Surratt Beauty Amethyste & Soigne Lip Lustres Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Surratt Beauty Amethyste Lip Lustre
Surratt Beauty Amethyste Lip Lustre ($32.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “violette quartz.” It’s a nearly clear base with a moderate amount of of violet and teal-to-violet shimmer and sparkle suspended in the base. The Lip Lustre formula is described as “sheer,” “long-wearing,” and “moisturizing.” It is a light-medium thick, tacky gloss that feels very smooth going on and holds on well, even with a really sheer shade like this one. This gloss lasted for four hours and was somewhat hydrating while worn. There was no scent or taste that I could distinguish. The base looks more lavender in the tube, but it doesn’t seem to translate on the lips. MAC Reckless Desire (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. MAC Impossibly Sweet (LE, $15.00) is less violet. Surratt Beauty Soigne Lip Lustre ($32.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as an “elegant sparkling rose.” It’s a light-medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and lighter pink and gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that covered evenly for the most part. Again, it had a tacky texture that helped it last for five hours, but it was still hydrating and very smooth and easy to apply. It isn’t incredibly thick, but it isn’t thin, so you can feel that you’re wearing a gloss on the lips. Buxom Trixie (P, $19.00) is less shimmery. MAC Stoke the Flame (LE, $15.00) is warmer. Marc Jacobs Beauty Pink Diamond (326) (P, $28.00) is lighter. NARS Ophelia (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. NARS Orgasm (P, $26.00) is warmer. NARS Stolen Kisses (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. MAC Flare for Fantasy (LE, $20.00) is warmer. bareMinerals Heartbreaker (LE, $18.00) is lighter. Revlon Pinkissimo (P, $7.99) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Oh man…those are pretty, but (especially for that price) that packaging looks really cheap to me.
Totally understand that! Some people love square-shaped tubes, others find it really cheap-looking!
Soigne is really pretty! And I don’t usually get all excited about shimmery lip products.
There’s always a first, haha!
That’s exactly what I was thinking!!! The price though!!
The Amethyste really looks like a fun gloss. So sparkly and glittery! Very cool.
It is very sparkly! 🙂
These are so pretty! I need both of them! Thank you for reviewing Christine!
No problem, Jennifer!
Soigne is a beautiful colour but I think if I check out anything from this brand it will be the blushes and lipsticks or lip pencils.
What do you have your eye on, Kimmy?
I wish the Amethyste weren’t so very sheer — the color in the tube is gorgeous!
I hear you, Alix! I wish it had more of a violet tint.
Awww, I hoped Amethyste would be more pigmented with less shimmer! I would love a semi-sheer lavender or violet lip gloss with no shimmer!
I think there is a purply shade in the line – maybe that is more violet with less sparkle? 🙂
Loving the lavender and blue shimmers in Amethyste! Looks like a great topper for lipstick. As always, the teal-toned shimmers get me.
It would definitely be nice for layering!
Soigne is really nice!
I liked that one!
So sparkly! Beautiful. I’m really liking the violet sparkles. It would be pretty over lipstick.
It would be!
Really appreciate the Surratt product posts!!!! I love Soigne.. surprising for me..it’s a lipgloss.
No prob, Wendy! It’s so funny – I put the remaining products I had from my Surratt purchase last year on the backburner after I did the blushes, because there just wasn’t enough interest (and so other things were prioritized more highly) – but now that it’s at Sephora, I think it’s easier to access.
accessibility makes a huge difference north of the border..sometimes shake my head in wonder that Canada is so completely asleep and oblivious as to what the consumers want and how they like to shop. Any addition to the Sephora lineup is a welcome one.
Oh my goodness, I do like Soigne! That shimmer, though. Do you know any way to neutralize/difuse the shimmer in a lipgloss, Christine? If there one, I’ll give it a try. Thanks in advance!!!
Oh man, I don’t think so, lol! I honestly am stumped on that one.
Soigne looks really lovely on you!
I’ve been eyeing the Amethyste Lustre for aaages on the Liberty London site (they carry the whole Surratt range, I think), but there were no reviews and I’d not seen it in person so I kept vetoing it. It’s fantastic to see some good swatches! It’s more sheer than I might have hoped, but it’s really beautiful imo. I will probably get it the next time I order something from Liberty.
The sparkle is pretty, and it’s certainly noticeable (more so in person), but I hear you – it is very sheer!
I love, love, love both of these. With that being said, I do not see me purchasing either one in the near future unless I hit the lotto. The price is way too high for a lip gloss. I love the long wear and moisturizing formula. The shades are gorgeous and perfect for summer. I prefer a sheer lipstick or gloss as the temps rise. But,I just don’t think I could bring myself to pay that much for a gloss. I would love to see these in a min, more affordable version. As I see the reviews and prices,I am a bit concerned that Sephora won’t bring this line into smaller stores because it may not sell that well due to the price range and /or they won’t carry it long because of the price range. But, that in turn, hurts the sales. Many people don’t but cosmetics online.
The funny thing is that I think I ended up liking the lip gloss more than the eyeshadows, which was a surprise for me. I think these balanced tackiness for longer-wear in an updated way – like MAC Lipglass feels very old school to me, and this feels like what MAC should update their Lipglass formula to, if that makes sense!
But it is a pricey line – while $32 for a blush isn’t at the highest end, the reality is that you’re probably not spending ~$10 because packaging is very minimal.
It makes sense! It would be great if Mac did update the lipglass formula to be like this without a price increase- or at least not a significant price increase.
These are for sure going on my wish list. I really like them. I’m not bothered by the packaging. I care more about the product. They are pricey though. If I get one, it probably will be on a whim. I really don’t “need” any glosses. Things like these- Pricey things that I have probably something close that really I can do just fine without,I find I will pick up on impulse(which I am aware is not a good thing) either after a particularly rough day/event or as a reward type of thing. That’s why it is usually better if they are actually in the store, lol(for them and me too in a way):)
I’m a little hurt Amethyste turned out to be so sheer but it still looks reall pretty. I agree with the other ladies about the packaging though. It looks cheap. Not nearly as nice as those fancy looking eyeshadow casings lol
I know! It’s like the Gucci violet gloss. Can’t we get a real violet? 😉
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about that violet gloss since I first saw it here. It’s so pretty. I kind of like the sheerness for pairing with lipsticks, I bet it would look amazing over blue’s and purples, maybe black.
It should work well for layering!
Ohhh I want them both, they look so beautiful!!!
They are very sparkly!
Amethyste looks so pretty ! Reminds me of Happily ever after 🙂
I can see some resemblance!
I’ve been lemming Amethyst ever since I saw it mentioned in a magazine! Seeing it swatched though, it looks EXACTLY like a gloss I already have, the Givenchy Gelée D’Interdit Smoothing Gloss Balm Crystal Shine in Electric Purple. If anyone loves the look of Amethyst but wants a non-sticky version, go for the Givenchy! It’s also $1 cheaper! 🙂
Oh, nice!
I wish Amethyst was more purple, but love the violet sheen. And Soigne is so pretty, pricey but the Sephora sale will help
Me too! It would have been great if it had a stronger base color.
Oh man. Amethyste looks so gorgeous in the tube. Can you think of any glosses that are actually a pretty lilac and sparkly, like this one should have been?
I can’t 🙁 They’re always super sheer.
ohh solgne is so pretty. i like my glitter glossies
It is!
