Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

Just Peachy Mattes

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette ($45.00 for 0.48 oz.) is a new, 12-pan eyesahow palette with 11 matte finishes and one satin finish. According to the brand, the eyeshadows have “intense color payoff that’s beyond blendable.” To the touch, the formula–in general–had a drier, slightly chalky texture, and was firmer with a lot less powderiness compared to past eyeshadow releases from the brand. While they did not feel as velvety nor as finely-milled, I found them easier to work with in practice as they blended better without blending away to nothingness and were buildable when I wanted buildability.

What I did find was that a few shades–Peach Meringue, Peach Butter, Just Peachy, and Peaches and Cream–had stronger white bases and had a tendency to turn darker shades–like Peach Tart, Just Ripe, Chocolate Dipped–grayish. This was a bummer, as the majority of the palette is quite warm in undertone, so having darker shades go gray makes those shades look a lot less true-to-color.

I also noticed that those more white-based shades did not work as well on the inner corner of my eye as any wateriness seemed to travel and cause severe fading (almost erasure of the eyeshadow) shortly after, and by no means am I referring to extremely watery eyes… just a normal day and my eyes never felt like they were watering, but I could tell that they must have at some point as eyeshadow started to go missing and there was a harsher edge where it had gone missing over time. I have seen it happen on occasion with some matte eyeshadows but never as bad as with these. It did not matter if I wore Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance under those shades or not; the same thing happened.

The eyeshadows had a sweet, peachy scent to them, but I did not find it as strong or as prone to lingering compared to the Sweet Peach palette, which seemed sweeter, peachier, and I could smell that scent when I applied the eyeshadows, whereas I did not smell anything when working with Just Peachy.

Peach Meringue

Peach Meringue is a light-medium, yellowed beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a soft, smooth texture that was drier in the pan but it blended out well on the lid. It had a stronger white base to the color that had a tendency to turn darker shades in the palette grayish or chalky, which made it difficult to use as a blending shade or above the crease. It lasted for seven hours on me.

Ingredients

Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Mica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Zinc Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).

Peach Tea

Peach Tea is a light-medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage in a single layer, and it was easy to control the pigmentation I wanted, whether that was more medium or opaque. The consistency was soft, not dusty or powdery in the pan, and while it felt drier to the touch, it adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out easily. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Ingredients

Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Mica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Zinc Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Peach Cobbler

Peach Cobbler is a slightly muted, medium-dark burnt orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was good–very nearly opaque–and easily built up to full coverage with just a smidgen more product layered on top. The texture was soft and blendable, though it did feel on the drier side in the pan, and was still a thinner eyeshadow. It started to crease on me after seven hours of wear.

Ingredients

Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Mica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Zinc Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Peach Tart

Peach Tart is a dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out without turning patchy, despite having a thinner texture. It was not powdery nor was it stiff in the pan, though it had a drier feel overall that emphasized my lid’s texture a bit without primer. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Ingredients

Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Mica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Zinc Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Peach Butter

Peach Butter is a very light beige with warm, peachy undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was opaque, while the texture was soft, smooth, and not too powdery nor was it firm or stiff in the pan. It was easy to work with, though the white base turned the mid-tone and darker shades a bit grayish and ashy at times (which is not a constant issue I’ve had with these types of colors in the past, just with some of them). It lasted for just over seven hours on me before fading, though if I wore it on my inner corner, it disappeared within five hours–even over primer.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Lauroyl Lysine, Zinc Stearate, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Just Peachy (Matte)

Just Peachy (Matte) is a bright, medium coral-orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had intense color payoff that darkened slightly compared to the pan when applied to bare skin, and it only darkened a bit over the brand’s primer (but still some). The consistency was on the thinner side and drier, though it blended out well and lasted for seven hours on me.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Lauroyl Lysine, Zinc Stearate, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Peach Punch

Peach Punch is a vibrant, medium-dark pink-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The intensity of this one seemed to fade within five to ten minutes of application something more muted, though it was still quite pigmented and stayed opaque on the lid. It had a smooth, drier texture that was blendable on the lid. The color wore well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Ingredients

Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Zinc Stearate, Mica, Lauroyl Lysine, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Just Ripe

Just Ripe is a muted, dark reddish plum with warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque, and a touch more on top made it full coverage. The eyeshadow had a thin, drier texture but was not dusty or prone to sheering out on the lid; I felt like the dryness worked better for getting good coverage to actually adhere and stay on the lid over time. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before creasing.

Ingredients

Talc, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Mica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Zinc Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Peaches and Cream

Peaches and Cream is a light-medium, peachy orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, just a smidgen dusty in the pan, and felt drier and a little chalky to the touch, though I did not notice those things when I applied it to the lid, as it went on quite nicely. It had opaque coverage in a single layer, but the color darkened over time (about ten minutes) and did not appear as bright on. This shade stayed on well for seven hours, but when I placed it on my inner lid, it only managed five and a half hours–even over primer.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Lauroyl Lysine, Zinc Stearate, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Fresh Picked

Fresh Picked is a medium-dark, burnt copper with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent color payoff in a single layer, and the texture was smooth, blendable, and easy to work with on the lid, though it did have that drier, thinner texture by feel. On me, the color wore well for seven hours before creasing.

