Tom Ford Pink Sand Cream Cheek Color Review, Photos, Swatches
Tom Ford Pink Sand Cream Cheek Color
Tom Ford Pink Sand Cream Cheek Color ($65.00 for 0.17 oz.) is described as a “pearlized peach-pink.” It’s a light-medium pink with warm undertones and gold shimmer. MAC Red Obsessed (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery. Benefit Bella Bamba (Palette) (P, $28.00) is a powder. Laura Mercier Golden Pink (LE, $35.00) is lighter. Tarina Tarantino Feather (P, $25.00) is a powder. Tarte Glisten (P, $26.00) is darker, powder. Charlotte Tilbury Love Glow (P, $40.00) is a powder. Tom Ford Beauty Love Lust (P, $55.00) is darker, warmer, powder. NARS Orgasm (P, $30.00) is a powder. Milani Dolce Pink (P, $7.99) is a powder. MAC Springsheen (P, $21.00) is a powder. MAC Dainty (P, $27.00) is a powder. Guerlain Blush G (LE, $65.00) is a powder. Benefit Bella Bamba (P, $28.00) is darker, powder. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
It has a thin, emollient texture with a light tackiness, and it never fully dries down/sets so there is always a sheen. It worked best over bare skin, but it is possible to apply over liquid foundation, though I recommend either patting on with light pressure or applying while the liquid foundation is drying down (so there’s some dampness to it) to minimize disturbing your underlying base products. The blush was blendable on the skin and looked even. It had semi-sheer coverage–and the brand only describes it as a “healthy glow and natural burst of color”–that builds to semi-opaque at most. It’s predominantly a highlighter on my medium skin tone with only smidgen of pink appearing on the skin. I think fairer complexions will be able to use this more as a blush as well as to add radiance. The finish has a moderate shine and looks luminous on the skin without emphasizing pores. On my normal skin, it lasted for seven and a half hours before starting to break down.

Although it gets a B from you, I still love the way it looks! Although I probably won’t get it if it’s not an A product at that price point.
It is pretty!
i think you look beautiful in these colors but, again, i think this collection will be a pass for me especially looking at the ad campaign. i can understand putting this on bare skin but, i would not be able to do that. i emailed tom ford and asked what products model daphne is exactly wearing in this ad campaign. from the information, quite alot especially, for the skin. although, i’m questioning the accuracy because the email said “metallic pink” for eyeliner and unless it’s a european exclusive, nobody has heard of that. i really like to know the exact products and what the creator’s vision was…..anyway, with all the new blushes that have come out during spring, i’m going to look at those selections instead. especially, the blushes you rated A+. i am kinda surprised a bit about the ratings so far…….xo.
Tom Ford sent me the list on Friday:
Intensive Infusion Ultra Rich Moisturizer/Illuminating Primer
Traceless Foundation SPF 15
Concealing Pen
Shade and Illuminate
Brow Sculptor in Taupe
Cream and Powder Eye Color in Naked Bronze
Cream: brush along lash line, over the lid and underneath the eye, blend up towards the brow
Powder shade: apply to inner corner of eye and over lid
Eye Defining Pencil in Metallic Mink
Extreme Mascara in Raven
Lip Color Sheer in Skinnydip
Cream Cheek Color in Pink Sand
Bronzing Powder
Shimmering Body Oil on body
I would have to take out a 2nd mortgage to look like that model (LOL). I guess it takes a lot of products to get that “natural” look (sigh)
Nooo…. I was hoping this one will get a good rating from you. I hate blush that is not pigmented. I love his blusher but I might skipping this one. Thank you for the review Christine. You rock as always 🙂
Aww, sorry love! Wish I had better news for ya!
Hmm. I was about to pull the trigger like 3 times for this blush, but I’m glad I’ve seen your review now Christine. During the summer I usually become an NC 30/ NC 35 so this may not give me a more pronounced effect like I thought it might. I may not want to put down the $65.00 for it as I feel it may not be worth it for me personally. But I am still not sure. Do you mind sharing your personal thoughts on whether or not you think this would be worth the price tag ? Thanks so much.
I’m about NC25 right now, and yeah, if you get towards NC35 in the summer, it may be very subtle on you. I’d rather go for a Chanel or MUFE cream blush instead – both are excellent cream formulas that are long-wearing and have a more powder-like dry down, so I think they’ll have better results on most skin types.
Ok! Thanks for the advice Christine ! I appreciate it. 🙂
Well that review just saved me some $$$ ! It needs at least an A- I my book for that price. Thanks for reviewing so quickly!!
No problem, Jk!
Thank you for getting these reviews up so quickly! So, when you suggest applying while your foundation is still damp, do you mean to set with powder after or not set with powder? I thought for a second about cancelling this. But, I think this is really pretty. It’s pretty unique for my collection too. I don’t tend to wear heavy base products in the summer and a lot of the time concealer only. So, I think this will be great for me. Do you think this will layer ok with a powder blush? Thanks again Christine!
