Tarte Tarteist PRO Remix Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.70 oz.) is on sale today at Ulta for 50% off ($24.50), which makes it good timing to give long-time reader Mariella the post she’s been hoping for. I think that there are a lot of great color combos to be had using the PRO Remix palette as a “base” palette–particularly for your shimmery picks, but you’ll get more versatility out of it by incorporating some of your favorite matte shades. You might look at the last shade in most of the combos and replace with a similar color but with a matte finish version if you prefer more variety in finish in your eye looks.

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

I’m *so* grateful for this post! I now have both the Tarte Pro and Pro Remix palettes but only got Remix after seeing this because I made the mistake of getting the original Pro palette without really having an idea of how to use it (I have light blue eyes and blond hair and I think the shades in the original palette may be too dark) but this was an excellent guide.
