Winging It

ColourPop Winging It Pressed Powder Face Duo ($16.00 for 0.50 oz.) contains a shimmering, cooler pink highlighter paired with a bright lavender blush. I loved the way this duo came together–there was enough difference in depth where they could be used in different proportions to create a few different types of gradients. Both shades were nice with respect to how much pigmentation they were supposed to have, and they were easy to apply and lasted well, though the highlighter did emphasize skin texture as it was quite intense.

Swirl

Swirl is a brighter, light-medium pink with subtle, cooler undertones with a metallic finish. It had opaque color payoff in a single layer with a smooth, almost cream-like texture that was denser but not stiff to work with, so I had no trouble picking up product on my brush and applying it evenly to my cheek bones. The powder blended out with ease and had a very strong sheen, which I did find emphasized my skin’s natural texture somewhat. When worn at lower coverage, it did not emphasize my skin’s texture. It wore well for almost nine hours on me before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

$12.00/0.21 oz. - $57.14 Per Ounce

The powder highlighter is supposed to have a "high-shine" finish with "high colour intensity." In general, ColourPop's pressed highlighter powders have a smooth, moderately dense texture that was soft enough to be picked up easily by a brush but not kick up any powder in the pan. The formula was semi-opaque to opaque but easily sheered out for less shine and coverage if desired. There were a few shades within the range that emphasized my skin's natural texture slightly but most did not. The wear ranged from seven and a half hours to nine hours.

Whirl

Whirl is a bright, medium lavender with warmer, pink undertones and a soft, satiny finish. The texture was soft, silky, and smooth with a touch of powderiness in the pan. It had medium, buildable pigmentation (up to opaque with three layers) that blended out nicely on the skin. The finish yielded a subtle, smooth sheen the more I blended and worked the powder on my skin. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Formula Overview

$10.00/0.28 oz. - $35.71 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly" and have a "natural and healthy flush" that has "long wear" and "can be layered to your desired intensity." It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The consistency has a drier, thinner feel and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the type of powder blush can be tricky to blend out evenly on the skin, depending on one's skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would blend, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and was difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average.

Hi Chris,
I don’t know if you have any time to watch You Tube videos or if you follow Tarababyz but in her most recent video she shows another ColourPop duo called “Just Dew It” and it is beautiful. It is shown within the first 2 minutes of the video so no need to watch the whole thing. I picked it up along with a couple of super shock shadows during their sale. “Just Dew It” is a peachy shade with a matte and a shimmer that can be used together. Just thought I would mention it as I don’t know if Christine will be reviewing it or not.

This looks so beautiful <3 I really wish colorpop was available in the UK as I think these colours would work so well on my pale skin tone! I only suit cool blushes and these are ultra good quality and fairly affordable. I’ll have to have a little look online…

I feel like I’ve been waiting forever (in makeup years) for a perfect duo like this. These colors are beautiful, and I cannot wait to try them tomorrow!

Saw this from Tarabaybz in her hall yesterday. Definitely something I want to pick up! Cool tones look really good on my pale cool-toned skin! Thanks for the revies, Chrisitine! They look stunning on you!

I bought this one and I absolutely love it!!!! I would say it’s a lilac pink and it made my skin look so beautiful. The highlighter is insane and a little goes a long way. It’s really a stunning duo! I am considering buying just dew it because it looks beautiful. I hope you review it Christine!!!!

You really have developed my visual memory for these things, so that I’m getting pretty good at predicting stash dupes. Almost ordered, but thought about secret admirer and big S over the moon. Saved by Temptalia again. What a great duo, at a fab price, though. Enjoy it, people.

Omg! These look beautiful just afraid it would almost look neon on me colors look rather strong. But so pretty! Also afraid of the highliter emphasizing skin texture. Just recently ended up purchasing the Milani strobe highliters and find they do emphasize skin a bit need to play with them a bit more see how it goes but they are beautiful! The older ones with the teeny roses were great they were highly fine milled giving a very soft sheen very high quality and so beautiful I ended up getting all three.

I love this SO MUCH. I’m neutral-to-warm but very pale, and it works! I love lilac for spring, so had to have it. I’m really liking the blush reformulation-I have the Knockout duo from way back when and I love that highlighter, but the blush is way too dark and matte. Score!!!
