Have you ever fallen out of love with a favorite product before?

Sort of! I feel like I still really love the product, but I may have found something better, whether it’s just a different depth that’s working for me at the moment, different finish, or maybe it wears a little longer but is very close in color.

Oh sure. My first 2 MAC eyeshadows were Quarry and Orb (this was back in the day before I discovered my love of shimmer and sheen). I thought they were the best eyeshadows for my “style” (matte, understated…). I rarely use either one now, though I should try to finish them or at least make a dent in them and then BtoM them. And because of the naff new packaging that combines the WORST of UD’s past packaging for UDPP, I’m not loving that product so much any more. Even the dreadful Genie bottle was better than what they have now!

Does your MAC stores allow eyeshadows for Back To MAC? I assume just the potted ones, not the refills. Mine takes only big compacts like powders, foundation, concealer, brow and lip products.

I personally still love those shadows. ?

Yes, they accept (so far as I know) the regular eyeshadow compacts (I’ve never finished one so I’ve never tried to B2M them) but I’m sure they don’t take the empty pro pans. In my lifetime, I have only returned one blush (I’d hit pan and it had gone sort of “hard pan” and I never used it in any case) – it’s almost always empty lipstick bullets or the occasional lipstick that has gone rancid that I return, along with empty Paint Pot jars (and a dreadful concealer that came in the same type of jar and was probably one of the worst concealers EVER, from any brand)

I’ve definitely fallen out of love with products. Most of the time it’s just my skin changes (thank you aging) or preferences evolve. Some are products I just don’t feel I need any more, but more often than not I just find something that starts working for me better.

Yeah, when I figured out I prefer medium-full coverage. I started our adoring MUFE’s HD foundation but the last time I went back to it I found it so thin and it took so much product to get there I no longer care for it. I’d still recommend it to others in a heart beat, its just no longer for me.

I can’t believe I am actually saying this, but it’s Benefit Gimme Brow… and in general anything brow related from the brand. They were the first brow products I tried and for years Gimme Brow was my WG.
But I have retried them lately and I just… don’t like them as much. The Hourglass brow products are my loves right now, I just felt out off love with Benefit and even Anastasia.

Slowly and insidiously, I have. ColourPop Supershock Shadows, for one major falling out of love moment. I just feel really stupid that I accumulated sooo many, and then just began to get sick and tired of opening each pot, closing each pot when there are palettes galore in my upper dresser drawer. Perhaps not always as complex of shades, but a whole lot less fussy and time consuming.
I’ve fallen out of love with all my previous e/s primers ever since switching over to MAC’s 24 HR primer: Elf, UDPP, Nyx Waterproof, etc. Even the one by MAC isn’t 100% tearproof. But better than those others in comparison. Then again, when my allergies get ratcheted up, my tears destroy eye makeup like battery acid!
These are but a few outstanding examples.

Mac eye shadows in general. When I first started really following eyeshadowsluts on livejournal, I bought some Mac eye shadows and was ALL about them. Once I discovered basically all other non-drugstore brands recommended to me, that love affair was over though. I still have some Mac shadows, but mostly to just see if I ever use them up.

Yes I have – the Sephora It palette in neutrals, which I loved a few years ago. I just don’t use all those taupey shades so much now that I prefer more golds and bronze shades.
Some of my Maybelline lipsticks I don’t use as much (except for Spice For Me) and prefer Colour Pop’s lux lipsticks better.

My journey is at its earlier stages, so I’m sure there’s more to come. But my favourite blush was Sleek Rose Gold – I still can’t fault it, and it’s a lovely natural (fairly) colour on me, but I’ve discovered that I enjoy the effects of other blush colours, even though they don’t really look like a natural blush.
The Naked palettes. I still have and use a lot of them, and I really love the colour story in particularly Naked 2. But I’ve discovered better shadows (even though I still get a lot of use out of my Naked shadows).