Before powder – and I’d set with powder still, but I wouldn’t do it on the apples of the cheeks (I wouldn’t worry too much about making sure NO POWDER EVER! got there, but I specifically wouldn’t dust over the apples).
I think it will layer fine with a powder blush, though! 🙂
Got it! Thanks!:)
Hmmmm. Loving this product too by TF. But 65.00 for blush, OUCH. That MAC dupe looks awfully close and I don’t have Obsessed by MAC. Is really as close in person as it is in the photo? Or did you find the TF product had some really different characteristics?

This was in my shopping cart for pre-order on the Tom Ford site when you posted your review, and I’m so glad that I saw this post before I completed my order! With my super-oily skin, I don’t think I would care for the texture, so I’m hoping I can choose a Clinique Cheek Pop to mimic the look from the TF promo pic.
I hope the Cheek Pop will work for you, Cheyenne! The texture definitely would make me weary for really oily skin types, just since it doesn’t turn to a powder-like finish or REALLY dry down.
Something told me to take a pass on the cream blush and seeing your review makes me glad I did. I think Bobbi Brown had a blush called Pink Sand and it was a personal favourite for years in the early 2000’s. These hot pink colours look really amazing layered over a dusting of bronzer, but this one doesn’t have enough pigmentation in my opinion to step up to that job; at least for my tastes and skintones.
It’s pretty subtle. I was reminded of Firelust, but this is pinker and probably a bit more concentrated.
Not enough pigment to show up on me in the summer, but really pretty!
Definitely better for fairer complexions!
Interesting – to me, the layered blushes from the Pink Glow compact product a very similar effect to the cream blush on its own. Does that seem accurate in person?
The cream blush is a definite pass, especially without knowing what’s in it. (Assuming all of these even end up being available in the UK!) I have the Benefit Box O’ Powders, the Dollface blush in Feather, and a lovely golden pink Bourjois powder blush already. Those will more than do me.
I don’t think they’re alike, since the blush in the palette is very plum + everything is intensely pigmented 🙂 The sheen is glossier, but I think the colors are totallyyy different. Maybe if you’re very fair and only apply the powder blushes with an ultra light hand you’d get the same subtle color!
Since I’m so very pale I think it’s perfect, however it is pricey
It is pricey!
Same here. It’s really beautiful, but too much for me to spend on a blush.
I was actually quite pleased to read that this is on the translucent side. I’m NC15 and must always apply more intense blushers with a fan brush so that I don’t have “clown cheeks”. I know many women love pigment, pigment, and more pigment, but there are also a bunch of us out there who prefer our blushers and bronzers to be more sheer and delicate. It looks really beautiful on you, Christine–subtle and natural. So, Pink Sand is staying on my wishlist 🙂
I’m glad it will work for you, Eileen! 🙂
Such a terrific observation, Eileen and the reason I love makeup so much. Subtle changes in texture, colour, opacity, etc..can make or break a product from one person to the next. What may be wrong for me, can be i hear the bells halleluja HG for you.
I could tell that it was slightly tacky from your photos – I am not sure whether I would like this or not. But the colour looks lovely on you Christine.
Do you have any cream blushes that you like that don’t quite dry down?
Too bad it’s not more pigmented, we have the same undertone, but I’m a few shades darker (NC 30/35) so I imagine it wouldn’t look pink at all on me.
It’ll probably be more sheen than color IMO!
This looks so beautiful on you! I actually really like this look for everyday, easy, effortless make up etc. I just can’t justify the price personally but love the dewy effect with subtle color. I’m a sucker for cream blush though……….
Thank you, Spring! 🙂
I love the way it looks but the never setting thing would drive me bananas!
I could totally see that, lol!
This one also looks pretty! You always look lovely in pinks, imo.
Thank you 😀
Interesting this us made in Canada. Wonder if it is from the same lab as MAC?
When I visited one of their labs in Canada, they made multiple brands there (I remember Bobbi Brown and MAC off the top of my head), so it’s possible. It did sound like certain factories produced certain products – e.g. all eyeliners are probably produced in Germany.
I’m in love with this but hesitated because of the price. However, I just checked my MUF, Bobbi Brown & Chanel cream blushes & they ALL hold significantly less product than this blush. Nearly half this amount, in most cases…so I do believe I’m going to plunk down the cash for this. It’s gorgeous!
I’ll be curious to see if you cave 😉
This product got me hunting through my stash right away because it triggered something in my memory…..lo & behold, I found a cream blush I bought last year which is so incredibly similar to this – Joe Fresh cream blush/highlighter in Ignite, believe it or not (paid about $3 on clearance) – and it seems to be very similar in formula to this as well. I may give this one a pass because of it….although you never know 🙂 I may not be able to resist!
I’ll just to see if you haul it or not! 🙂
I like the packaging but I find the product totally unremarkable.
It’s definitely not a groundbreaking color!
