How important is finishing a lip color to you?

How important is finishing a lip color to you?

It’s rare that I care, but I don’t use makeup like a normal consumer, so it’s not really like I have the ability to do so. I’ll say that for something like a lip balm, I try to use it up. I don’t like to have a ton open and in various states of semi-used!

How important is finishing an eyeshadow palette to you?

How important is finishing an eyeshadow palette to you?

Not important at all! Though obviously not something I can manage while reviewing thousands of products each year, but the way I feel about non-beauty categories would likely translate into them if I was a normal consumer… and that’s more about use–it doesn’t have to be worn every day or...

Have you ever fallen out of love with a favorite product before?

Have you ever fallen out of love with a favorite product before?

Sort of! I feel like I still really love the product, but I may have found something better, whether it’s just a different depth that’s working for me at the moment, different finish, or maybe it wears a little longer but is very close in color.

Have you ever fallen in love with a product that wasn't working for you before?

Have you ever fallen in love with a product that wasn't working for you before?

There aren’t any products coming to mind that I’ve been ho-hum on that later became a go-to! I could definitely see happening, though, with a product that might have been poor for one use but might work great for another use (perhaps something it wasn’t originally intended for).

Yesterday! LOL, I feel like pretty much every day is play time since I’m never quite sure how something is going to turn out!

How has your enthusiasm for makeup changed in the last six months?

How has your enthusiasm for makeup changed in the last six months?

It’s the same — I’m still pretty excited about makeup and beauty, generally, though I have derived a lot of my enjoyment from as providing a service (reviews/swatches) vs. specifically getting really enthused about products themselves. I still really love to apply it!

What's your favorite season for new collections and releases?

What's your favorite season for new collections and releases?

Summer, probably. I feel like spring is more focused on skin, which isn’t a bad thing, but I’m always drawn in by eyeshadow-heavy releases, so summer seems to be the season where there are a lot of launches with some intensity/depth. Holiday can have some cool releases, too, but it really does...

Would you like to see more autumn collections?

Would you like to see more autumn collections?

YES! I know that fall collections were likely passed on or moved around due to the pandemic for 2020, but historically, fall is a very low-key season for releases. There is so much inspiration to pull from autumn, and I wish we’d see it!

What kind of holiday sets or kits do you enjoy the most?

What kind of holiday sets or kits do you enjoy the most?

I like sets that have bundled individual products, so a mini lipstick kit or travel-sized blushes because I think that it can be hard to finish products, so it’s nice to have variety AND spend less to get it.

What are some holiday palettes you'd love to see?

What are some holiday palettes you'd love to see?

I’d love to see something in the spirit of Pat McGrath’s Decadence palette–those rich metallics–but in a more cohesive story (so mattes and satins with those rich metallics), perhaps a combo of jewel-tones, like ruby red, emerald green, and sapphire, plus your typical golds but maybe one...
