Enlighten

($22.00 for 0.5 oz.) is a pale, white gold with subtle, warm undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It was very brightening with more of a transparent base, so I could see it working well with a multitude of shades under it or even to the inner corners for an extra pop of shine (they are safe for the eyes).

The texture was very lightweight and fluid as it had good glide and slid easily across my skin but didn’t feel as watery most liquid formulas tend to be. The coverage was more semi-sheer when applied with “one to two dots” of product, which was the recommended amount per the brand, but it could easily be opaque if applied with more product (like a heavy dab of one dot).

The liquid highlighter applied well to bare skin or over foundation, and I didn’t find that one type of application method was better as both fingertip- and brush-application worked well. The product applied evenly, wasn’t prone to lifting up base products, and diffused well along the edges. It stayed on nicely for nine hours before fading a bit.

Gather Round Sisters

ColourPop Gather Round Sisters 15-Pan Shadow Palette ($26.00 for 0.60 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette in collaboration with the Hocus Pocus franchise. The palette contains a mix of mattes, sparkle-over-mattes, shimmers, and one pressed glitter, and generally, it performed consistently with more recent ColourPop palette releases (which isn’t really a compliment).

I’m not a fan of ColourPop’s increasing commitment to including a smattering of larger sparkle particles in an otherwise matte finish; this finish just results in extra fallout, little that translates to the lid, and doesn’t really seem to add anything to the formula–they’re the kind of matte shades that are already blendable (sometimes a bit of shimmer can make a shade more blendable). There are four shades that fall under that finish in this palette.

The Pressed Glitter has finer particle glitter and seems to have more of a base color than it being purely made out of glitter particles. Four shades were matte and had lightly to moderately powdery texture with two shades being under-performing. The shimmers were more consistent, though I felt three of the five shimmers were on the drier side and were best applied with a dampened brush for the smoothest application of product. I have found that more recent shimmer eyeshadows from the brand have been drier, which can result a more frosted, textured appearance rather than smooth and more metallic.

Brew Potion contains plastic (PET) glitter, and it is not intended for the immediate eye area. Night of Frolic and Dead Man’s Toe are also not intended for use in the immediate area as they include color additives that are not approved for use on the eye area by the FDA but would be considered safe for the eye area by EU.

Full Moon

Full Moon is a light, buttery yellow with warm undertones and flecks of micro-sparkle over a matte finish. The texture was moderately powdery with sparkles that did not bind with the rest of the product, so they either got trapped in my brush or contributed to fallout during application–very few managed to stay on my skin. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer that wore decently for seven and a half hours on me.

Hello, Salem is a darker peach with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent color coverage, but the consistency was quite powdery, which resulted in the product sheering out during application and having some fallout (even when I was careful to tap off excess). There were signs of fading present after seven and a half hours of wear.

Brew Potion

Brew Potion is a darker, golden bronze with warm undertones and a glittering finish. This shade was listed as “not intended” for the immediate eye area as it did contain plastic (PET) glitter particles. It had more of a base color, so it was quite pigmented in a single layer and had a more emollient consistency–this did help more of the particles actually adhere to skin and minimized the chance of fallout. I’m not comfortable wearing it on my eye area myself, so I tested it as a highlighter, and there were some stray particles after eight hours of wear.

On Toast

On Toast is a light, golden brown with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was moderately powdery with some fallout during application when blended out. It lasted for eight hours before fading a bit.

Coven is a medium-dark, reddish-brown with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of gold micro-sparkle over a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that could be built up to full coverage, though there was some fallout due to the more powdery texture as well as the sparkles that did not bind with the rest of the powder. The eyeshadow was blendable and wore for eight hours on me.

Come Little Children is a light, golden taupe with warmer undertones and flecks of silver sparkle over a matte finish. The sparkles just made an eyeshadow that wouldn’t have been prone to fallout… have fallout, both during the initial application and during blending. The only upside was all of the sparkles fell out during application so there wasn’t additional fallout during wear! The base color had opaque coverage with a soft, blendable, and moderately powdery texture. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading.

Thackery Binx

Thackery Binx is a medium, reddish-plum with subtle, warm undertones and a frosted finish. The consistency felt drier, more loosely-pressed, but it lacked the emollient slip I’ve come to expect from the brand’s shimmers. It did not improve with fingertip application–it had to be applied with a dampened brush, which helped to bind the powder together so that it would adhere evenly and smoothly to the lid.

