Tarte Fave Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint
Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is supposed to be “pigmented” with a “glossy” and “non-sticky” finish and have a hydrating formula to back it up. There are nine shades available, and it is a new, permanent formula. The consistency is light-medium in weight–more gel-like with a very smooth, lightly creamy texture. It’s more like a gloss than merely a liquid lipstick, so it has a glossier finish overall. Most of the shades were semi-opaque to fully opaque, and even the darker shades applied evenly for the most part (that was a surprise!). They’re comfortable to wear, lightly hydrating, and non-sticky over time. The wear varied between three to five hours for me. I didn’t notice any scent or taste when testing these.
Tarte Fave Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “plum berry.” It’s a slightly muted, medium-dark plum with a cream finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly. I didn’t experience feathering/bleeding when wearing this shade for the four and a half hours it lasted. Tom Ford Beauty Wet Violet (P, $45.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Maybelline Obsessed (P, $7.99) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Tarte Poison Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “black plum.” It’s a dark, purply-plum with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff that went on evenly overall, but it wasn’t quite as smooth in appearance (the darker color seemed to highlight lip lines close-up) compared to other shades. It wore for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating. Too Faced Melted Villain (P, $21.00) is cooler, less glossy (85% similar). Makeup Geek Backstage (P, $15.00) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (85% similar). Giorgio Armani #604 (P, $29.00) is lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Tarte WCW Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint ($20.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “berry.” It’s a medium-dark, reddish plum with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with even coverage. The texture was smooth, comfortable to wear, but some of the color sat in lip lines noticeably. This shade wore four hours and was moisturizing over time. Anastasia Berry (-, $16.00) is cooler (95% similar). MAC Perpetual Holiday (P, $24.00) is cooler (90% similar). NARS Plato's (LE, $26.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC At Your Best You Are (LE, $21.00) is cooler (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Fatale (P, $54.00) is brighter, warmer (95% similar). Dior Intrigue (995) (P, $35.00) is lighter (85% similar). Maybelline Obsessed (P, $7.99) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Saucy Little Thing (P, $21.00) is lighter (85% similar). MAC Peer Pressure (LE, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Modern Lure (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). MAC Sultana (LE, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). ColourPop Furry (LE, $10.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Chanel Distinction (21) (P, $34.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Revlon Embellished (DC, $7.49) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). MAC Purple Mocha (P, $21.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Oh, these look really nice! Hopefully we’ll be able to get them here in the UK. I have my eye on WCW. ?
I hope they come to the UK!
Ahh, I forgot that we can now get Tarte over here. Oops! ?
Fave looks so good! I’m sad that there aren’t any dupes for it other than a much more expensive one ):
Not that many pigmented glosses, unfortunately! 🙁
WCW still a fave here. Tarte you can send them all though *wink*
Haha!
Love them! They look fantastic on you! I think WCW is my favorite. Adding to my list.
Thank you, ACP!
Oh lords, I’ve been on a no-buy for lip gloss for 8 months now, but these might be the exceptions. Two purples that get an A/A- and have no close dupes? Poison is especially impressive, given how hard it is to formulate this color. And WCW is a dupe for Tom Ford Orchid but it’s $ 32 cheaper AND has almost 3x more product (.20 oz vs. .07 oz)?? Tarte really knows how to go for my wallet! My favorite is Fave, but I might cave and get the other 2 as well
Luckily, permanent, so you have time to figure it out!
Fave and Poison look all kinds of amazing. So pretty and fairly opaque as well. I wish I could get my hands on them! 🙁
I love when a dark gloss is opaque AND even!
Pretty, but I think these would constantly be on my teeth.
I didn’t have any issue with that myself, but it is certainly a possibility!
Are these exclusive to Ulta or is Sephora just slow to put these on their site? I’ve been tracking them ever since you did the sneek peek and I can’t find them anywhere!
Sephora has them on their website.
Uh, all 3 , please? Love these! They have such lush, rich pigmentation and a uber-glossy shine to boot! Poison and Fave are my #1 & #2 picks so far. Poison reminds me a whole lot of TF Melted Villain, kinda surprised that I didn’t see Villain listed as a possible dupe?
Probably because Melted Villain comes up as a lipstick, not a gloss, so it’s not on my radar when I start narrowing down dupes! (I typically look in the same type of formula – e.g. gloss to gloss, lipstick to lipstick.)
Pretty! It’s nice to see glossy finishes coming back.
I totally agree, Rachel!
Fave and WCW are nice! I love the plum berry colour.
I liked these color choices!
Wow, they look great on!
They do!
Wow, finally a dark liquid lip color that applied evenly! Did you experience any feathering or migrating around the lips?
Thank you for the awesome swatches as usual Christine 🙂
No, I didn’t have any feathering!
Tarte has been coming out with some really nice products lately! I checked these out in person and I want quite a few of them. I was so surprised by how pigmented they were and how good they felt. Poison is definitely on my list!
Not my shades but they definitely suit you.
I tried Poison at my work, and I wore it for about 3 hours there. I noticed as it settled, yes, it kind of enhanced my lines, but it changed color. It went from a nice dark plum, to a gorgeous darker purple grey color! (My favorite Nyx color “Up the Bass” is about that same color) When I went to wipe the remaining color off, even with a makeup removing wipe, it wouldn’t budge! I had grey/purple stained lip lines with a slight greyish/purplish tinge to my lips until I showered the next morning! That didn’t upset me, but I’m sure other people might not like that effect. Out of all the shades we tried, that one had the absolute most pigment!
Thank you for the tip about it changing on you!
