Tom Ford Black Out Nail Lacquer
Tom Ford Black Out Nail Lacquer ($35.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a deep, gray-black with very fine silver shimmer paired with cool undertones. Color Club Show Time (P, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). L'Oreal Drop Dead Gorgeous (P, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Illamasqua Creator (P, $17.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Batty (P, $10.00) is more shimmery, darker, glossier (90% similar). Chanel Cosmic (LE, $28.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). L'Oreal The Queen's Ambition (LE, ) is more shimmery (90% similar). Rescue Beauty Lounge Fashion Polish (LE, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
It was nearly opaque in a single coat, though I applied two for good measure. The consistency was not too thick or too thin, so it flowed easily across the nail with even coverage and didn’t gather along the edges. I didn’t notice any brush strokes, bubbling, or unevenness, and the shimmer is so fine that the nail feels completely smooth once everything dries down. I think that the shimmer is almost too fine, because it does get lost in the strong black base; it almost provides more of a break in the way it looks as far as texture goes than being a shimmery shade. On me, the polish wore well for seven days with minor tip wear but no chipping.

A good black nail never goes out of style, I like it!
That’s true!
Agreed! I like it too!
So pretty. But, I just don’t know if I can pay that much for it.
I don’t think it’s necessary! Lots of similar shades for less in great formulas 😉
I honestly love the softening effect of the silver shimmer particles! This is great to see, because I have a gorgeous $2 dupe, Electric by Pure Ice that lasts a good 5-6 days before it gets icky-looking. However, the Color Club version would probably wear like iron based on how my other CC np wears.
Haha! Yay for $2 dupes 😉
I think the other dupes have more visible glitter for cheaper!
Yay! 🙂
A beautiful black but too pricey for me to spend on a black nail polish.
Totally understand! Lots of cheaper dupes.
Very classy looking.
It’s a nice way to get a more shimmery look without it being too noticeable!
I was expecting a little more nuance from the shade!
The shimmer is soo fine!
I see what you mean about the shimmer. I would have prefered a shimmerier black or a black with no shimmer. It looks good, but not good dnough for me to buy it as it is so expensive.
It’s so in-between those two that it really does leave one longing for one or the other, I think!
