Tom Ford Olivier, Pablo, Xavier, Liam Lip Colors
Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is segmented into color families, and this post features the “violets to orchids.” Of these, Pablo performed the best, while Liam was the more unique shade here. This is the last of the Lips & Boys reviews (all rejoice!), which means round-ups are next. 🙂
Presently, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks are both accepting pre-orders for the Lips & Boys collection; they officially release on December 26th (and will also be at other retailers and Tom Ford’s website at that time). Nordstrom also put up various trios (no savings, they’re $96 each) for pre-order. Neiman Marcus has a gift card event thorugh 12/16 that includes the Lips & Boys.
The Lips & Boys shades seem a lot smaller than the full-sized Lip Colors in their tubes, but in terms of actual product, it’s 0.07 oz. vs. 0.10 oz. These are actually cheaper by the ounce at $457.14/oz. compared to $500/oz. for full-size. I liked that the packaging felt the same as full-sized, just smaller, but it didn’t feel cheapened. The bullet of lipstick itself was also wide enough at the base that it didn’t feel really skinny or difficult to use, and it wasn’t prone at breaking at the base as some miniature-sized lipsticks are.
Olivier Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light, frosted pink-lavender with cool undertones. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that looked somewhat streaky applied, and it didn’t have a very smooth, even finish. The consistency was such that the shimmer tended to bunch up on itself. On me, it was somewhat drying and only lasted for three hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Julian Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) was reviewed previously here.
Pablo Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a bold, brightened magenta fuchsia with cool, blue undertones and a very fine shimmer. The finish was more luminous, not quite glossy, but definitely had a shine to it. The coverage was mostly opaque, but it’s the type of finish where the natural lip color will peek through very slightly. The color wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating while worn. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Xavier Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, raspberry pink with cool undertones and a subtle pearl shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage–noticeable color but a fair amount of the natural lip color will come through. It lasted for five hours on me and was lightly hydrating. Xavier is also the same as Violet Fatale. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Liam Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark purple with hints of pink and very fine pearl. It had decent color payoff, but it wasn’t fully opaque. The consistency was creamy, lightly emollient, and applied without tugging but wasn’t perfectly even once on. This shade lasted for five hours on me and was hydrating while worn. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I *did* think Aubergine from Bite soon as I saw Xavier – and then I see it first on the Dupe list and realise its NOT that similar!! Funny how our eyes and memories play tricks on us. Regardless – that one looks SO beautiful on you. Such a WOW shade!! Love Julian too. Still lusting after Giacomo right now….maybe in the new year if its stil around!
Julian is really nice! 🙂 Very easy to wear.
I really like Liam, I told myself no more but I may have to get this as my very last one. Thanks for all of your reviews and details on all of these, it’s been really helpful!
My pleasure, Alice! xo
Thank you so much Christine, I’ve been waiting for this batch, yay! & I really love Pablo!
Hope it was worth the wait, haha!
They’re already back up on nordstrom.com!
Yay!
Oooh, Liam is really gorgeous! And I don’t have this color in my collection. But I’m eyeing the Bite dupe because it’s more pigmented, applies better, and leaves a slight stain.
It is a really cool color!
I want Julian & Liam!
Both are nice picks!
Pablo and Liam are gorgeous colors!
I really like Liam, too!
Xavier is my favorite out of this grouping even though Pablo is also very nice.
Xavier is a fun shade!
Olivier is too light and frosty for my tastes, but the others are right up my alley.
At least one is a skip… haha 😉
