YSL #19 Golden Petal, #20 Golden Macademia Review, Photos, Swatches
YSL Spring 2010 Collection: New Golden Glosses
For Spring, YSL released two new shades of Golden Gloss ($29.00 for 0.20 oz.)! #20 Golden Macademia is is a peachy-beige with a champagne-pink sparkle. #19 Golden Petal is a medium pink with a yellow undertone and gold shimmer. Both shades are on the sheerer side, but they both give/change my lips color.
- Golden Macademia mutes the natural pink in my lips and makes it look like a softened pink-nude. This is is the kind of gloss that works well layered over your favorite nude lipstick or worn alone for a more minimal look. It’s nice paired with a smoky eye or even with neutrals for a more every day kind of look.
- Golden Petal is a soft, milky pink that goes on semi-opaque. It was surprisingly pigmented, as I rarely find a milky pink that still has the soft, milkiness without severe settling into lip lines. The golden shimmer really makes this a nice, warmer pink gloss–an excellent color for those with warmer skin tones in particular.
I was quite impressed by the pigmentation of both of these new Golden Glosses, as they’re often more on the sheer side. I’ve always liked the sparkle-factor of Golden Glosses, and these still have that beautiful, shimmering sparkle that Golden Glosses are known for, but with a little more amped up color pay off. YSL Golden Glosses are non-sticky, moisturizing with a soft, mango-y scent that last about average (two to three hours on me).

Whenever I even see pictures of that YSL tube I can smell that gorgeous scent! I was swatching these at Nordie yesterday and kept smelling my hand, hehe. Golden Macadamia looks like a nice nude. I have #2 Golden Praline, but I do find that the shimmer is a bit gritty on my lips and not my favorite gloss feel, so next time I get a YSL gloss it’ll be a Gloss Pur.
It’s nice to see they have more pigmentation that usual. I love the way YSL’s glosses smell, nom nom nom!
i lovvveeeeee these! i have number 10 and it is like dazzleglasses but better! gorgeous gorgeous shimmer, and not terribly sticky. and a fabulous scent too
These are pretty but I will be the odd one out as I don’t like the scent.
Don’t blame you…most scented lip products drive me nuts (Guerlain, bleh!). But this one just hits all the right buttons for me and I luuurve it.
Me, too — I love the color of YSL glosses, but the scent almost makes me sick. It is too bad, because I would buy a lot more if they were unscented! But the do look gorgeous on!!
i think #20 is for me!!
and i don’t have a ysl gloss 🙁
omg, I need Golden Petal in my life! Although Golden Macademia is really nice too 🙂
Such a beautiful sparkle! Esp the Golden one.
I have the #20, Love it!! Beautiful nude colour. I love the YSL golden glosses, also like #2,golden praline which I need another, cos nearly ran out!!
Their glosses are pretty and even taste pretty good too however I own one and won’t buy another because the case always leaks and it’s on pretty tight. I have to store it standing up in a cup otherwise it leaks around the edges of the opening. Don’t know if its just mine or all of them do this…?
Hi Marie,
I have all mine laying down, but I’ve never had any problems with them leaking!
Wow, I love #19! Too bad I can’t find YSL anywhere near me! 🙁
Dude, this does not look anything special to me, and to pay $29 per item is a little ridiculous.
These look stunning… I especially like YSL #19 Golden Gloss. Too bad Canadian Sephora doesn’t carry YSL. Gotta find a Holt’s to swatch it!
They are both so beautiful, I can’t decide which one I like more. Ouch, my wallet!
I’ve been umming and aahing about these, esp #19, but they’re just not as pigmented as I’d like. I think I might pass on them.
love how they look in the tube, but a bit too sheer for that price…im not a fan so much of the glitter in these glosses anymore because of the grittiness…dazzleglass, chanel glitter glossimers and these are too gritty. 🙁 i wish they had made them shimmers not glitters
i have the no. 1( golden gloss) and love love it plus the smell ofcourse
I navigated to your blog and the first thing to greet my eyes were these beauties! Golden Macadamia looks pretty, although these are almost more stunning in the tube!
🙂 So pretty!!
I love how Golden Gloss looks in the bottle, but it seems to be more like a nude pink gloss on the lips. Shame, because I really, really need a new golden lipgloss (stocking up for summer!)
Beautiful, but just too pricey for me. = (
#19 looks surprisingly light
and gorgeous!
I like the #19 Golden Gloss but it looks so different on the lips then it does in the tube. Thanks for the review Christine.
Pretty but pricey. When I buy glosses or lipsticks, I would rather buy cheaper brands and spend more money on a good foundation, loose powder and mascara.
Wow these are gorgeous!
Do these glosses look really sparkly IRL? I am not a big fan of sparkles in lip glosses but #19 looks very pretty!
They are pretty sparkly!
