10 Lip Products to Try at Sephora
Here are some of my personal recommendations for lip products to pick up while Sephora’s offering 15% off! Beauty Insiders use code TICKET, VIBs use code VIBTICKET, and Rouges use code ROUGETICKET. 🙂 Feel free to share your recommendations for other readers to try!
- Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Creams (review) are really intensely pigmented liquid lipsticks. I’ve tried three shades and have loved all three! (Pictured: Moscato)
- Guerlain Rouge G (review) is my all-time favorite lipstick formula, and it’s by no means inexpensive, so a sale is a great time to indulge. Love shades like Gemma, Girly, Gisela, Genna, Garconne, Gigolo. (Pictured: Genna)
- YSL Glossy Stains (review) are glossy, pigmented, and long-wearing lip colors that come in a wide variety of shades. These are lovely for someone who likes a glossy lip but needs longer wear. (Pictured: Fuchsia Dore)
- Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick (review) is a pigmented, comfortable, hydrating, and moderately longer-wearing lipstick that comes in a good variety of shades from beige to plum. I really love shades like Anarchy, Naked, Streak, and Venom. (Pictured: Anarchy)
- Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lipgloss (review) is my go-to formula for sparkling, shimmery gloss with a high-shine, high-shimmer finish. I love shades like Canary, Naked Plum, and Plum Gold. (Pictured: Citrus)
- Too Faced La Creme (review) is an excellent formula if you love a lipstick with a very creamy, emollient texture, good color payoff, and hydration. (Pictured: Bon Bon)
- Givenchy Le Rouge (review) is one of my favorite formulas for its satiny finish, intense color payoff, and comfortable, hydrating, long-wear.
- Buxom Full Bodied Lipstick (review) is a richly pigmented, longer-wearing, comfortable formula that won’t break the bank! (Pictured: Menace)
- Marc Jacobs LoveMarc Lip Gel (review) is hydrating, emollient lipstick with a lot of shine and pigmentation. Some of my favorites are Showstopper and Seduce Me. (Pictured: Seduce Me)
- Jack Black Lip Balm (review) is a must-have for me at all times.
Sephora may be a place to try…..but not a place to buy. I dont contribute my money there for various reasons of the past. Too many places in SF, I can buy from.

When I use up my Nivea lip butter, the first thing I’m doing is buying Jack Black lip balms again.
What’s your fave flavor?
Beautiful spread! I agree with everything except Jack Black because the mint is irritating to my lips. I am loving everything else though and now really is the time to try the more expensive ones due to 15% off! 🙂
Have you tried any of the other scents/flavors from Jack Black?
I have not but thought of chamomile or black tea/berry (?) ones. What do you suggest? 🙂
I like the Black Tea one! I know that Leesha/xSparkage swears by the Shea Butter one, which I don’t think I’ve tried (but keep wanting to – it’s always out of stock!). The ones I keep here are mint and lemon!

I caved.. 15% off is like 2 for one plus tax 😀 lemon and black tea ! I can’t wait! I’ll give my mint away or just keep it somewhere odd where I just might need it someday. Lol. The father of “Five” was never into “extravagant” things… Men. Sigh. 🙂

I especially love Bite pencil crayons right now. Madeira, Tart, Satsuma, and Blood Orange. YSL rouge volupte in nude beige 01, golden glosses 3 and 10, and Givenchy LE rouge in 306 carmin 🙂 honey lacquer by Bite in Valencia is gorgeous too. Lippies! <333

Urban Decay Revolution, Buxom Full Bodied, and Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense are my favorites for color. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment and Yu-Be Lip Therapy are my favorites for balms.
I also love Illamasqua lipsticks and I’m sad Sephora cut their selection of them down so much. I had a couple on my wishlist that they stopped carrying.
I haven’t tried Yu-Be before, so maybe that’ll be next!
It’s pretty stiff and for the first few minutes smells quite strongly of camphor, so it’s not for everyone. But it’s one of very few balms that actually works for me and doesn’t have dyes/fragrance.
I’m weird and don’t mind camphor smell, lol!

