Tom Ford Double Indemnity Eye Color Quad Review & Swatches
Double Indemnity (05)
Tom Ford Beauty Double Indemnity (05) Eye Color Quad ($88.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a new, permanent quad that features a pale white, faded green, taupe, and sparkly black. There was a nice amount of contrast between light and dark, though those who are serious about having at least one matte will be less enthused that all four shades have shimmer to them with the sparkly black having the least shimmer. The eyeshadows were pigmented, smooth, blendable, and easy to work with. The gel-powder formula used in this quad, and the two others released alongside it, seems slightly softer and silkier than past iterations by the brand.

Double Indemnity #1
Double Indemnity #1 is a bright, warm white with a twinkling, metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation applied dry but had a slightly smoother and more opaque coverage when applied with a wet brush. The texture felt smooth, softer than past iterations of the brand’s gel-powder formula, and was blendable without being prone to sheering out. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before fading slightly.

Double Indemnity #2
Double Indemnity #2 is a muted, light-medium green with warm undertones and a frosted finish. The one thing I noticed was that when I applied and blended it out with the other shades in the palette, it didn’t appear as green–almost like a dirty pewter. It had good color payoff that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer when applied dry and full coverage in one layer when applied with a wet brush. The texture was soft, smooth, and finely-milled with a denser, slightly firmer feel but was more yielding than most types of this formula (including past versions in the quads). It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Double Indemnity #3
Double Indemnity #3 is a medium-dark taupe-brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a satin sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, blendable texture that was dense without being too firmly pressed in the pan. It appeared deeper and slightly cooler-toned when applied with a wet brush but the coverage was still opaque with a dry brush. This shade lasted well for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Double Indemnity #4
Double Indemnity #4 is a medium-dark black with neutral-to-cool undertones and flecks of multi-colored sparkle over a more matte finish. Applied dry, it had good color payoff in a single layer but was softer and had light fallout during application, though a good amount of the sparkle got lost in my brush. Applied wet, it had rich pigmentation and had more sparkles that showed up on my lid with a bit less fallout. The texture was soft, a little drier than the other shades but blendable. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading a bit on me.

I’m really in love with this unique color combination. It’s not easily duped in my own collection, aside from the black.
This quad appeals to me more than the last one did. I really love the #1 shade but usually don’t use a shimmer on my brow bone. Overall, a really pretty quad and one I could see myself using for more neutral looks. At the price point, I am glad to see it reviewed well. I love it used with the pop of colour that you did in your eye look and since I just picked up Persian Rose, I might have to try and recreate your eye look. I say it a lot but you are so talented in your application and your colour combinations.
At a ridiculous $105 here, as nice as this is, it is simply way too pricey so I’ll be happily duping these very dupe-able (colour and quality) shadows.
Oy vey, but I am really taken by this quad! And I don’t want to be! I’m pretty sure that I can replicate something similar with what I already have…I think? I do have dupes for the gray-green and black. There must be the other 2 around here somewhere!
Then again, this looks so silken and “melted”, that I don’t know if anything here would have that particular effect.
I think I can dupe this quad but I would not have been interested if you had not created a look with the pop of red. Neutral looks tend to get lost behind my glasses. Let me say once more how much I admire your talent and creativity.
The gray-green-gold shade looks like it might complement olive tones (like me) well. Sign me up for dirty pewter!!!
Nice one! Finally a quad with four distinct colors that’s a bit outside the box to boot. I’m guessing you enjoyed playing with this one, Christine. 🙂
I actually didn’t care for this on me at all!
Oh no! Well, somehow you make everything look good, even when it’s not your preference.
Thank you – eye of the beholder and all that 😉
A stunning little quad and I love the inclusion of that beautiful pewter green shade. Beautiful eye look with that touch of plum too Christine.
I really like this!
I actually love this quad. For the neutral-cool toned, THIS is a neutral palette. And that pewter-green is stunning. More of a fall palette I would say but still beautiful.
