Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is segmented into color families, and this post features the “pop pinks to roses.” Right now, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus are both accepting pre-orders for the Lips & Boys collection; they officially release on December 26th (and will also be at other retailers and Tom Ford’s website at that time).

You can check out sneak peek swatches here and here for the other shades. 🙂 The Lips & Boys shades seem a lot smaller than the full-sized Lip Colors in their tubes, but in terms of actual product, it’s 0.07 oz. vs. 0.10 oz. These are actually cheaper by the ounce at $457.14/oz. compared to $500/oz. for full-size. I liked that the packaging felt the same as full-sized, just smaller, but it didn’t feel cheapened. The bullet of lipstick itself was also wide enough at the base that it didn’t feel really skinny or difficult to use, and it wasn’t prone at breaking at the base as some miniature-sized lipsticks are.

Alexander Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium, blue-based cotton candy pink with a soft shimmer. It had mostly opaque color payoff, but it didn’t go on quite as evenly as I would have liked. The consistency just doesn’t feel luxuriously smooth, so I was a bit disappointed. The color wore well for four hours and was lightly hydrating over time. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Patrick Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium coral with a hint of pink and a luminous shine. It had rich color payoff and hid my lip freckle entirely with a smooth, moderately creamy texture that made the lipstick apply evenly. This shade stayed on well for four hours when I tested it, and it was nicely moisturizing while I wore it. I really liked this shade, but it seems rather dupable, so you may have something like it in your stash. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Michael Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a brightened, medium pink with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had full color coverage that went on evenly and was comfortable to wear. It was lightly hydrating, but it lasted for five hours, so a bit longer than the first two in the post. I also found this one harder to dupe, because it’s a very pink-driven shade that’s still warm-leaning, and the frost finish made it more unusual. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

John Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a heavier frosted finish. it had rich, fully opaque pigmentation that covered lips well and applied with even color. It wore well for almost six hours and was a little hydrating (but the least hydrating of this set). See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Giacomo Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, pink-coral with warm undertones and a very fine golden shimmer. It had full color coverage, and the consistency was lightly creamy and glided on without tugging, while delivering even color. It wore well for almost six hours and was moderately moisturizing over time. The finish on this one reminded me of a less glossy version of Guerlain’s Rouge G formula due to the inclusion of pearl. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Trying going in-person to a Bergdorf Goodman/Saks/Nordstrom/*insert nice department store/place with Tom Ford counter here* and asking if they can pre-order it for you. I was lucky and got mine when it first went up at Saks and I know a lot of places aren’t taking online pre-orders for it (unexpectedly popular, I suppose), but I think going in-person like Estefania did and talking to a SA is your best bet.

Patrick, John, Michael, and Giacomo are my guys 🙂 I’ve worn a different every day sense getting them and absolutely adore them. I also think the clutch size is perfect. Since I routinely purge my stash of colors past their prime or colors that no longer interest me, I never use up an entire tube of lipstick. I’d rather pay $32 for 2 grams and use it all than pay $50 for 3 grams and end up tossing about a third of it away.

I’m with you on the sizing as well. I’d love it if Tom Ford regularly sold this size, especially in bolder and more unique colors. Even if the lineup shifts constantly! I do adore my full-sized tubes and they’re lovely to display, but in practice the Lip and Boys size is really great. It would be amazing if Guerlain did something similar with Rouge G in about a 2/3 size or so. The full-sizes are on the verge of difficult to store (sometimes they stick in my acrylic displays) and these are just perfect and ideal for carrying around too.

These aren’t my colors, but so glad to see such high scores. Nothing worse than an over-hyped, expensive product that performs poorly. And kudos to TF for pricing them less per oz than the full-size. The lower price point allows more people to try his lipsticks, and hopefully become fans. Smart move.

