Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil Reviews, Photos, Swatches (The Bolds)
Urban Decay 69 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils ($19.00 for 0.04 oz. each) has been revamped, reformulated, and relaunched with sixteen shades. This post is featuring the brighter and bolder shades. The revamped Urban Decay lip pencil formula is creamy and glides on easily; it doesn’t pull, tug, or drag across the lips. Lip liners are one of my least favorite products to swatch on lips, because they can be really rough across the lips and doing more than one or two of them back-to-back is usually a recipe for sore lips later on. I had no trouble applying nine of these back-to-back, and that’s primarily because they really do glide across the lips and feel waxy, but they still deposit good color payoff as they move across the lips. On their own, they wear like iron and last anywhere from four to eight hours. Underneath a lipstick, they add two to three hours of wear, bringing total wear time of a shade like Bang lipstick (over Bang Lip Pencil) to eight hours of good wear to eight hours of really good wear and another two of lingering wear before reapplication was necessary.
69 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “classic red.” It’s a bold, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It applied with full, opaque color coverage. It wore for eight hours and left a stain behind. Â It was lightly hydrating initially, and then it settled into a neutral state where my lips didn’t feel dried out after the long-wear. Â MAC Kiss Me Quick is warmer. MAC Cherry is similar. MAC Freehand is close. See comparison swatches.
Anarchy 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “bright fuchsia.” It’s a bold, neon fuchsia-magenta with a faint, iridescent sheen and a matte finish. It was incredibly pigmented and applied with full color coverage.  It lasted for seven hours well. MAC Embrace Me was the only shade I could think of, but it’s less blue-based and not nearly as bold/neon. See comparison swatches.
Jilted 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “deep fuchsia-pink.” It’s a medium-dark, cool-toned pink with a subtle sparkle over a matte finish. This shade was a little drier compared to the others, which I suspect is because there is a slight shimmer/sparkle to it. It was still mostly opaque and relatively easy to apply. Â Jilted wore for seven hours before showing noticeable sides of fading (but it left a stain behind). Â MAC More to Love is darker, less sparkly. MAC Great Catch is slightly redder. See comparison swatches.
Bang 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “bright orange-red.” It’s a bold, medium-dark orange with a matte finish and red undertones. It applied with rich color payoff, and it wore well for six and a half hours. MAC Throw Me a Line is comparable. MAC Entertain Me is lighter. MAC Ablaze is slightly brighter. See comparison swatches.
Venom 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “rich plum.” It’s a reddened berry with a matte finish and cool undertones. It was mostly opaque applied to lips, and Venom lasted a solid seven hours when I wore it.  MAC Beet is brighter, redder. See comparison swatches.
Generally, each shade wears exceptionally long on its own, and every layering combination I tried certainly increased the wear of the lipstick layered on top of it by anywhere from an hour to three hours. Â On their own, they are not particularly hydrating, though I’m happy to report that they are not drying, either. Â The ones with a light pearl or shimmer look driest on the lips, though they aren’t actually that dry in feel, just a little less waxy compared to the full-on matte shades. Â The matte shades are more flattering when worn alone as a result, but both finishes work well underneath lipstick or gloss. Â The only thing I really disagreed with from Urban Decay’s description of these is that they “stay creamy,” because they really do adhere to the lips once applied, so the color doesn’t move or rub together all that well, which is a large part of why it lasts so long!
These will launch initially on urbandecay.com and then roll out to Sephora, Macy’s, Beauty.com, and ULTA shortly after.

Hi Christene! It may be my iPad but some of the photos repeat/jump around. Those look great on you! I’ll have to check them out.
Hi Sarah,
I checked and all the photos are loading properly for me!
I wasn’t really fond of the “Bang” Lipstick but the Lip Pencil seems alot more wearable to me .
I need it & Anarchy , too .
Hi, Christine! Can you recommend a dupe for Mac Sripdown? Thanks a lot!
Francesca
Sorry, I don’t think I have that!
How does the formula of this compare to MAC’s prolongwear lip pencils? Which one do you think is better?
This has a waxier consistency, so these are easier to apply.
Love Venom & Anarchy! Thanks for these swatches, Christine!
Your poor lips must really hurt after all of these swatches… Thank you for all of the work you do. I really like Bang and 69.
I was actually really lucky, because Urban Decay helped a girl out and sent these early enough that I had plenty of time to swatch. I mean, I had them swatched in about two and a half days, LOL! but it wasn’t quite the panic it otherwise would have been. AND I had enough time to test every single shade for wear 🙂
My pleasure, Alicia!
I NEED VENOM!!!
Okay, so how amazing would it be if UD released a collection of all these lip pencils similar to what they did with the eye pencils. Although I do not wear lip pencil very often and typically only with darker, more vampy colours, It still would be nice to have the whole enchilada. Lip pencil as a base gives any lip product kick ass staying power and your ratings pretty much say it all.
I need 69 and Venom in my life. lol
How does Venom and MAC’s Heaux compare? They look similiar in your swatches! I’m curious!
Heaux is darker, matte, and fully opaque – no shimmer!
Ah!! These pencils look great! I’m not one for lipstick. I really like the idea of a lip pencil or stain that will stay on for most of the day. Did you experience uneven fading with these lip pencils? Also, as much as I LOVE the Anarchy shade, I feel like Venom would be more wearable on an everyday basis.
When can I buy these? And where can I buy them online? (I’m in Europe)
Have you tried using these over a lipstick or gloss? MAC pencils still work over lipsticks and glosses, and I was wondering if these do the same. Thanks, Christine! 🙂
No, sorry, I haven’t!
How does the Venom lip liner and lipstick compare to NARS Afghan Red?
Afghan Red is redder, more muted.
