost a 2 monts now but UNUSED :p
thnk u
I personally wouldn’t use it after that long!
I want Cheeky Bronze so bad! It’s so pretty!
It would be lovely on your coloring!
Ooo, that is really pretty. But ugh, MAC, STOP RAISING YOUR PRICES. You do it even more than NARS does.
They raise a lot 🙁
I tend to use Cheeky Bronze as a shadow on lazy days, works great!
That’s a great idea!
What lipstick/gloss are you wearing? It’s beautiful.
Smashbox Azalea Be Legendary Lipgloss.
This is so pretty, you look glowing
Thanks, Bronwyn!
I love shimmer gold finishes but I think I will pass this because I have Nars Luster, too similar just Luster is more satin finishes
Luster is easier to wear since it isn’t so shimmery, too!
Kinda reminds me of Milani’s baked blushes. Thank you for the tip on using a fan or stippling brush with a bright blush. Now why didn’t I think of that!
No problem, Allison 😀
Hmm, is this at all similar to Stereo Rose?
Nah! This is a lot browner than SR!
Ah this looks very pretty on you Christine! It looks similar to the Artisan Baked Bronzer in Gingersnap!Your earrings are so purdy too btw!
Thank you, Dee!
I feel like if they stretch the definition of ‘coral’ any further, it’s going to break! 😛 This seems unneessarily orange to me, somehow? I mean, it looks fine, but I just don’t know… (bit moot for this vampire anyway, LOL! )
LOL! It is very bronze and warm and coppery – not coral at all.
Not loving the new package but I still have mine from the first time around so don’t need to pick it up. Totally no coral to this at all, gold cooper not coral. Still pretty and nice to add that extra touch though.
So weird when brands use color to describe and it’s totally off!
It gives you such a nice glow! I don’t own anything like this…. I may pick one up.
Thanks, Valerie!
Oh Christine, I’m so glad you reviewed this and included a comparison to the older formulas! thank you!!!!!!!! I love love love Cheeky Bronze, I’ve been using it daily instead of blush, it’s poyfect!
Happy to help, Nik!
This looks gorgeous on your skin tone Christine!
Thank you, Melinda!
One of my favorite MSFs! I wear it a lot when I’m tan to get that nice natural glow, but now that I’m super pale again (NW13) it doesn’t work well at all.
What brush do you like using with this?
I dont know yet if i’m loving the new package….
when we talk about the product i cant say the same, i just love this poweder at first sight. I have one powder with a matching color some years ago from mac and use it till the last bit!
With love,
The pink lemonade
It can be very nice once applied!
How does this compare with MAC’s Warm Soul mineralized blush? My fave blush ever, but looks similar to this.
MAC Warm Soul is less shimmery – less red in the base. In a way, it’s a softer version!
This color looks so beautiful on you. I would like to purchase one of the MSF but I’m not sure which one to get, I’m looking for something that’s going to look good on myself I’m NW20. I want one that I can use as a nice bronzed glow and highlight. Just something that I can when I don’t want to take all the steps to contour, blush, and highlight my face.