Thats what comes to my mind when I hear the name Giacomo…and that ofcourse makes me very happy….because I love Danny Kaye:) Anywhoo..yeah I love my pinks and corals so I’m really lusting after Giacomo right now but I’ll be a good girl and hold off until my great makeup purge thats comin lol. Have LOVED Tom Ford lipsticks from the get go & am lucky enough(thanks hubby!)to own several from his permanent range, including the recent matte collection (SUPER LOVE!). Now like the rest of the universe I immediately ordered from the lips & boys collection…prob being that by choosing essentially blind we not sure what we getting until I’m our hands. Well ‘Peter’ & ‘Olivier’ arrived promptly from Selfridges, nicely wrapped (although with no samples, how comes online purchases never come with samples!) & I have to say I was underwhelmed!! The tube is just not weighty enough in comparison to the full size tube to warrant the price tag…yes it’s cheaper than full size Ford but it’s still not cheap. I’d rather pay the extra bit & get the premier product. As for the colours I chose (how to choose unseen with so much choice was tough!) they look beautiful but I’m going to return them & wait to meet ‘the boys’ in person when they arrive post Xmas to properly test out the colours & different finishes (glad your review highlights that Christine because I wasn’t aware). Have to say also, am unimpressed with the large amount of duplicates from his permanent range under new male names! Having said this, will probably end up buying about 10!!

Well, these are all rather nice aren’t they? (Well, except maybe Alexander, but that’s a personal bias against the white base, LOL!). I really love the sheen/glimmer they have to them, especially at the strength it is in Giacomo and Michael. It’s that sort of thing that elevates a lipstick properly into the luxury territory, IMO. Jaa’s ‘adult shimmer’, LOL!

Alex Avatar

Uh, I’m really diggin’ Patrick 😉 hehe! (pun intended). I want to buy Alexander too, just because it’s the masculine version of my name, hah! I’m really impressed with this collection overall, can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Tabassum Avatar

yaaay I’ve ordered Giacomo:-) I’m yet to receive it, but anything that gets an A+ from you will surely be a holy grail product for me<3 BTW I was also thinking of ordering givenchy le rouge magnolia organza, how does Giacomo compare to that? Imean are they similar shades in any way?

Tabassum Avatar

thanks Christine, I think I’m gonna skip magnolia organza this time..but it’s sooo lovely, maybe in the future when my wallet’s a bit less malnourished

I wished I followed the Boys lipsticks. I saw Michael and I have to have it since it’s my Dad’s name.(RIP Dad) I signed up for an e-mail alert on Tom Ford’s website when they have it in stock. Bergdorf and Niemen’s didn’t have it listed on their website

Christine Avatar

They should be back on the 26th – but you might start checking the 24th/25th. Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf should all carry the shades as well, though I think NM and BG are probably out of some shades (since they took pre-orders). They will be in stores that carry TF’s full beauty range as well (including boutiques). I hope you can get it 🙂

Nicole Avatar

Oh..so pretty. I gotta get on these and check out the others. If you had to to chose 3 to start, which would you chose? My coloring is pretty close to yours judging by your photos..maybe slightly lighter. Thank you for the Tom Ford blush suggestions. I received lovelust and wicked last week …love them! I gotta try these boys! …So many to choose from, lol.

Stacey Avatar

Want them all.
Received Liam, Justin and Luciano today. NM did not send me the case. So uncool. Will not receive it until after Jan. 2015 even though I bought three on Cyber Monday. The promotional item doesn’t have a place where you can add to the shopping cart.

Stacey Avatar

I get an email that it should arrive late December. Then customer service makes this “fluffy” apology without really being sorry. I do not like to buy online for this reason. Amazon is good. So is MAC. I prefer to buy in person so I can inspect my goods. I told NM….makes me think twice about buying from it again.

Then my friend bought me Burberry Holiday eyeshadow kit and the highlighting powder. So I gave her Luciano (mini TF) and an Gucci eyeshadow plus some other handcream. Now, I am going to get Giacomo in December. I must have three to fit into my TF box.
I really dont need more makeup.

Gillian Avatar

Not that I need any more lipsticks at all but these look amazing! I don’t even know if these are going to be available in the UK. If they are though there’s no guarantee that I’d buy one of them anyway as the price is insane (says she who’ll fork out a tonne of money for a Guerlain Rouge G)!

I will sit and admire from afar. 😀

Alison Avatar

Well, I was taken by Giacomo thanks to your swatch and went down to BG to see if it would work for me. Long story short I got it and that’s not all. Thanks, Christine!
