The Colors of Diamond: 15 Eyeshadow Color Combos for April

April’s birthstone is diamond, which comes in an assortment of colors, though white diamonds–or colorless (or as close as you can afford to get!)–remind me of the most sparkly and more shifting eyeshadows. There re also fancy diamonds, which are colored diamonds, and those come in an assortment of colors, though shades of yellow, pink, and blue are more common. I’ve seen a definite uptick in gray diamonds, too. I took inspiration from the sparkle of diamonds, generally, paired with more translucent or color-shifting shades along with hues of yellow, pink, blue, and/or gray.

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease or lid.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

I love this take on Diamonds! I think about the center eyeshadow in the Urban Decay Elements Palette called Luna that is essentially a translucent base full of mulidimensional sparkle. I love using it to add something extra special to a look.

I’m an April baby. 🙂 These are all beautiful and artistically chosen. I was just looking at the new April Diamond palette from BH Cosmetics, and it’s an interesting color story, that I would never have thought of. They are doing one for every month’s birthstone. Do you ever review BH Cosmetics? I was waiting to see if you’d do the Sweet Shoppe Ice Cream palettes too! My daughter loves them.
