Thanks for the Glitz: My Eight Sparkling, Glittering Must-Haves
A Week of Gratitude
Sparkling Favorites
Secret’s out: I love sparkle, glitter, shine, and all things glitzy. If it twinkles, I’m already 25% interested. One of my favorite products that have released this year have been the Marc Jacobs Beauty See-quins, which are pots full of sparkling, fully pigmented eyeshadows that wear and apply wayyy better than one would expect given all that sparkle and glitter! I’ve also fully rediscovered my love and appreciation for Bite’s Creme Lip Glosses, which I often throw on for photos (even if I remove shortly after and put on something I’m testing), as they layer and add so much dimension to any lip combo.
Three of these are in my vanity drawers, too: Natasha Denona Light-Medium (02) (along with the other two shades), Marc Jacobs Beauty Topaz Flash (along with the other See-quins shades), and Dose of Colors Bathe. I usually have a few of the Bite glosses (I just tidied up, so it’s just Oyster Pearl and Gold right now) hanging out on top of my vanity but know exactly where the rest of them are in my stash.

Bite Beauty Crème Lip Gloss
The Creme Lip Gloss is supposed to give a “modern, foiled lip look” with “pearlized color pay off” while softening the lips. The formula had a light-medium weight to it, which I think helped ensure that the shimmer didn’t feel gritty on the lips. Read more...

I am totally with you on the sparkle train, Christine. I always throw some sparkle on to jazz up a look. It is one of the areas that I can’t resist the temptation to break the rule, “sparkle eyes, matte lip or matte eyes, sparkle lips”. I will put sparkle in as many places as I can so frequently look like sparkle was poured over my head. I am not a “glitter” person but I do have some that I use! I will rock a really shimmery eye, cheek and lip more often than not. These choices are all lovely and not surprisingly, I have quite a few of them. I had purchased one of the Marc Jacobs SeeQuins, in the amethyst shade and initially was a little disappointed and then tried it over a dark base, as suggested by Karimma McKimmie on YT and fell in love with it. She recently posted three looks using several of the MJ SeeQuinns. Well, I promptly ordered all of the available colours and hope there are more in the works. Maybe some greens, MJ, pretty please!!
On a slightly different note, how many are hoping that the recent release of Melt Smoking Sessions and the quick sell out will prompt other brands to break out the greens and maybe even some cool toned ones? I am just waiting. I am hoping the palette will spark a change similar to the one Mod Ren did a few years back and we will get a bunch of palettes with some really interesting shades of green and complimentary shades. A girl can dream!
Wow! Karima really sold you on those!
The bigger brands should already be headed that way after Huda’s Emerald palette — it was one of the top sellers of those gem releases; and there have been several other green palettes released recently, so if the bigger brands are paying attention *at all*, they’re likely already working on their own versions.
being disappointed in the big killawatt after the review, prob will spring for the sandcastle/minted mojito at the coming S sale. When it went at least semi-perm, backburnered it. Just wish the mint was more green…. I thought all the S stuff was over for the year, but……. squeeze out our last dimes.
It’s such a fun duo – really unique and pretty on cheeks but works as eyeshadows, too.
Already got the pink/blue, and that initial set of duos was spectacular…maybe set the bar too high!
I love sparkly things too – the Bite Beauty Bronze pearl lippie and the MJ Topaz Flash is gorgeous.
Love all the Bite glosses so much!
Great picks above! I have some of these: PMGL Rebel Red Blitztrance lipstick (and I ❤️ Flesh Fatale even more) , MJ See-Quins in Topaz Flash and 2 Bite Creme Lip Gloss in Gold and also Peacock. Pushing 60, and still love me some glitter! The way it reflects light diminishes the appearance of fine lines, and gives me a reason to smile back at the mirror. Next thing I may nab is that MJ monster pan of highlighter. Seeing YT’ers using it, then seeing that it has a serious duochrome going on, has me sold on it!
