My skin tone/coloring: light to medium with warm undertone, MAC NC 23/Giorgio Armani LSUVF 5.5/Estee Lauder 2N1/Tom Ford Bisque/Shiseido Synchro Skin Golden 3
Most loved product of the week: Biologique Recherche P50 – I’m in my 3rd week of using it nightly, I think, and am so impressed. So glad to have bought this and highly recommend.
Most un-loved product of the week: Tatcha Essence – it might be unfair at this point because I think the BR P50 is everything, but this doesn’t even seem to hold a candle to it. I haven’t noticed any change or benefit in my skin because of this. I like the layering products of my morning skincare and makeup routine, but this has added nothing as far as I can see.
Most used product of the week: Toss up between MAC Up the Amp or Testosterone lipstick – love both!
Any new beauty discoveries?:
1. Masks with pumpkin and masks with a clay of some sort seem to be the best for my aging, normal to oily skin. 2. Tom Ford perfumes – some have great staying power, some are gone in a few hours. I am working my way through samples and plan to systematically start adding to my collection. I feel like Jasmin Rouge may replace my beloved Houbigant Quelque Fleurs (that smells like cat pee on me now) for my everyday scent. I have more to test though, so we’ll see.
Re-discovery: MAC In For A Treat Pearlmatte – it’s from many years ago, but I hadn’t used it very much before. I looked up swatches on here and saw that it was like a matte with pearl, sort of a highlighter, I guess. It reminds me of Laura Mercier Matte Radiance 01, which is a staple if not HG, so I’m really glad I re-discovered this. I’m going to work it back into the rotation so I can pan it and back2mac it.
Pearl: thanks for recommending Biologique Recherche P50 — I’d forgotten I’d meant to look into this product, and will do so now. And, for advice on masks — I too having ageing, normal to oily skin but haven’t done much exploring on masks, have found it all overwhelming but will try out pumpkin masks next.
Welcome! It is a game changer. I hear you about the masks and the variety being overwhelming. Check out Peter Thomas Roth and Gloprofessionals for both a pumpkin enzyme and a clay mask (separately, not one in the same mask). They both make the 2 types of masks and alternating between the 2 really clears out any build up and gives you this even skin tone and glow. I have a few gel type masks (cucumber, rose, aloe) to calm everything down (I get red) after I use them, but you could just as easily use an oil (rosehip oil, argan, etc.).
Pearl, where do you purchase your Biologique Recherche?
The only place I’ve found online is http://shoprescuespa.com/. They sell a 1.7 oz. for $27 so not too bad for trying out – I’ve used it nightly and I’m going on a month and still have about 1/2 left. I ordered this one to break in my skin and then the big size of P50 1970 (the “big guns” with phenol) after. They say to apply it with a cotton round but I use my hands – I felt like I was wasting product because after about 3 or 4 “pats” (you’re supposed to press, not swipe or rub this on), I felt like the round dried out and I had to use more. Plus it took a long time to get it all over (I use it on my chest and neck also) if you are just press-patting it everywhere. It’s like applying aftershave, heh – I splash some into my hands, about as much as if I’d wet a round, and that is good for my chest and neck and face.
Pearl, thank you for the information, especially the part about applying with your hands to save product. It makes sense–I currently apply my glycolic acid and vitamin c with my fingers.
Welcome! ?
That Blow Me Out is growing on me…
