What would you love to see in a spring color collection?

I’d love to see a April-showers-bring-May-flowers kind of collection–where there’s an almost overcast, muted quality with deeper shades (so it’s not all pastel) paired with brighter, bolder floral hues (perhaps muted shades on the eyes, bolder hues for lips, or bolder blush).

That (Christine’s idea) could be really pretty with some of the quirky lip colors that are hot right now. I love the idea of a slate blue lip for spring, or something really grey like Melt Spacecake.

Bright tulip colors against dewy skin would be fun. I love any excuse for a good highlighter and pigmented bright e/s. Conversely, natural-matte skin with plastic shine bright eye shadow like with an eye gloss would be beautiful.

I’d love to see some really misty palettes- greys, mauves, blues- with a mix of textures and one pop of colour per palette, to give a bolder option. And I’d like to see some deeper/ bolder lip colours, but in a semi-sheer to semi-opaque formula. Spring is still pretty chilly up here, so I kind of like the idea of a collection that looks like an early thaw; the edge coming off winter.

Christine, I think Meow Cosmetics has a seasonal collection with April-showers-bring-May-flowers theme, called Bloom & Gloom. I don’t think they do lip products, though.

Other than that, I’m still the worst person ever to ask about seasonal colors. XD So er, perhaps a great waterproof eyeshadow or eyeliner?

After all the bold holiday looks (red lips, smokey eyes, golds, metallics), I’m actually glad to see some pretty pastel shades. It’s like a breath of fresh air after all the holiday craziness. For spring makeup, I would like to see some blush-colored lips and cheeks, and some pretty, pigmented pastel shadows that aren’t chalky, wimpy, or dry.

Yours sounds nice!

I’m sure Marsala is going to figure big into Spring, and I like the color, so I’d have it for eyes, lips and cheeks. I’d like to see steel blue, coral, carnation pink, muted greens, golden-peachy shades, lilac, fuchsia. I’d like to see some muted shades, some metallics and some pretty duochromes anchored with nice mattes.

I’m not a huge fan of pastels in large doses.

I like pastels for Spring-it saves me from having to buy LE products, and frees up more money for permanent items! I tend to ise Spring & Summer to catch up on my “wishlist”.

Completely agree! I’d love to see pastels reworked so they were more greyed out and dirty. When I think of spring I think of erratic weather with bursts of sun but lots of rain and WIND – sort of washing away the winter months and clearing things out for summer. Some kind of Dr Zhivago, Julie Christie thing is going on in my brain now LOL (it’s the first makeup image I thought of).

Christine, your answer totally brought to mind Meow’s Gloom & Bloom collection, only available in april/may and one of my absolute favourites that they put out!!!

I love yellows, brighter than pastel pinks and creamsicle oranges, with greys for spring 🙂 I don’t do pastels!!

This may seem strange but.. I envision a lovely setting outside back when iced tea would be sacred and friends and family joined together around small delicate iron tables underneath sweeping trees with bouquets at each table near a stream and far from the house.. A color play of bright & deep greens, but muted, with the colors of wine, iced tea, and the pale creaminess of other flowers and porcelain with a blushing face and lips, muted bright earth tones with touches of gold and a river blue, shining whites and beiges, swirling pastry minimalism.. The feel of a fresh lemonade, the joy of company celebrating the weather and enjoying life’s present moment.. Almost the colors of fall as leaves change but more fresh and crisp with a bite of Apple too 🙂 fruits, Sky, wine, roses, camelia, willows hanging, lush foliage and deep earth to ground the gala.. Little rose buds in a terrecotta color, muted Crimson, could adorn packaging with single muted green leaves scattered about in both a yellow green and bluer green with whisps of gray.. 😀 Can you picture it? I tried! 😀

I’d love to see something hearthy and hued, deeper greens and greyed purple tones, light pinks and peaches, natural colors that take inspiration from the changing mood and colors of spring and the renewal of life, flowers, grass and trees.. like a heavenly, hidden, magical forest more so than a bright pastel-y take on the garden theme.

You know… I just saw a picture of the Laura Mercier Watercolour palette for Spring 2015, and it seems they might be thinking along those lines!! 😀 Plus the packaging has fake water drops a la Alluring Aquatic, which always makes my heart go pitter pat, LOL!

I have two wishes for spring collections: properly executed, luminous pastels (not just ‘eh, dump some more white base in, it’ll be fiiiine’) for eyes and lips…
..and more muted shades, like you’re thinking of! 😀 I have such an obsession with moted tones at the moment, I want to see it continue into spring!

I would love to see some gorgeous shades of green – mint, emerald and teal. I would love it to be paired with some tones of grey. I would add some chartreuse, a purple and a pale blue.
For lip – I would go with the colour of the year – marsala – some lovely russet colours. Same for blushes.

We already have deeper hues and brighter colors — we already have pastels and every color under the sun. They will find new packaging, new names and new collections of the same colors since there are only so many colors in the world. Women wear any color they choose whether it is winter or summer. I wear what pleases me and it seems so do other women. : )

I love your idea! Around here, Spring is basically early-Summer, so I’d want something that could help me deny the heat a little longer. Lots of cool tones, blues and greys, so I can pretend it’s not already 90 degrees out!

Fantastic idea! I avoid spring lines because the pastels annoy me, but grayed, or desaturated, colors with a pop seems perfect. For the eyes I envision a few (maybe 3 or 4) basic, matte coolish-neutrals, mixed with desaturated satiny greens and very grayed shimmery blues. The cheeks and lips should be coordinating versions of the same basic color, based on a spring flower palette (Crocus, Tulip, Rhododendron), with either the lips or the cheeks being desaturated and the other being bright, but they’d be built from the same hue (like the middle row in this color chart: http://webstyleguide.com/wsg3/figures/11-graphics/11-19b-600.jpg).

So I didn’t have an idea of my own, but I think yours is amazing, and someone should start putting it together right now!
