Blue-Teal Eyeliners: Your Guide

I am a fiend for teal eyeliner–there is absolutely no doubt about that–and here are fifteen shades that seemed like blue-based teals (a few turned out to be a little green-based).

  1. Make Up For Ever #12L is a darkened blue with a hint of teal. It is more shimmery than Tom Ford Exotic Teal.
  2. Milani Aqua is a brightened teal with a hint of blue and frosted finish.
  3. Urban Decay Flipside is a lightened blue-teal with a shimmery finish. It is lighter than Milani Aqua.
  4. Tarina Tarantino Spark of Envy is a darkened teal with a blue-based and a green-tinged shimmer/sheen.
  5. Stila Peacock is a deep blue with a hint of teal and light sheen.
  6. Tom Ford Exotic Teal is a deep, dark blue-based teal.
  7. Estee Lauder Dramatic Teal is a dark, blue-based teal with a matte finish. It is a touch bluer than Tom Ford Exotic Teal. (LE)
  8. Estee Lauder Electric Teal is a teal with blue undertones and a matte finish. It is greener compared to Estee Lauder Dramatic Teal and lighter than Tom Ford Exotic Teal. (LE)
  9. bareMinerals 1PM is a deep, dark blue-based teal. It is darker than Tom Ford Exotic Teal. (LE)
  10. Urban Decay Mainline is a blue-based teal with stronger blue undertones and a matte finish. It is bluer than Estee Lauder Dramatic Teal. (LE)
  11. Prescriptives Blue Grotto is a teal with bluish-green tones. It is darker than Estee Lauder Electric Teal and Tom Ford Exotic Teal. (DC)
  12. Make Up For Ever #4K is a green-tinged teal. It is slightly greener than Prescriptives Blue Grotto.
  13. NYX Emerald City is dark, emerald green.
  14. NARS Kaliste is a deep, blue-based teal. It is brighter than Tom Ford Exotic Teal.
  15. MAC Tealo is a blackened green-tinged teal (looked bluer in the pencil!). (DC)

TEMPTALIA PICKS:  #2 (quality, price), #4 (quality, pigmentation), #7 (quality, pigmentation), #9 (quality, pigmentation), #10 (quality, pigmentation), #12 (quality, pigmentation)

Behind-the-Series:  It was my intention to provide heavy, opaque swatches to provide an accurate color comparison.  Some eyeliners required one pass, some required five, and a few even more.  When possible, the shade name (above) is linked to the original review so you can read more about the quality, wear, etc. of a particular eyeliner.  If we’ve never done a review, there will be no link.  Shades that were limited edition will be marked with “(LE)” and shades that were discontinued will be marked with “(DC)” after the color description.  You can also find all comparisons on The Dupe List.

What’s your favorite Blue-Teal Eyeliner? How do you like to use it?

I have Kaliste and as much as I love the color, it ALWAYS ends up in my crease and goes everywhere. I use a eyeliner sealer on it (a Sephora brand one) and although it darkens the color a bit, it does help it stay put.

Love the Tarina Tarantino colors! Do you know if they are available to purchase anywhere online yet, since Sephora has stopped carrying the brand?

I am a fiend for teal eyeliners. My current favourite is Mainline, but I also love Undercurrent.

Anyone have any good teal eyeshadow recommendations? Cool Heat is the only one I’ve got…

Christine, you accidentally re-posted the pic “eyeliner_blueteals005.jpg” twice. 🙂

I am an eyeliner FIEND and your swatch & comparison guides are my favourite reference so I’m super excited you are updating them. Will they also be included in the swatch gallery?
Keep up the amazing work! 😉
ps. Your lighting is superb and always gives true colour when I compare the pix with the products I have.

Prescriptives is such a great brand, one of my favorites!

That being said, my favorite out of these (and so glad I own it) is Tarina Tarantino’s Spark of Envy for sure!

Thank you so much for this! I’ve been trying to find dupes of the Estee Lauder ones and the Tom Ford one since I saw your original reviews! It seems the cheaper ones I find have shimmer in them, boo.

I tried to get Spark of Envy back in November when Sephora was clearing out all the TT products and, of course, it was the ONLY one they were sold out of. I even offered to buy the sample but they said that wasn’t allowed. I was so disappointed.

*sigh* How I miss my Estee Lauder Electric Teal. At least it gets plenty of love from my mother. (She literally wears it every day.)

I really need to get Spark of Envy back into regular rotation again. Such a gorgeous color.

I only have MUFE 12L because out of all these, MUFE is the only brand available in my country. I so wish I could get my hands on TT Spark of Envy and Stila Peacock 🙁

Christine I like to apply eyeliner on lower line and waterline. I have no staying problem on waterline but eyeliners do slightly migrate to the area below lower eyeline (I think its called racoon eyes ) but only slightly. I have been eyeing Estee Lauder Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayons for sometime and the only thing stooping me is that if I get these expensive eyeliners n they give me terrible racoon eye : ( I know things vary from person to person but which do you think is better from the point of non-raccooning /smudging – Estee Lauder Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon or Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Liners.
