How important is frequency of use in your purchasing decision?

How important is frequency of use in your purchasing decision?

It matters to me more for skincare/haircare, since testing is a longer-term commitment (weeks!), so it has to make sense for my skin type, hair needs, and so on. For color cosmetics, it’s not a consideration in most instances since I live to review products, so there’s not much I actually use...

Are you more interested in a product if it's limited edition?

It’s a higher priority to review for me than something that is permanent, but it doesn’t necessarily make me more interested personally!

How do you get over the fear of missing out (FOMO)?

How do you get over the fear of missing out (FOMO)?

Honestly, it’s just rare for anything to be THAT unique. I think that the “vibe” of a particular product, collection, and so on can be recreated with products you own or other products that already exist. There’s also something new just around the corner!

Are back-ups worth it?

Are back-ups worth it?

Generally, not usually for me, so I have learned to resist backing up products, especially color cosmetics that take forever to get through (and probably, literally, forever for me). Does your makeup change for the holidays?

I don’t think so! Since it’s whatever I’m testing to review… it tends to revolve around whatever brands are releasing/what trends are most obvious.

Does social media influence your makeup style?

Does social media influence your makeup style?

If a particular product or technique gets a lot of buzz and feels like something that I’d like or would want to incorporate into my routine, I definitely am game to try and often do! If it’s not something that would normally appeal to me, then I wouldn’t just try it because it is popular,...

Has the role of influencers changed over time for you?

Has the role of influencers changed over time for you?

I find myself watching more content from influencers today than I did before, whether in the early days of YouTube to a few years ago. As I’ve increased the volume of products I review over time, I don’t take in a lot of review-based content, so I think the way content has shifted to be more of...

What influencer would you like to see create a beauty brand?

What influencer would you like to see create a beauty brand?

Mariah Leonard or Samantha Ravndahl would contribute something very curated, very dialed-in and on-brand that I could see being additive to the brands that dominate now.