Applied dry, it was patchy and had a fair amount of fallout. It had good pigmentation but instantly sheered out to more medium coverage due to the texture. It wore decently for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

I Call It a Bus

Wench

Wench is a light, golden pewter with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had opaque color coverage that adhered evenly to bare skin, but the texture was drier and more loosely-pressed–but powdery as a result–so it did not sit smoothly. I tried to apply it by pressing it on with a fingertip, but it just wasn’t enough to help the product bind together. I’d recommend using a dampened brush to get a smoother lay down of product. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Night of Frolic is a medium, reddish-burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had medium pigmentation that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with a second or third layer. The texture was moderately powdery, which resulted in the product sheering out a bit and some fallout–even when I was trying to avoid it the best I could. It was the most blendable shade, and I felt like I had to lay it down and barely blend the edges to avoid it lifting off or turning patchy. The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing." The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they're not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.

The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

Dead Man's Toe

Dead Man’s Toe is a deeper, purple-berry with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It was fairly powdery with a drier, thin consistency that yielded more semi-sheer to medium coverage that was hard to build up. The first time I tried to use this palette, I used this in the crease, and it was a disaster. The product did not apply evenly, and the more I tried to build up the color, the less color that adhered at all.

There was so much fallout, too, and excess product kicked up in the pan. What little color translated to my skin stayed on for seven hours from what I could tell. I tried it over primer, too, and it was not much improved–slightly less sheerness but still similar application issues with respect to building up color and blending it out.

Bewitched

Goodbye Cruel World

Goodbye Cruel World is a blackened brown with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was lightly creamy with some slip but still had opaque color payoff achieved in a single layer with a dry brush. It applied evenly and blended out without difficulty. This shade stayed on nicely for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

I Smell Children

ColourPop I Smell Children Lip Duo ($11.00 for 0.155 oz.) is a new, limited edition duo that includes a blue-based red lipstick and coordinating lip pencil.

The two shades were pigmented, longwearing, and left stains behind, though the lipstick was–not unsurprisingly!–the more comfortable of the two to wear on its own. The pencil worked well to achieve greater precision or to prevent feathering/bleeding with the lipstick on top.

Mary

Mary is a medium-dark red with cooler, blue undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage in a single stroke, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging or dragging. The texture was firmer, slightly dense in the tube, so it did require a bit of initial pressure before the color started going on readily.

It wore well for over six hours, left a strong stain behind, and was lightly hydrating over time. I didn’t experience any feathering/bleeding personally with this shade when worn alone but neither are issues I normally have.

Spinster Ladies

Spinster Ladies is a muted, medium red with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in one pass, which applied evenly to my lips and had enough glide for all-over color as well as the precision (and almost lack of slip) for lining.

Rare Beauty Enchant Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight ($22.00 for 0.5 oz.) is a pale pink with moderate, warm undertones and a cooler mix of silver and pink pearl throughout its more glowing, pearlescent finish. It was one of the “sheerer” shades in the range and yielded more semi-opaque, buildable coverage relative to other shades when used in more of a larger dab/swiping fashion.

It had more semi-sheer coverage when applied with “one to two dots” of product, as recommended by the brand, with a soft sheen. For more of a moderate glow, a second layer was definitely needed, and for more metallic/intense glow, I’d apply three to four dots (or slightly heavier press of each “dot”). For those who struggle working with higher coverage products, this one might be the one to try as the others were more pigmented (though all of them more buildable/spreadable for sheerer coverage–to varying degrees).

The liquid highlighter had a very fluid, lightweight texture that felt almost airy, serum-like, and it slid readily over my skin; it didn’t have a cooling or watery-feel that most liquid highlighters have. I didn’t have any issues applying it to bare skin or over foundation, and I was able to use fingertips or a synthetic brush to achieve even, diffused results that did not lift up foundation or create patchiness. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

The end result was still a “warmer” toned hue to my eye. The texture was smooth and pulled across my skin without tugging, but it didn’t distribute product as evenly as desired.

It had more semi-sheer color payoff in a single layer, which I tried to build up but the slip in the formula made it inclined to push around product. This resulted in thicker areas that were more pigmented and other areas that were sheerer and appeared patchy. Even though it did not seem dry, actual application to my lower lash line had a more ragged edge than ideal. It lasted for seven hours before fading visibly.