My recommendations would also include the Jack Black lip balms (I really like the grapefruit one) and Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask (even better than the Jack Black lip balm), Bite’s VIB Rouge lipstick which, sadly, wasn’t available for purchase in-store during the VIB event. Also, from Nars, Como Larger Than Life Lipgloss and Damage lipstick.
I wish I had more luck with the Agave Lip Mask! I’ve been trying a lot more lip balms but still find Jack Black to be best for me.
Jack Black works well for me because my lips get on well with petroleum jelly, for some reason! So I’ve actually found the Vaseline Lip Therapy to work pretty well for me…which is good, because I only bought it because they come in a ridiculously adorable teeny tiny vaseline container.
However, it’s not something I’d ever use on the go, so it’s on the night stand. The rose one smells really nice, and it’s about the same consistency as JB for me.
JB totally lives in my purse, though! 🙂
I think it’s the same for me! I don’t know if it’s perhaps because I used to use Vaseline for YEARS growing up… like until I was 18 or so? I used Vaseline at night. I usually had regular Chapstick in my pocket growing up (my dad’s influence!).
I picked up a Bite Beauty Matte Creme lip crayon (I got the color Blood Orange) a couple days ago when I was at Sephora… It is AMAZING. It glides on amazingly well and is so comfy on – which is awesome for a matte shade! Smells so yummy too. It’s gonna be hard for me to restrain myself and not pick up more 🙂

I like the packaging on the le Rouges but I can’t decide on a colour because I have similar shades already. Buxom looks interesting.
And re: the Lovemarc gels I just luv the name Surrender Dorothy
They are more basic, so it’s not surprising you have similar shades!

I quite like Illamasqua’s Lover so I might try Excite as well.
As an aside I must say that I love the layout of the Sephora site, it’s extremely well organized and user-friendly and the search function is excellent.
Sephora is pretty easy to navigate through! The only thing I don’t like is their “what’s new” section is more of a “featured new products” sorting thing (because if I relied on that, I’d miss half of the new launches, lol!).
The shipping is so high, though! I added an item to my cart last night and when I saw the sales tax and shipping added (and also that I couldn’t add two promos and get the little makeup bag too) it was just too much and I couldn’t pull the trigger.
I think the only time I’ve paid shipping at Sephora is if I’ve expedited something, though right now I’m on their 2-day flash program so that was $35 I think.

So happy to see this list before I go to Sephora with me coupon tomorrow. The Jack Black lip balm will be on my list. And you reminded me that my Too Faced Drenched lippies are sitting in one of my storage containers and need to come out. Between the Hourglass Ambient Lighting and their blush, which, if either, is the must have?
Do you have a lot of blush? No finishing powders? I think the Ambient Lighting Powders are more likely to be a product you don’t have a ton of? but that’s just a guess. The blush is lovely but less ground-breaking, IMO!

I just bought my first UD Revolution lipstick in Streak this weekend during the sale and it’s great! I also love the Jack Black lip balm in the Lemon scent! I have a Too Faced La Creme lipstick from one of their holiday kits but I haven’t even used it yet, oops! I better get on that though!

I have UD lipstick in 69 and its one of the best formula of lipsticks I have tried! Totally worth the money. I’m looking for a bright pink for summer and was debating between UD Anarchy or NARS Schiap. Which one would you recommend? Or any suggestions? I don’t want anything super glossy but my lips tend to dry out so I don’t want something that emphasizes lip lines.

Anarchy is a lot more comfortable to wear, IMO! If you love 69, I would go Anarchy for sure.
I love Jack Black balm! Thanks again for recommending it. It’s perfection! I so need one of those Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Creams in my life. Especially whichever shade that is lol. It’s so gorgeous! I totally recommend everyone try the Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks. It’s one of the best formulas I’ve tried. They’re pigmented, moisturizing and long lasting. Anarchy is my fave!

I agree on the Rouge G and Glossy stains. Best lip stick/lip gloss (not sure what to put Glossy Stain as) formulas, ever. The Rebel Nudes for Glossy Stains are great, have to go into Sephora to pick up one now that DFS SFO discontinued carrying YSL products. 🙁 I already have a good amount of my Rouge Gs left. Dior Addict is also pretty nice too, in Diablotine.
Haha! Glossy Stains are so funny, because they’re like a gloss, a stain, but so pigmented that they could almost be a lipstick. I normally consider them a gloss, since they do have a lot of shine 🙂
I have a question for Christine or anyone else. Have you ever experienced foul smelling from Givenchy le rouge lipsticks??
