The Summer Season: Illamasqua Brink Lipstick

Illamasqua Brink Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a brightened, peachy-coral with nearly matte finish–it does have a very subtle glossy sheen (but no shimmer). Because it has a more matte finish, it’s not an overly creamy lipstick–it doesn’t have a lot of slip–but it has enough creaminess to apply evenly, opaquely, and not dry out lips. This is a totally opaque lipstick, which is particularly good for those of you with more pigmented lips and never can find a coral that doesn’t look red on you.

Is this the right coral lipstick for you? Would you wear it?

The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

In my opinion that has to be the most pretty coral lipstick, im a NC15 with dark hair and dark eyes, both ravishing and freckletone can look ‘dark’ on me.
sadly i cant get Illamasqua that easily ever since i moved to germany.

actually this one does not suit you much, you have a much cooler skin tone…actually i cant imagine a person whom this would look great on naturally, without other makeup on their face.

this is an excellent example of why the full face photos are necessary! in the up close shot the lipstick looks amazing but i definitely dont love it in the full-face shot. thanks christine!!!

i agree the lipswatch looks beautiful but with the full face shot it just doesn’t look right with your skin tone. (no offense!)
it would probably be awesome with darker tan.

On my pigmented (red) lips, corals turn orange on me such as Viva Glam Cyndi – which I have the feeling so will this lipstick….so skip (not like we have Illasmaqua here in Canada anyway)!

Have you tried Obey or Over? I have cool, NC25 skin and i want a more peach based coral lipstick. I don’t want any more pink ones, and none of the Sephoras around me sell Illamasqua, so I can’t swatch them myself. Do you think Brink would still be wearable even though it’s for warmer skin tones? Thanks for your help!

That shade is gorgeous on you! I never thought I would like coral shades on me, but you’ve motivated me to try some and I’ve been liking them a lot 🙂

I just want to say thanks so much for adding the picture of your face with the lipstick swatches. It’s the little things like this (which probably take you loads of time) that make Temptalia an awesome site. 😀 Plus, you and I have almost the exact same coloring, so it’s great to see how a lipstick would look with someone of my same hair and skin tone.

Keep up the good work!

I quite like this one. I got the Rouge Coco in Teheran hoping for a good coral colour but it was a little too pink on me for some reason. maybe I’ll try this one out! Thanks!

Hopefully all your lipstick swatches in the future will show your face because it gives us a better view of the color in general. By the way, this lipstick shade really looks good on you. I have ysl peach passion it looks like that for a few minutes on me upon application but after an hour or so it becomes light pink on me. I guess this illamasqua lipstick wouldn’t turn like that.

This looks like a more opaque version of Ever Hip. I like the sheerness of Ever Hip, even though its a cremesheen, and I don’t think that this saturated colour would suit my fair skin.

this is beautiful, but I can also see it being one of those colors that really bring out any dry patches on the lips, even after exfoliating. Perhaps it would be perfect with a gloss over the top. I think I’m going to add this to my list of items I want to get for the spring/summer.

Corals go so well with my skintone but I just hate the color! Such a shame that I love colors that tend to clash with my undertones. Still rock it though!
