Fit for a Queen

Wet ‘n’ Wild Fit for a Queen Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad ($2.99 for 0.16 oz.) was the easiest of the new, limited edition quads from the Fire & Ice collection. The weakest shade–#2–was still workable, and if used as an inner tearduct highlight or brow bone highlight, the sheerness didn’t seem like a deal-breaker. I wish all of the brand’s mattes performed as well as #3, though.

Fit for a Queen #1

Fit for a Queen #1 is a soft brown with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer on top. The consistency was soft, somewhat powdery, but it blended out well and didn’t sheer out too readily. It lasted for seven hours on me.

Formula Overview

-

The formula is supposed to be "powerfully pigmented" with a "butter-soft" texture that "glides on like a dream." The majority of the eyeshadows are on the drier side, sometimes feeling loosely pressed and other times more chalk-like and truly dry to the point where a primer became a must for getting good adhesion and wear out of the formula. Most of the matte shades were quite pigmented, and I found they actually applied better to bare skin than some of the shimmers, which often appeared faded and muted in practice compared to how they appeared in the pan. The pigmentation varied from decent to mostly opaque depending on the shade, and the wear was typically between five and seven hours on me.

I did not keep most of the previously-released trios and palettes from the brand as mine, but when I compared 2018's formula to the prior one (and mine are likely five or more years old), the previous formula was far better for their shimmers--slightly more slip, creamier in feel, and typically more pigmented and true-to-color on the lid. I think the mattes, overall, are improved as they are more blendable and pigmented on the lid.

Fit for a Queen #2

Fit for a Queen #2 is a pale, pinky-peach with warm undertones and a frosted finish. The pigmentation was semi-opaque in a single layer, while the texture was firmer and denser making it a stiffer shade to work with. I’d recommend using this over a primer or using a dampened brush to intensify the coverage and improve the blendability. It stayed on well for seven hours on me before fading noticeably.

Fit for a Queen #3

Fit for a Queen #3 is a deep red with strong, warm undertones and flecks of fine pearl over a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin. The texture was soft, silky, and blendable without being too softly or too firmly pressed in the pan. It wore well for seven and a half hours before it started to fade on me.

I got this and the “red” shade in mine is much more brown. I’ve noticed some other bloggers appear to be searching a color that looks much more like the one I got. I think there might be different batches? Really wish I had gotten the red one.

I just got this palette yesterday and cannot believe how pretty the look I got out of it today is. I have spent the last three days fighting to get a good look out of the Colourpop Dream Street palette so this was a nice change of pace. The #1 transition shade is pretty much my perfect crease shade. I’m so glad I gave this one a shot!!
