Skin tone: Very pale with cool undertones.
Favorite look worn: I used my Chosungah foundation with my Dior Snow blush in 03 (the light pinky/lavender shade) and added a little more highlight using Becca Pearl highlighter. I used the Viseart Tryst palette choosing to do a peachy/lavender eye look. Again, my only criticism of this palette is a lack of brow bone highlight for my skin tone but I used my Becca Pearl highlighter very sparingly. For lipstick I used Nars P***y C***troll velvet lip pencil. Sorry, I know I am a prude and just can’t write that name! I already have my story for anyone asking what color lipstick I am wearing, “Sorry the name wore off and I can’t remember what it was!”
I just looked up that NARS lip pencil out of curiosity. I don’t blame you…such a crude, embarrassing name, especially for a lip product. Really unnecessary, in my opinion. Very pretty color, though.
Deborah, I don’t think it’s being a prude to deplore vulgarity, and with the recent shift in focus onto sexual harassment as a real and serious problem (and not a “oh, don’t be so serious…it’s just harmless kidding around” situation), companies should shape up and show some class or some support.
Just fyi, NARS came out with that collection in honor of Prince. That’s a name of his song. Not that it makes it any better but js maybe the blame is with the artist they are honoring not necessarily NARS in this situation, though we can be critical of names NARS chooses to name its products. And those lip shades came out before the #metoo really took off. Again just informing!
Hi Erica,
I actually knew the reference and was aware that the release was in honor of Prince. I am actually a huge Prince fan and saw him in concert but still don’t want that name on my lipstick. I doubt it makes sense to like the performer and his music and yet be not in to having sexually referenced names on my makeup. Let’s face it, Prince wrote a lot of songs that did not have names like this and Nars could certainly have found a lot of references to honor him without choosing to go this route. I appreciate your perspective and as you can see, it didn’t stop me from buying the lippy, LOL.
That’s why I don’t buy NARS generally….really dislike the names of their products. Rude and crude.
Coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, dark hair
Favorite look worn: I did a MAC/ABH eye collaboration (I started with MAC: Malt as transition shade and Vanilla on brow bone. Then, using ABH Modern Renaissance: Primavera on inner-to-center lid, Antique Bronze on outer lid/crease blended towards the center, Vermeer at tear duct). Marc Jacobs Matte Highliner in (Brown)ie on upper tightline. L’Oreal Lash Paradise. Bare Minerals BarePro Performance Liquid Foundation in 05 Sateen. Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. RCMA No Color Powder. Clinique Berry Pop Blush. Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Highlighter 01. Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle.
Most worn: Clinique Brow Shaper, Clinique Super Fine Brow Liner, and Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle, which is a perfect MLBB shade for me. I don’t even mind that I have to reapply it often because I love the beautiful scent.
New beauty discoveries: Nothing makeup-wise, but a possible new fragrance. Yesterday I got a sample of the new Mugler perfume, Aura. I think I might buy a bottle of it. Really beautiful packaging. I’m going to wear the sample a couple more times to be sure.
My skin tone/coloring: Light medium yellow tones, dark drown hair and eyes.
Favorite look worn: Dramatic bronze and purple metallic eye with the QoH palette, plus a little bit of Ardency Inn Rose Gold eyeshadow dabbed on right in the middle of the lid and purple winged liner. Tawny nude cheeks, plus bronzer for added depth and a bit of warmth on forehead, temples, nose bridge, apples of cheeks and chin. Colourpop Lightweight matte lip, with Cami lippie stick layered over for staying power and a bit of rosiness.
Most used product of the week: Viseart Paris Nudes palette – I thought I’d be able to do really simple blended looks using only that but there’s just not enough depth or range. Still gorgeous though!
Any new beauty discoveries: I discovered that mixing a blob of Rhino Repair (excema treatment cream made from natural ingredients in New Zealand – it’s super stinky but it works) with a few of drops of Korres Black Pine active oil makes a FABULOUS overnight treatment for stressed skin. I’m dealing with a particularly bad breakout at the moment and this soothed a lot of the redness and reduced inflammation.
My skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look you wore: Lise Watier Multi Fini powder foundation, MAC Into the Pink Blush, ABH Vermeer and Smoke eyeshadows, Sephora Cappuccino liner, MAC Capricious lipstick
Most used product of the week: Lise Watier Multi Fini and Embriolisse face cream
Any new beauty discoveries: yes, that a small and very nifty store in my neighbourhood actually carries rms skin care and cosmetics.
Skintone / coloring : light, MAC NC 15 – 20, med brown hair and eyes
Favorite look worn : ABH Prism Palette. MAC Tete A Tint as transition shade. Saturn in crease and lower lash line. Parallel in the outer v. Eternal on the eyelid. Rimmel brown eyeliner on upper lashline. NYX Metallic Eyeliner in Copper on the bottom waterline. Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara in Rich Pitch Black. elf mineral pearls in natural to warm up the face. Clinique Nude Pop blush. Too Faced le creme lipstick in Dolly.
Most Used Product : Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara in Rich Pitch Black. Clinique Even Better Foundation. MAC Broque eyeliner (used it up!)
New Beauty Discoveries : I don’t like the It Cosmetics CC Cream. Smells awful. Nothing special. I think I’m returning it!
My skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look you’ve worn: EYES — UD Primer Potion in Enigma. LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs Brainz from the Zombie Defense Palette (crease), Urban Decay Spandex (lid), Looxi Beauty HL in Pandor (brow bone) and Notoriously Morbid Creepy Green LIght (foiled on inner corner). UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Psychedelic Sister (lower lashline) and Perversion (upper and lower waterlines). UD Troublemaker mascara. BROWS — ABH Love Letter. CHEEKS — LORAC Ultraviolet. LIPS — Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipstick in Chalkin’ Pink. FACE — Nyx Angel Veil Primer; E.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain; e.l.f. HD Powder in Sheer; Sephora Tranquil (as contour); Looxi Beauty HL in Pandora; e.l.f. Original Mist & Set.
Most used product of the week: My usual dailies and e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain (now called “Natural” in the revised line). I’ve finally used up the bottle, and I’ll be switching to the Light Ivory (added when they revised the line), as that is an even better color match.
Any new beauty discoveries: LunatiCK Cosmetic Labs Vampira Palette
My skin tone/colouring: Porcelain with pink undertones
Favourite look you worn: Nars Sabre on the lid, UD Busted in the crease with Clarins Peach shade in the corners with Clarins Joli Rouge Berry shade on lips.
Most used product of the week: All my staples.
Any new beauty discoveries: That I like the Manuka Honey natural anti aging skin serum.
