Tatcha Magnolia Bloom Silk Lipstick Review & Swatches
Magnolia Bloom
Tatcha Magnolia Bloom Silk Lipstick ($55.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium, reddened plum with warm undertones and a satin finish. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy that’s a bit denser–a little thicker–but not heavy to wear at all. The color applied smoothly across my lips with even coverage that didn’t emphasize my lip lines. It had opaque color payoff that stayed on well for five and a half hours and felt hydrating over time. I did notice that my lips seemed to look a bit softer and smoother after two to three hours of wear. The only aspect that it didn’t deliver on is that I wouldn’t call it buildable as marketed–it’s definitely very pigmented; to achieve sheerer coverage, you’d have to apply and blot or apply some to the center and use a lip brush or fingertips to diffuse it as a sheer layer. I didn’t notice any scent or taste to the formula.

I bought this a few weeks ago during the darkest, coldest days of winter. I love it! It is definitely hydrating and the color lasted all morning (before eating lunch). The shade seems a bit darker IRL, than on the website though. But still perfect for most skin tones. The only downfall is the price. I only bought it because “magnolia” kept calling my name. ?
What? 55 dollars for a lipstick? ? I’m going ti buy 3 of my beloved Mac lipsticks or ud vice with the dame budget!
It really is a lovely shade. But $55 worthy? Probably not. Especially, when I’m seeing how much nicer TF Helena and Night Mauve look, and CP Ghosted, too! Any of those 3 would reel me in first.
Another observation I’ve made is that the bullet tip on this tube, while very artistically sculpted, would give me pause. It doesn’t look very application friendly applied directly from the tube!
This is beautiful, but trying to talk myself out of it – I just have so much right now. But I wasn’t able to find it at Sephora anyway – maybe brand site exclusive?
Beautiful shade, but the price – definitely ouch worthy.
That is such a pretty color, but I am not a lipstick girl and it would be money down the drain. Does it have a scent? I don’t like the scent of Tatcha skin care.
Very pretty but also very expensive.
THANK YOU for reviewing this! I’ve read so many conflicting descriptions of this shade, I was glad to get your take and photos. I wish Tatcha made samples available, as their stunning lipsticks are quite the investment.
somehow the swatch on the lips look dry? i checked the dupe swatches and the colourpop ghosted looks smoother. if i were to do a blind test, i would have thought the pic of ghosted was tatcha given the price.
It is expensive, but I have worn it almost every day for the last month. The color is very flattering and different from almost anything else, and the formula is much more hydrating than the Tom Ford, which tend to make me flake.
