Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is segmented into color families, and this post features the “plums.” I loved how the range incorporated cooler and warmer-toned plums and from lighter to deeper shades. This was one of the better-performing families in the 50-shade range.

Collin Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plummy rose with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that went on evenly and was comfortable to wear. The consistency was lightly creamy, while this shade lasted for four and a half hours on me and was lightly hydrating. Collin is the same as Indian Rose. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Cary Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a warm, plummy red with a satin finish. It’s darker and warmer compared to Collin with a redder tone to it overall. It had mostly opaque color coverage that applied evenly and looked smooth on the lips. It wore well for five hours on me, was lightly hydrating, and comfortable to wear. Cary is the same as Casablanca. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Didier Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a cool-toned, berry-red with subtle fuchsia shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered evenly but the natural lip color will come through so those with more naturally pigmented lips may find this turns redder. The color lasted well for five hours, was lightly hydrating, and left behind a subtle stain. Didier is the same as Moroccan Rouge. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Guillermo Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a plummy brown with warm undertones and a very fine, softened gold shimmer. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a creamy, easy-to-apply consistency that went on smoothly and evenly. This shade wore well for five hours on me and was nicely hydrating over time. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Wes Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a deepened, burgundy-red with ruby red shimmer. It was semi-opaque with a very slippery, emollient consistency that tended to move around. I had feathering with this shade after three hours of wear (total wear time was five), and I don’t usually get feathering. It tended to sink into lip lines and could look streaky, particularly if you pressed your lips together. I think this one needs a lip pencil and to be applied using a lip brush to be wearable. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Yay, finally….Plums are my colors! I can wear all of these, but Guillermo is calling my name. I’m SO glad brown-based lipsticks are back, as they look great on me, and I’m a sucker for gold shimmer. If I can get my hands on Guillermo, it’s going to be my first Tom Ford purchase.

oh no!!! i have gotten about nine of the lips and boys-from this set i got didier and wes, i think. but the other three are killing me! they look gorgeous on you. they had all of these last week at nordstrom in scottsdale. i might have to go see if they still have these and maybe return wes.

So bummed to hear that Wes was such a miss; I have that on pre-order, as well as Cary and Didier. It’s a stunning color nonetheless, and I really hope it will work with a lip pencil!

I finally got my second order in yesterday! Applying Wes on top of a clear lip pencil significantly mediated the streaky effect from pressing one’s lips together, made the shade wear better over time, and unsurprisingly fixed the slippy, emollient texture of this shade. It is, however, extremely unforgiving towards dried lips, and I had to be sure to exfoliate before applying this. Your recommendations and suggestions throughout this collection were so thorough and on point; because of you I was able to narrow down my selections significantly. These series were by far my absolute favorite reviews of last year. Thank you so so much, you’re amazing!

Ouch..I pre-ordered, in my “Merry Christmas to me” spree last week, the 3 piece set “Hollywood Boys” form Nordstrom which I am pretty sure includes Wes, which was one I fell in love with at the sight of the swatch. Ugh..the set is now sold out now on Nordstrom’s site. I hope it works well with a liner which I normally do anyway, especially with deeper colors. I really am finding myself loving just about all the shades in this line. I really wish it would go into the permanent line. So many to choose from, too little time!

stunning lipsticks tom ford has came out with…i dont own anything tom ford, i would like a honest answer ? are his lipsticks any better than any other highend ? i just can’t see spending 50$ or more on 1 item

Christine Avatar

It depends on what you’re looking for in a lipstick, and I don’t think that it is dollar for dollar better. I also think you can find an excellent lipstick for $5 as well as $50 as far as formula goes. Some of them are really nice, some of them are misses.

Would you say Cary is at all like Mac’s Brick-O-La? I saw Cary used in a gorgeous look recently, so I’ve been going through my stash trying to find something similar.

Jill Avatar

Hi! Cary was one of the 3 I picked out. I find it to be a dupe for the Chantecaille lipstick”Lotus” that is already in my collection! IMO, it is plum.
