Urban Decay Vice & Addiction Nail Colors Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Vice Nail Color
Urban Decay Vice Nail Color ($15.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “rich, deep purple with red and blue micro-shimmer.” It’s a deep, darkened purple with red shimmer. Vice was fully opaque with two coats of polish, and it applied so beautifully and fluidly. There was a luxuriousness to the polish that was definitely unexpected. It dries to a slight shine but needs a top coat to give it a really glassy look. I’ve been wearing this shade since I got it, and it’s been six days, and I have very minor tip wear and no chipping. There were no visible brush strokes, which was the part that impressed me most. Chanel Taboo is darker. China Glaze Urban Night is a cream. Zoya Jem is similar but has larger shimmer. See comparison swatches.
Addiction Nail Color ($15.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “smoky, metallic gunmetal with multidimensional, high-shine micro-sparkle.” It’s a dirty, green-ish pewter with gold and olive green sparkle and shimmer. There was some visible nail line after applying two coats, so it could use a third coat for full opacity. The texture was thin but not watery, and it spread evenly across the nail. It seemed to dry slightly faster than the average polish and had a shinier finish than Vice. There were a couple of brush strokes I could see, but they were minor. Chanel Graphite is very similar to this, even down to the slight sheerness. See comparison swatches.
Urban Decay completely changed their nail polish formula with this latest edition, and I’m definitely intrigued to see what other shades they put out in the future. Vice was fantastic, while Addiction was decent to good but less impressive. The bottles have sleek cap with “Urban Decay” debossed on the edge and a three-dimensional skull on the top. The formula is supposed to be long-wearing, chip-resistant, and have a high-gloss finish. The first two have been true with the wear I’ve experienced with Vice, but the finish had a sheen but it was dull–definitely not high-gloss. I expect most will reach for a top coat regardless, so it’s unlikely that it’s a deal-breaker.

A dupe for Graphite? I almost fell from my chair, graphite is glorious and this looks so similar. I personally really dislike this brand because of the vulgar sexual references it uses for some of it´s products but they were clever with this shade. The brand doesn´t exist here but if I´m ever on transit on an airport in the USA I “might” consider getting this, it looks so similar, and I don´t own graphite I only have peridot. Something to think about…
I really love Vice!
Lovely! Your nails are looking super fab, Christine! Sadly, mine are toast with my hands now in and out of synthetic gloves and in and out of water. Sadddd…
LOL, right after these swatches, I cut them SO much. I can maneuver and all that at that length, but I inevitably will break one doing something stupid.
They are both absolutely stunning! I normally *refuse* to buy any nail polish more expensive than Revlon & L’Oreal (and even with those, they have to be on sale or BOGO, LOL), but I will be picking up *both* of these, and quite possibly back-ups. Both the actual shades, and the packaging are right up my alley!
when is this global skull trend going to be over, I’m kinda tired of skulls everywhere.haha
nonetheless the polishes look nice 🙂
Just ordered both of them and several of the new Marc Jacobs polishes. 😉