Ingredients

Talc, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Mica, Lauroyl Lysine, Zinc Stearate, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Peach Sangria

Peach Sangria is a dark, reddish berry with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of faint, fuchsia pearl. The eyeshadow’s pigmentation was opaque in one layer, while the consistency was soft, a smidgen dusty, but blendable on the lid and did not lose its intensity when applied or blended out. It wore well for seven hours on me before fading noticeably.

Ingredients

Talc, Mica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract/Oryza Sativa Extract, Zinc Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Aluminum Dimyristate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Benzyl Benzoate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Glycerin, Fragrance/Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 338, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Carmine (CI 75470). Chocolate Dipped

Chocolate Dipped is a deep brown with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff in a single layer, though it needed a second layer for full coverage. The texture was smooth to the touch with dryness present, but it did not seem to inhibit the application, as I was able to diffuse and blend it out without issue. It lasted for just over seven hours on me.

Ingredients

Overall this did okay. I could see from the swatches that it wasn’t going to be horrible but all of the shadows look like they can be worked with to get a decent look. I wonder how the issues you had with some of the more white based shadows would also occur with the original peach shadow palette? I imagine it would be the same. I wasn’t interested for myself but for my daughter. I will have to wait and swatch in person. Thank you for the quick review, Christine.

Mattes are prone to hard pan no? I didn’t find an issue when swatching at sephora. I’m sure down the road it may have issue. I don’t base my purchasing decision off of a tester though bc I know sanitizing it can cause issues as well. Take hourglass for instance. I always passed bc I’d swatch it and found it horribly dry. Then I thought maybe it was what they sprayed to sanitize it that dried out its formula. Sure enough when I bought it the formula wasn’t dry like I initially thought. I was very intrigued and happy with this palette. I was hard to pass up but I think I’ll wait for Christmas time (hopefully)

Hey girl. If you use code REDHOT25, you get 25% off your order on too faced website. . I just ordered this palette and I think with tax and shipping waived because of the code also, it was $36 out the door. I would get it now for Christmas cause I’m not sure it’s going to ever go much cheaper than that 😘

First off; I must applaud TF not putting sodium saccharin into this one as an ingredient! Jerrod, if you read this, please, please take it out of the Chocolate Bar series as well, and I will swing from the treetops singing your praises!
Secondly, I feel as if I already own so many same theme palettes and singles lately. If this had come out sooner, I may have gone for it. But I’m inundated in these shades for the foreseeable future!

Sodium Saccharin is a sulfa (not “sulfer”). There are millions of individuals who have serious, even severe sulfa allergies like myself. For those who suffer from this specific allergy, it is indeed a dangerous and potentially toxic ingredient. Don’t think anyone *really* needs a tasty eyeshadow anyway!

Argh! (>_<)
Many thanks for sending this info out into the webosphere. I, too, have a sulfa allergy and had been deliberating whether to purchase a chocolate bar palette for a looong time. Never occurred to me that I would need to check freaking eye shadows for sulfa! (<_<)

This one doesn’t call my name. I think I’m all set when it comes to matte eyeshadows for now and for a long time. I did like some of the colours, but it turned out I had dupes for them.
I am glad it performed quite well for all who likes the palette.

This palette is a pretty consistent B, which is much better than their past offerings that have been all over the place.
I am glad that the peachy scent has been toned down.
For those who love mattes and these shades, it would be a winner.
Thankyou Christine for getting the review out so quickly.

Well, I like how the colors are peachy, appropriate for the theme, but the formula sounds terrible, and the scent/fragrance is a deal breaker. By now, I have dupes galore, including my Sephora x Moschino teddy bear –it’s loaded with good quality, peach colored shadows and no scent.

Great review as always, Christine! This looks like a possible must-have for me. Do you know if this is a Sephora exclusive? I tried to find details on the interwebs regarding Ulta release date but came up empty.

I tried to buy this palette today (6th September) From their original website and it wasn’t there, i also Cannot Find it in any other websites, So do you know if they are out of stock,? and will they make more?

Ahhh… I am very, very conflicted on this one. On one hand, it contains ALL the mattes that I use for every make up look! It is quite hard for me to resist all these delicious transition shades and I know this would be great for travelling, since it really has everything I need. On the other hand, I already own Colourpop’s Wait for it and Making Moves, Coastal Scents’ Oatmeal Tan and Tuscany and Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie and Cocoa Bear, plus the Zoeva Smoky palette or Kat von D’s contour palette for the darker shades, so this gorgeous palette might be a little redundant even if those are the colors I use the most. Also, since last year I am trying to support Italian indie natural brands (like Nabla, Neve, Alkemilla and PuroBIO) and I only buy new stuff from them, so by purchasing this I would break my rule and maybe splurge for a palette that is not on par with some of my single eyeshadows quality-wise (I have never tried TF’s shadows). But still, this palette is so pretty and right down my alley! WHAT SHOULD I DOOO 😱😱

Hi Christine,
Can you compare this palette to the zoeva matte one? They seem pretty similar just by looking at the palette. I can’t decide which one should I go for.
Thanks a lot
