Too Faced Country Star La Creme Lipstick
Too Faced Country Star La Creme Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a warm-toned, medium peach with a glossy, luminous finish. MAC Enchanted One (LE, $16.00) is more matte. Chanel Satisfaction (89) (P, $34.00) is sheerer, lighter. YSL Tender Peach (26) (P, $34.00) is pinker, darker. Marc Jacobs Beauty Dizzy Spell (104) (P, $30.00) is similar. MAC Close Contact (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Givenchy Beige Plume (102) (P, $36.00) is darker, more matte, pinker. MAC Sweet & Sour (P, $16.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The La Creme formula has a slightly thicker, more emollient consistency normally, but this particular shade seemed extra slippery–it moved around quite bit, so it was difficult to get really even, smooth-looking color. When I pressed my lips together, it would create “lines” and push the product around. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and it was nicely hydrating while worn, but it was a high-maintenance lip color. It lasted for two and a half hours on me, and as it wore away, it did pull into lip lines somewhat. It’s a shame, as the color was quite the chameleon; I would stand in one room, and it would pink-tinged, and then in another, it would be peachy. It had a sweet, lemony scent but no discernible taste.

You always make peach lipstick look lovely. On me…not so much.
Thank you, Wendy!
Lol I’m with you (WWendy) on this one. I just can’t wear anything that leans pastel and then I see it look amazing on other people. Oh well..live vicariously through Christine:))
Will you be able to buy this at Sephora?
The press release says ULTA exclusive, though it’s on TF’s site as well.
Disappointing! I was looking at this online but will now skip! Too Faced is so inconsistent. Sometimes I love what I get but others times they totally underperform. Always glad when I can save some money! More to spend elsewhere!
Thanks.
Happy to help, Megan!
This is exactly the type of color I tend to gravitate to, so I’m sad to see it performed so poorly! I really don’t like when lipsticks settle into lip lines and move around :-/. Thanks for the review as always, Christine!
My pleasure, Carolyn! 🙂
I love this colour so much that I may just ignore that C rating… Lipsticks are at least easier to work with than bad shadows for me lol
LOL! If it wasn’t so slippery, I could handle it a bit more, but the slip! gah!
Too Bad!
I wish there was less slip!
Oh wow, this was way glossier than you’d expect from a lipstick!
The formula has a fair amount of glossiness to it normally, though this was a bit extra!
Dang, I like the color a lot, if only it performed better!
Aww! I hear ya!
Not really digging this one.
Me neither!
The color is a really pretty nude on you! too bad the formula isn’t..
I think if there was just a bit less slip, it would have been workable!
ohhhh i have the ysl 26 and two enchanted ones but i need this too
I think you can skip if you have FOUR of the dupes, lol! 😉
oh i have four of the dupes hahaha
I thought this was going to be more nude pink .:(
I’ll pass.. Hope to see the lip balms.
It sometimes looks a little pinker, depending on the light, but it is mostly peach!
Such as shame about the formula! The color and the name are just so perfect 🙁 I can’t take slippery lipsticks, so I’ll probably try to mix my own variation with MAC Myth and add a gloss on top!
Good call, Amanda!
This shade looks almost wet! Are these usually any similar to MAC Cremesheens in texture?
Cremesheens are a lot drier, thinner, less pigmented, less glossy.
This is really impressively glossy! Like, I can actually see the little mirror shine on your lip in the photo, LOL! There should be a little musical ‘bling!’ sound to go with it 😉
All inanity aside, while I actually don’t necessarily mind reapplying lipstick every hour if I need to (I just really like putting on lipstick, for some reason), the whole ‘press lips together, get funny lines and smooshy patterns’ thing annoys the proverbial out of me. I can’t stand it!
LOL! I wonder what the technical term for “press lips together, get funny lines and smooshy patterns” is 😉
The shade would surely wash me out but I know what are you talking about here.. the extra glossiness and the slip… it is so hard to manage.. 😛
It is! 🙁
