Too Faced Baby Love Love Flush Blush ($26.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “soft dusty nude with fine gold sparkle.” It’s a muted, medium rosy plum with subtle, warm undertones and a dusting of gold shimmer and sparkle. Urban Decay Fetish (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Tarte Empowering (LE, $26.00) is lighter. Tarina Tarantino Neopolitan Lane (P, $25.00) is warmer. Tarte Elevated (LE, $26.00) is lighter. Hourglass Mood Exposure (P, $35.00) is warmer. Giorgio Armani Daybreak (503) (P, $46.00) is lighter. MAC Corol #2 (LE, $21.00) is warmer. Surratt Beauty La Vie En Rose (P, $32.00) is more shimmery. Tarte Celebrated (LE, $26.00) is lighter. YSL Passionnee (6) (P, $47.00) is more shimmery, cooler. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a soft, blendable consistency that sat well on the skin without emphasizing pores or the natural texture. This shade lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before fading, which is quite a ways from the 16-hours promised (but decent wear if you ignore that tall claim).

Formula Summary | Too Faced Love Flush Blush ($26.00 for 0.21 oz.) is supposed to be an exceptionally long-wearing (16 hours), pigmented, and “buttery soft” blush. It’s a nice blush, but unsurprisingly, it doesn’t last 16 hours. Some shades last eight hours, others last a little closer to ten hours–it is nice wear for powder blush generally, but you’ll find that many shades’ ratings took a hit because of the 16-hour wear claim. The blush has a soft texture that’s just firm enough not to kick up a lot of excess powder, but it’s not too firm where you can’t get good color payoff when you use it. Pigmentation varied from shade to shade and ranged from semi-opaque to totally opaque, while the blush tended to blend well on the skin with a satin to luminous finish. The compacts may be a little hard to open if you have larger fingers/hands (like me), and sometimes I felt like the pattern made it harder to get good pigmentation out of the blush if I used a more feathery brush.

I thought this looked like Surratt La Vie En Rose, and sure enough, it’s listed as a dupe, so I don’t need this one. But I’m eyeing some of the other colors….Christine, if they hadn’t made that ridiculous 16 hour wear claim, what would the rating have been?

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh, got it. So if they didn’t make that crazy 16 hr wear claim, the total points would have been 40/45= 89%, which would’ve generated a B+ instead of a B-

Upon reading this adjustment, this is now a must-have for me! Thank you Katherine T for this question, and thank you Christine, for that answer!

Nicole Avatar

I agree, Thank you Katherine for the question. On my wish list now too! I don’t have any of the dupes..beautiful color and reasonable price..check and check. Well, looks like my wallet will hate me when I am recovering, lol.

Gotta say…. that blush looks absolutely beautiful on you. I was honestly first interested in these blushes because of the packaging (lol) but I’ve held off on buying it cause it wouldn’t sit right with me to just buy anything because of packaging. For now I’m gonna hold off on buying before I test the pigmentation out myself. I like my blushes to be opaque yaknow? Hope the other shades work out

Tessa Avatar

Haha, the packaging is one of the virtues, for me! I’ve (mostly/kinda/sometimes) embraced my love of absurd and overly kitschy cute things. I basically woke up one day and said, “Yes, self, you are the sort of person who owns millions of snowman figurines to blanket your home every winter.”

But I get it about “I WOULD like it… except for the marketing.” The worst offenders for me are the weirdly sexual mascara names. They’re Real, Better Than Sex, Lash Domination — just no, for me!

I love this color. Tarte Exposed is another dupe I think. I’ve recently been collecting a lot of “nude” blushes though so I don’t need any new ones, at least not for $26 bucks.

When I first started wearing makeup, my first palette was a Too Faced Palette. I went through the blush in that palette so quick and loved it so much. Went to Sephora to look for just that blush and found out that they didn’t have actual individual blushes at that time. I was so upset. Of course that opened me up to the rest of the humongous world of makeup so I am not mad anymore :-). Yay for Too Faced having permanent individual blushes.

I like this color more than I thought I would! Three others in this line are already calling my name. Trying to remember I’m an adult and don’t NEED adorable bunnies in a heart shaped pan. ~Sigh~

So many brands put out ridiculous claims they can never fulfill, which makes good products look worse in comparison to the description. If TF had described these as 8-hour wear (or even maybe 10) thy would have gotten a much better review, and 8 hours still looks really good to me as a customer when I see it on a description.

Rant aside, this is very pretty blush and I’m excited to see the rest!!

Christine Avatar

Right? 16-hours is a very long time, and I don’t really know why more brands don’t embrace a more reasonable/realistic way of presenting claims. You’ll see brands put these extremely long wear-times right in the product’s name, so it’s hard to ignore!

Jen Avatar

Love the color and it looks great on you! Not sure I’ll invest at that price, but it’s been a while since I bought a HE blush. What lippie are you wearing in this pic (love that!)?

I was hoping this would be more similar to NARS Douceur, but it’s not even close… However, this post may have given me the push to trek to the Tarina Tarantino boutique, and check out Neopolitan Lane, LOL! Distance-wise, it’s not that far, but it’s not in an area I frequent these days.

I do like the fact these are talc-free, and this one is pretty, and I’m looking forward to swatching ot myself to see if it (or one of the others) will work for me.

I really love how this shade gives off a very natural looking flush with a bit of a “just in out of the sun” semi-bronzey look! Very realistic and sunny!

Staci Avatar

This just doesn’t look like adult makeup. I like cute, but this packaging crossed the line into childish for me. The whole collection is a pass.

Nicole Avatar

Haha..It makes me wonder what may have been the inspiration for the need for a 16 hour wearing blush? I used to work 12 hour shifts which would turn into 13. Those would send me close to hallucinating. I can’t imagine needing my blush to be on for 16 hours. I don’t think I would care at all about my blush at that point! lol

Lulu Avatar

First of all, Christine this looks great on you. I actually own this blush (I think it’s “I will always love you”) and it’s a wonderful coral and I have warm undertones. I work in an hospital, and I must say, it lasted all day under sweaty conditions. That being said, in the morning, I do have trouble getting the package open and that IS my major gripe. But otherwise great color payoff, not “clownish” and illuminating without being sparkly.

Cat Avatar

Oh, wow! That blush looks gorgeous on you! You look like you’ve been vacationing in the Mediterranean islands. I doubt it would perform such magic on me… but I will definitely swatch it when I get the chance! I’m pretty sure that I don’t have anything like it in my collection.

Ashleigh Avatar

One of my favorite blushes is Tarte Exposed, and side by side they look very similar.
I give them points for packaging, but like you that 16 hour wear claim makes me frown as a consumer. 🙁 I look forward to your review on the other colors!

Agnès from Paris Avatar

Hi Christine, is it possible to have a photo of the top of the box to see what it looks like please ?
It should look nice with this heart shape !

Agnès from Paris Avatar

I wanted to say : if we take the 4th photo, what does it look like on the other side of the heart ? (excuse my poor English, I hope it sounds clearer) 🙂

Stephanie Avatar

How does thi blush compare to mac gingerly/blushbaby? I really want gingerly but the too faced blushes are so pretty and they dont test on animals!!