The formula seemed water-resistant based on testing with water, but the wear was more like 10 to 13 hours (depending on the shade) rather than 18 hours of solid wear. A lot of the shimmer shades lasted four to six hours on the waterline, while more matte shades tended to last five to seven hours on my waterline. These are long-wearing times for a pencil eyeliner, generally, but they are a fair bit short of the 18-hours claimed so a lot of shades rated lower than they might seem if you aren't a stickler for 18-hour wear!

ColourPop Sistas Crème Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a deeper, coppery red with a slightly metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied fairly evenly to my skin but I’d be careful about layering it up too much as it was more prone to pushing product around.

The texture had enough slip that it didn’t tug on my lash line, but it was a bit thinner and could have been smoother as the edges appeared a little uneven (but were hard to smudge/soften). It stayed on decently for seven and a half hours before fading/thinning.

Rare Beauty Mesmerize Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight ($22.00 for 0.5 oz.) is a light pink with strong, warm undertones and a smooth, pearly sheen. The finish could be intensified to more of an otherworldly-level, metallic glow that beamed and was very shiny when worn at full coverage or when layered.

It was quite pigmented where a little went a long way at delivering both some coverage and shine, and the brand’s recommendation for “one to two dots” of product yielded a more forgiving, buildable application of coverage that was more medium to semi-opaque (two “dots” could get nearly opaque if those dots are more heavily pressed/applied!). Like I’ve said before, the formula is solid but can have a learning curve to figure out how much product yields that happy medium of coverage and shine based on one’s preferences.

This shade had a more buildable glow compared to some in the range (which were more intense from the get-go), which was more in sync with the formula’s description. The consistency was very lightweight, airy but had substance enough that it glided across my skin without being prone to lifting up foundation or emphasizing my pores. It applied evenly and blended out well with fingertips or a synthetic brush. There were signs of fading present after eight and a half hours of wear.

ColourPop Bae Breeze Eyeliner Kit ($12.00 for 0.12 oz.) includes a full-sized gel eyeliner and pencil eyeliner in near-matching shades. The pencil was lighter and warmer by a touch–more of an orange-leaning coral–while the gel eyeliner was slightly pinker.

Bae Breeze is a brighter, light-medium coral with warmer, more orange undertones and fine golden pearl throughout. The texture was lightly creamy but had some texture to it due to the shimmer particles running through it. I didn’t have any issues applying it to my lash line, as it did not tug or pull during application, and had even, semi-opaque coverage in a single layer. I was able to build up the coverage to opaque with a second layer, though it seemed to dry down to a drier, more matte finish that emphasized my skin texture. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

The updated formula is supposed to have "18-hour" wear that is waterproof and be "super pigmented" for both the lash line as well as the waterline. The brand stated that the formula will set "after around 10 seconds." Many shades had semi-opaque to opaque, buildable coverage, but some shades had uneven, sheerer coverage that did not layer well, so they were more challenging to apply and to use.

The majority of shades were creamy enough to glide across the lash line without tugging or pulling, though a few shades were stiffer, more prone to breaking or dragging.

Bae Breeze is a medium, pinky-coral with fine, golden pearl throughout. It had nearly opaque coverage in a single layer with a smooth, gel-like texture that had good glide without feeling overly wet. I did find that it had a tendency to separate along lines a bit, so it wasn’t the smoothest-applying in practice (despite feeling fine to the touch!). It stayed on decently for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Rare Beauty Lucky Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a dewy sheen. It had intense color coverage to the point where a little went a long way, so you’ll want to follow the brand’s guidance to use “one to two dots” per cheek (I’d even say start with one and see how that goes–a light dot, too).

As a result, I had more consistent and foolproof results when applied some to the back of my hand and used a brush or fingertip to diffuse it on my skin. The first time I applied it (which is in the photos), I applied a dot to my cheek and used a fingertip to blend, which wasn’t quite as even in end result as I would have wanted. Subsequent applications went better, thankfully!

The liquid blush had a lightweight, thin, and more emollient serum-like texture that slid well over skin but didn’t seem to lift up my foundation but also worked well over bare skin. It wore well for nine hours before fading noticeably on my skin.
