Bite Beauty Corvina & Violet High Pigment Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Bite Beauty Corvina High Pigment Pencil
Bite Beauty Corvina High Pigment Pencil

Bite Beauty Corvina High Pigment Pencil ($24.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “bright coral pink.” It’s a brightened, pink-coral with warm undertones and a soft shine. It’s incredibly pigmented in a single stroke, and the consistency was lightly creamy so the color went on smoothly and evenly. This shade lasted for nearly six hours on me and was moderately hydrating during that time. The only downside is that if you were looking for the “modern matte” finish they promise, this starts out with more of a satin finish, though it does mattify after an hour or so. It has a subtle citrus scent but no taste. Guerlain Geneva (48) (P, $51.00) is more orange. Dior Sunset (660) (LE, $34.00) has shimmer. Estee Lauder Defiant Coral (P, $30.00) is similar. Bite Beauty Crush (P, $28.00) is lighter, more matte. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shout (138) (LE, $30.00) is darker, pinker. Maybelline Shocking Coral (P, $7.49) is darker. Make Up For Ever #37 (P, $19.00) is slightly darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Violet High Pigment Pencil ($24.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “lavender violet.” It’s a muted, medium magenta purple with a soft, satiny shine. The pigmentation is excellent with full color coverage in one layer, but the finish has more shine than you’d expect based on the brand’s description. It wears well for five hours and was lightly hydrating while worn. It has a subtle citrus scent but no taste. Too Faced Melted Violet (P, $21.00) is purpler, brighter. MAC Happy-Go-Lucky (LE, $16.00) is brighter, pinker. Bite Beauty Violet (P, $24.00) is brighter. Bite Beauty Grape (LE, $24.00) is brighter. Bite Beauty Satsuma (LE, $24.00) is brighter, pinker. NARS Full Frontal (LE, $26.00) is brighter. MAC RiRi Boy (LE, $16.00) is more matte, slightly darker. NYX Pink Lyric (P, $4.00) is pinker. MAC Love Forever (P, $18.00) is glossier. MAC Up the Amp (P, $16.00) is slightly more matte. MAC Outrageously Fun (LE, $16.00) is more fuchsia. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

FYI, since you don’t get to Sephora, the summer LE matte pencils from Bite(like Grape,) are OVER, at least at my local store. Violet was my pick for COTY and one of the two Bites that were melted + returned. Just that one day + my house is not hot. All the others have been fine. Problem is, it’s never in stock + I haven’t been able to replace it. My 1000 pt MJ (love both those colors, thanks for the heads up, s.t. i don’t check the emails) got heatstroke, too, at least in the gloss, leaked all over the inside package. Cleaned it up + stored vertically, but it went down + leaked again. The SA/cashier said to bring it back for a new one, which I think i will. But I don’t trust mailing a Violet to me, bec. the weather would do it in f’sure! It runs purpler than Grape or the Pantone color did on me. Glad that Violet is permanent + very glad I did not procrastinate on getting Clementine. Wish the summer mattes were permanent…..

What, in general, does LE imply, in terms of length of time in store? it seems that they might more reasonably be called LR: Limited Run. My guess would be that they produce a lot, the number of which is generated by market research + forecast trends. Then, out they come, and when they’re gone, that’s it. … In other words, i think there’s no answer to my question.

It really varies from brand to brand, because some brands WILL restock or do additional runs if something that is LE sells out very quickly. Other times, it is one and done. And still, other times it is simply “it’s here for two months, get it or not” and when the time is up, it’s gone – even if they have stock. MAC only keeps out new displays for xyz length of time, then products seem to go to the CCOs and eventually gone for good.

Oh no these pencils are killing me because I think I need a ton of them. If they’re pretty comfortable for long wear that means I could wear them to work and then the floodgates will open. I don’t currently wear lipcolor because I don’t have the time/patience to maintain most lip color or want to be uncomfortable in a drying long wear lipstick.

Hi, my question has nothing to do with this, but I am desperately looking for an (affordable) dupe for Mac Whisper of Gilt and nothing comes up. Can you please help me?

Ps love your site! Our skin tones are similair so before I buy something I always first look if you have a review on it

I love both but I am really liking the violet a shade I usually would never even consider. Maybe because it really looks nice on you.

Christine, I have a question/request. Do you have any posts about like your top ten beauty must haves or something? I’m going to college in the fall and I want to just get a bunch of products that are basics and must haves so that I can create complete looks but still be versatile. Or maybe if you have the time you could make a post about what products to bring to college? Haha sorry for the long post but thank you for reading and having such an amazing blog!!!

Hi Sarah!

It just… depends on what you wear, what you like, pricing/budget, etc. Like if you only wore neutrals, the list would need to be tailored to that. It’s SO hard to catch everyone in one bucket, you know? You can check out the editor’s choice awards (in the sidebar), which lists all my favorite formulas budget-friendly/high-end for just about everything!

I have to say that i was hesitant when the Sephora SA suggested this colour early in the season but it’s absolutely gorgeous on you. Now i’ll have to reconsider.

I do not have to expand on my love for these pencils, other than the shopping list keeps growing.

The thing I wanted to comment on: I have Corvina and it will never cease to amaze me how different a lip product can look from one face to the next. Our skintones are really not that far apart, but while I very much love Corvina on you, on me, meh. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fine and it doesn’t look bad on me, but colour wise it’s not my favourite pick from my group of Bite pencils. There is no magic there. Know what I mean?

Helene Avatar

They are both so pretty! I think I’ll have to wear Up The Amp as it’s at least quite close to the lovely Violet.
I’ll say it again Christine, you can wear any lipstick and look good in them all.

This is my first dabble into lip pencil land. I’m very pleasantly surprised at the end results/swatches. They’re just gorgeous! I can see how Corvina could be a real favorite for those who can wear coral. Violet is my perfect color so I’m going to pick one up as my first Bite Beauty item.
