Tom Ford Soleil Lip Colors Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 1)
Private Life (01)
Tom Ford Private Life (01) Soleil Lip Foil ($53.00 for 0.10 oz.) is light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a fine, pearly sheen. It had medium coverage, which was somewhat buildable, but opaque coverage wans’t possible.
The Soleil Lip Foil formula is described as having a “vibrant, reflective-foil finish” that goes on with “smooth, even application for brilliant, luxurious vibrancy.” The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and thinner with minimal slip, so I was surprised to find some of the color gathered in my lip lines after applying it. I found the formula to be lightly moisturizing over the four hours it lasted, though. I think this would work better layered over another lipstick or lip pencil.

Spanish Flame (02)
Tom Ford Spanish Flame (02) Soleil Lip Foil ($53.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark rosy copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff that applied evenly.
The texture was smooth, firmer but not stiff, and it glided across the lips without tugging. I could tell it had more shimmer in it by feel alone, but I wouldn’t describe it as gritty or glittery. I was able to wear this shade for four and a half hours, and it was lightly hydrating.

Aperture (03)
Tom Ford Aperture (03) Soleil Lip Foil ($53.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep brown with warm, red undertones and plum, violet, and teal pearl. This one looked more dimensional in person than captured on photo, sadly! I was really caught by surprise at how visible some of the teal flecks were on the lips. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly.
This shade had a much smoother, creamier feel on the lips without having a lot of slip, so it adhered better to lips and lasted longer (five and a half hours), but it was still moisturizing and comfortable to wear.

So pretty, so pricey! Thank goodness for your awesome dupe lists. Aperture is beautiful but I’m just not plunking down $53 for a lipstick. Maybe I’ll try for MAC’s I Get So OOC instead… $20/ tube seems like a bargain in comparison ?
Happy I could help! 🙂
Aperture is flippin’ amazeballs!!! What a luxe and unique shade due to it having multicolored shimmer particles! If I bought it, I’d likely wear it to death.
This will be super difficult to resist. I’m feeling torn between this and MAC x Mariah Carey I Get So OOC. Very similar shades, but one has multicolored shimmer…but I love Mimi! And butterflies, for a very special reason. Torn, I tell ya!
The teal sparkle in it is amazing, Nancy!
All the colors look amazing on you! I don’t know what you are doing lately but everything looks so good on you and makes me want to buy it all.
Thanks, Paola!
Spanish Flame is such a nice gold color for the holidays, maybe a bit of lip balm will help prevent settling into lip lines. . I like Aperture, but I already have UD Roach, and I’m getting MAC Mariah I’m So OOC, so I’m covered. Thanks for reviewing though, I was so curious about these
That might help to give Spanish Flame more slip, Katherine!
I wasn’t expecting to love Aperture, but I do! I wonder if it has enough red (and violet flecks) in it to work well on me. Maybe the Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus near me will get these in, and I can try it out! (It doesn’t look like they have them as of now… )
Me neither, Fran! Fingers crossed you can try it.
As I expected Spanish Flame and Aperture are really beautiful. I was only planning on getting one of these but I may have to pick them both up. Thank you for the review Christine.
You’re welcome, Deborah!
Aperture is very pretty and looks beautiful on you Christine.
Thank you, Maria!
Spanish Flame looks really stunning on you. They all look good but that just looks like it was made for you!
Aw, thank you Erin!
Oooh both of them are so pretty! And they rated well. I do really like that Aperature is more unique and I think that one is really worth the price tag.
I like that it isn’t quite as glossy as UD’s metallic shades but feels more comfortable than metallic mattes!
OMG – I just love Aperture – such an unusual shade. Beautiful on you Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve!
Spanish Flame is stunning. I don’t think I will be able to resist despite the high cost.
Your poor wallet!!
Aperture is very interesting. I found all of them very pretty, but Aperture is not as dupeable as the others. I don’t think I’ll get it, but if I do, you all will be the first to know 🙂
🙂
I’m so glad I bought all these some of them have new lips and boys dupes so now I know which of those I can cross off my list.I needed to narrow down my Lips and Boys picks because I want them all!!
Woohoo! 🙂
Aperture looks absolutely amazing. <3 At this price, though, I'll have to stay happy with UD Roach.
