Lust for Life

Tom Ford Lust for Life Shimmer Shot ($45.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and fine, golden pearl. It’s supposed to be a sheerer, liquid highlighter that can be used alone on the high points of the face or mixed in with liquid foundation. Most liquid highlighters tend to be on the sheerer side, like this one, which was semi-sheer, moderately buildable, but the thinner, more water-like texture made it very easy to sheer out further and spread across a large area of skin with minimal color impact and subdued, fine pearl.

The consistency was thicker than pure water, but it never felt heavy on the skin. When I patted it onto cheeks with my fingertip, I saw some color–mostly warmth–and a natural sheen that did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture. The product never fully dried down but wasn’t tacky and did not seem to migrate too much (it wore nicely for about seven hours)–I looked dewy without looking oily. I felt like there was more shimmer to it than some of the sheerer liquid highlighters on the market (Giorgio Armani, Becca) but was still a finer size so that it didn’t look like big chunks of sparkle on the skin. It incorporated well with liquid foundations, though the effect was even more subtle that way (I couldn’t even capture it on camera, but it gave my foundations a slightly dewier finish).

Hi Christine, I read your review with interest as I recently ordered the Pink Shimmer Shot (Spin, Spin Sugar). Can Lust for Life be worn by those with fair or fair-medium complexions? How these products compare to Love Lust? Love Lust gives me some color but does not replace blush; adds warmth.

Bellisimo! But lucky me, I have Estee Edit Beachy in my sweet little G&G palette duo! I’m going to hold out in hopes that GA brings back his #14 Fluid Sheer eventually….?

Speaking of TF, I’m going to see if the local Nordies or NM has his Foils in to test tonight. Aiming to see how I like (or Love) Aperture or Seadragon on myself. I suppose I ought to keep the rest of my face more tame today.

Ha, Nancy – you bought Gritty & Glow too? Like I said, I think we’re makeup twins separated at birth. I love the eyeshadows in the G&G set but wasn’t too keen on the “highlighter” palette til I started to use it. It’s really nice to have!

It’s too warm and dark for me, but for those who can wear this, love the shimmery finish, nice way to perk up the skin during winter

I was waiting for a review before I indulged, even though this at $45.00 is almost “cheap” for Tom, he must have been in the holiday spirit when he ok’d the pricing lol.

I have the fire lust liquid highlighter and don’t care for its scent. Does this one have the same scent? Also I have one of the Estee Edit ones that is a dupe,.Although it sheers out ,but not without effort .Mine is thick and comes out of the pump like a teeny stream of toothpaste. How does this compare to that?