Flesh Fatale is pretty but felt like it wasn’t quite glitzy enough for the post 😉
I so love Bite’s Oyster Pearl that I got a backup for the gloss and the multi stick. I use the multi stick as eye shadow and then put a thin line of the gloss along my lash line where a more normal person would use eye liner. It adds such a nice sparkle!
That sounds gorgeous!!
“where a more normal person would use eyeliner.” I love that!
Ooooh, I thought I didn’t need the MJ Topaz Flash e/s but now I’m starting to wonder….so beautiful!
…and now I see that it’s sold out online (not that I would purchase it online, especially since I have a very close dupe in Bronzed Taupe) and not available within 150 kms of where I am (so I will sooth my disappointment with Bronzed Taupe!).
It has really cool, rainbow-esque sparkles to it – that you really can see in person!
Oyster Pearl is so lovely! Such an understated colour but with that slight shiftyness that makes it interesting. I’m also waiting on an order with the Peacock Pearl gloss. Can’t wait to wear it! I’ve already planned looks around it lol.
Love pretty much all the glosses Bite has – they are so great for layering!
I love shimmer and glitter especially on my eyes. And always during the holidays 🙂 I recently got the MJB See-Quins in the Amethyst shade. I haven’t used it on my eyes yet, but when I swatched it in Sephora, it was love at first swatch! I love this type of formula. I have something similar that I got from the brand Peripera. The Tarte chrome paint shadow pots are pretty but most of the shades all look the same on my skin tone. MJB is the only brand that has come out with a purple shade. I can’t wait to start using it.
Bummer to hear that the Tarte Chrome Paints look the same! I’ve been wanting to try those.
The shades Park Ave Princess, Beach Bae, and Sun Drenched are the shades that look the same on my skin tone. If I were to buy any of the shades they would be Martini and Top Yacht. I love those shades!
I love this series of gratitude posts, and I love glitter! I was *this* close to ordering DoC Bathe on Cyber Monday 40% off, but it was the $5 shipping that made me pause. I don’t have any exact dupes, but it looks pretty similar to the Laura Mercier Inspiration that I bought in Sept, which is lovely but I’ve barely warn it, so it really wouldn’t make any sense to add another similar product. Christine, you have made me smarter about my purchases, and I can’t thank you enough. Sparkle on!
If you aren’t wearing Inspiration, it’s a good call! Bathe is definitely more intense and therefore can appear a little more silvery/reflective at times, but still, it’s not SUPER unique in color (texture/finish make it more of a fave vs. similar shades). MAC Superb + Estee Lauder Modern Mercury are all in the same vein for me.
I love shimmer, sparkle, and glitter. I’m glad you did a post on your favorites. I was happy to see you like TF20 as much as I do. 🙂
Dare I even peak.. I launched comments without looking at the post. Suddenly, I feel very vulnerable. LOL ?
Haha!
Sand Castle / Mint’d Mojito is to die for, such crazy gorgeous shimmer! I wanted it for a long time before I finally picked it up in LA on my last weekend after working there all summer (such a beautiful experience I won’t ever forget). I’ve been using it through fall but I think I’ll always associate it with that fun summer. Love using it on the cheeks and on the eyes, both mixed and separately.
I’m surprised to see that I have two of these (Fenty, Bite’s Peacock), and was (am?) intrigued by two more (Rebel Red and more than one of the Too Faced Throw Back lipsticks, including TF 20). Maybe my apathy towards all things shiny isn’t as firm as I thought.
Well… you do blot down Peacock Pearl, right? So maybe only a very, very subtle softening… 😉
True! Thanks for that … I was a little worried about myself for a moment there. 😉
Can I ask how you use the Dose of colors Bathe highlighter? Is it a blush topper for you? A blush? An actual highlighter? I ask because on your cheeks it looks beautiful but deeper in tone so you can see the cast. I hear its a stunning highlighter and very reflective. I want to try it, but I dont know how I would use it if its too deep for me?
I use it as a blush or as a highlighter.
