MAC Just a Wisp Mineralize Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Just a Wisp Mineralize Blush
MAC Just a Wisp Mineralize Blush ($27.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “pink.” It’s a light, cool-toned pink with a frosted, slightly metallic, finish. The highly reflective finish is actually what makes this less similar than other pale pinks I’ve come across. Makeup Geek First Love (P, $9.99) is more muted, more matte. Surratt Beauty Guimauve (P, $32.00) is more matte. Hourglass Ethereal Glow (P, $35.00) is more matte. MAC Well Dressed (P, $21.00) is darker, less shimmery. MAC Pink Buttercream (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
This is another new (and permanent!) shade that’s been added to the Mineralize Blush range in the new, updated packaging. It had semi-opaque coverage in one layer, but it was buildable to full coverage in two layers or easily blended out for sheerer color. If you use a fan brush and a light hand, it becomes more of a pink-tinged highlighter. The high shimmer content makes it more wearable on darker complexions as well, as it doesn’t appear chalky at all, but it would make for a nice, soft pink blush on fairer complexions as well. The finish is quite reflective but seemed to only emphasize pores very, very slightly–something I only noticed when I looked exactly for that but felt like you couldn’t really tell at a distance. The texture was soft, lightly powdery, but smooth and silky to the touch. This shade wore well for seven hours before it turned a bit patchy.

It is pretty, but I think I like the other one you reviewed yesterday more!
Do you like MAC’s Mineralize Blush formula?
This seems like a huge improvement on the Mineralize formula–opaque and more flattering.
The texture of the powder itself seemed better than a Mineralize Blush from a few years ago but more comparable to what we’ve seen in the past couple of years!
Wow, it definitely lifts the face! Might have to give this a chance despite the heavy shimmer. x
Let me know if you try it, Liz!
Almost seems more like a highlighter.
Could be — depends on your skin tone or the effect you’re after!
I don’t think I have a blush quite this frosty and I love light, cool-toned pinks. I think I’ll try this. Thanks for the swatches!
My pleasure, Christine! If you try it, let me know if you like it!
It looks very pretty on you Christine! Awesome to hear that this probably wont be chalky on darker complexions because that’s usually the issue with many of these types of colours/finishes. It would probably make a pretty highlight on darker complexions too!
I was very surprised (pleasantly, of course!) – I think it is the high shimmer content, too, that’s helping!
If this is lighter than Well Dressed.. its definitely never showing up on me! I was so excited when I saw the picture of this one on your blog! 😐
Awww! 🙁
I think it looks beautiful!
I own two mac mineralize blushes, warm soul and petal power and I really like both of them.. I have to check this one out 😉
Yay! So glad you’re loving the two you have!
Warm soul is AMAAAAAZING when I need a neutralish cheek color from summer to fall. I am still looking for a nice cool toned blush for winter and spring. Im going to try this on locally and see if it doesn’t make me look like a hot mess with my rosacea.
Highlight…..that’s what I’m thinking!
Yup! Would work for that.
Very pretty! I like this one.
Yay! ;D
It’s very shimmery… But it does give you a gorgeous glow!
Thanks!
I own a single mineralize blush and can’t say I’m a huge fan, so this would be more of a highlight for sure.
Which is the one you own? They’re usually too shimmery for me/short-wearing on me.
These mineralize blushes are so pretty. Love this one.
They always look lovely in their pots!
I cannot find this in stores yet. …
I didn’t receive a press release, so I don’t know if there’s an official date for stores to get it, but it is available online at Nordstrom already (and has been for about a week or so), so I would imagine stores/counters would get it soon.
Wow look at that sheen! This looks so much more like a highlight than blush but it’s still very pretty. If it wasn’t so light I’d want it lol
I’m sure MAC will tempt you with another blush soon enough, LOL!
This makes your skin look so pretty and glowy!
Thank you! 🙂
Darn, too light for me. I’m loving the new packaging though, I’ve been hearing some negativity about it but I think it looks sleek and modern.
Nice to hear from someone who digs the new packaging 🙂
I can’t with frosty blushes… the color is pretty but it has too much frost. Satin or matte blushes tend to look the best. I have a few shimmery blushes that look good on, but you really have to find the right color.
Probably best to stay away from most of the Mineralize range then 🙁 They are often quite frosted!
Looks very nice. Would want one, but already own Dainty.
Christine, could you let me know if they are similar enough to justify not purchasing it when it hits the stores here? 🙂 Thank you!
It’s nothing like Dainty, IMO! This is a cool-toned light pink, and Dainy is a yellow pink!
Thank you so much, Christine! Gonna have to at least check it out when it comes in then.
This color, as you rightly said, is very reflective. Lovely medium pink color and the new packaging is really cute I feel.
Happy to hear you’re enjoying the color!
I may like the new formula, but the packaging is so ugly. 🙁 I loved the old MSF and blush packaging so much and now my collection won’t look as organized as before…
I’m super impressed at the smoothness/non-pore-emphasizingness of this finish, because it seems *super* metallic and shimmery to me! Now, I’m all for shimmer in my eyeshadows, and lipglosses, but somehow I’m a very plain matte girl when it comes to blushes 😛 This would make a nice highlighter, though!
I like a satin-glowy blush – not shimmery but not matte – myself 😀
Oh wow! You look beautiful in this Christine! Your cheeks are so perfect, even with the most frosty/glittery blushes!
Aw, thank you, Izabela!
It looks more like an illuminator and even so, it’s way too shiny and frosted in my opinion…
You have to love your shimmer if you get this shade for sure!
Will definitely be picking this up on my next MAC trip!
Fingers crossed you love it!
