Too Faced Twinkle Twinkle Liquid Glitter Eye Shadows Reviews & Swatches (Part 2)
Lemon Zest
Too Faced Lemon Zest Twinkle Twinkle Liquid Glitter Eye Shadow ($22.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a a medium gold with warm undertones and a mixture of fine and medium-sized glitter particles–it didn’t seem quite as chunky as some of the other shades with respect to the glitter content. It seemed to have a transparent base, so I’m not sure where “full-coverage” has much of a chance to come into play. I could apply the product with a separate synthetic brush, pat it into place, and then build up with a second layer to achieve nearly opaque coverage. The texture was very thin and watery, but it didn’t sting, and it dried down quickly. Once it set, I didn’t see any movement, flaking, or fallout over a 12-hour period.

Formula Overview
$22.00/0.21 oz. - $104.76 Per Ounce
The formula is described as a "high-glitter, liquid glitter eyeshadow" that will "cover lids in full-coverage Tutti Frutti glitz." The brand recommends "patting" it on using the "flat side" of the applicator for "intense juicy sparkle," and for layering, "tap" the product over/onto the area. The best part about the formula is how well and long it wears for--no fallout, no movement, and longwear for as long as 14 hours on the lid. They lasted well when I used them as eyeliner on my lower lash line, but I did notice that when my eyes were heavily watering (the type of watering where you contemplate just removing all makeup and hiding in a dark room) that my tears did eat up the product on my lower lash line.
The downside to the formula is that it has a watery, thin consistency that works better for layering and washes of glitter all-over the lid than living up to claims of "full-coverage." I found that they were a bit more pigmented when applied with a separate, flat, synthetic brush and patted on, as described, but the applicator on its own often over-applied product and made it difficult to achieve precision application and avoid product settling into fine lines (due to too much product being on the lid). The formula dried down and set quickly overall, so when I used it to highlight the inner corner, on my lower lash line, or layered on top of other powder eyeshadow, I had no trouble with it getting into fine lines.

Macchiato Madness
Too Faced Macchiato Madness Twinkle Twinkle Liquid Glitter Eye Shadow ($22.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a deep, chocolatly brown with multi-colored flekcs of chunky, larger-sized glitter over a pearlescent base. The glitter particles seemed to be dominated by violet and gold. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage using a second layer (just wait for the first one to set). The texture was thin, watery, and easy to spread across the skin, though I was impressed by how evenly the base color applied. It dried down quickly and stayed on well for over 12 hours without fallout, flaking, or creasing.

Citrus Mistress
Too Faced Citrus Mistress Twinkle Twinkle Liquid Glitter Eye Shadow ($22.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and large, gold glitter. It had semi-sheer to medium coverage between the base color and amount of sparkle/glitter, which applied best (with highest chance at more opaque coverage) with a flat, synthetic brush patted/pressed into place and left to dry. I did not find difficult to use so much as it seemed poorly marketed as it was quite pretty layered over other products or applied on the inner corner to brighten but just wasn’t a full-coverage product (as described). The consistency was watery, which made it very easy to disperse the product across a larger area but did so at the expense of coverage. It dried down quickly and locked into place without fallout for over 10 hours.

Ice Queen
Too Faced Ice Queen Twinkle Twinkle Liquid Glitter Eye Shadow ($22.00 for 0.21 oz.)
contains aqua, blue, and iridescent flecks of glitter suspended in a blue-tinted transparent base. Again, I’m not sure why these are marketed as “full-coverage,” as the base here seems intentionally sheer, and while it has a good amount of glitter, it wouldn’t be enough to offer opaque coverage in a single layer. The formula was somewhat buildable from semi-sheer to medium, but it was most usable as a layering product, whether that was over an eyeshadow, or eyeliner. It could be brushed and gently blended out as a wash of glitter on the lid with fingertips, though I think other shades worked better for that particular purpose. The texture was thin and watery, which made it easy to spread the product out, and it dried down quickly, so it didn’t get into my fine lines as it was drying down. Once it set, I didn’t notice any fallout or migration over the 12 hours I tested it for.

These shades really are quite pretty. Even Ice Queen, which I can see using over a teal or possibly something like MAC Electric Eel. What freaks me out, is that I’m thinking removal of this has got to be painful! Almost all of these have glitter that looks just a bit too large and chunky for eye usage. I know that these must be safe, as they are approved for use around the eyes, yet still.
That’s okay, though. I do have plenty of safer looking dupes for each one!
I love the shades, but not the glitter.
The only one I’m really liking is mocciato madness. But that’s pretty typical of me!!
I think I’ll stick to MAC or Stila for these!
Wow, these look and perform much better than expected! I was expecting Fall Out City, like glass in the eye, but nope. Love how they look on your lower lash line!
Wouldn’t it be something if someone missed a memo and these accidentally got marketed as eye shadows when they were actually always meant to be a dry-down lip topper like the NYX Shimmer Down product? 🙂 Of course, that still wouldn’t explain the “full-coverage” blurb. Maybe two terrible yet accidental mistakes in the same campaign? 😉
