Your skin tone/coloring: Deep/Dark NW47
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Clinique Stay Matte Foundation. It oxidizes and makes me look orange. I had such high hopes for that product.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? EOS lip balms…they don’t provide moisture at all. They just sit on top of your lips.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Lancome Teint Idol 24hr
ITA about EOS. It’s a cute little pod thing, but they were worthless as products for me. It would take a lot to inspire me to try anything else from them.
Awww that’s too bad that’s one of my favorite Matte foundations; I’m a NW45 and use Amber.
I was super disappointed. One hour after applying and setting the foundation, I looked like an orange Oompa Loompa! Lol
I agree with you. I bought Clinique Stay Matte foundation last summer and hated it. In fact, it’s the worst foundation I’ve tried in the past 10 years. Retuned it asap. I’m NC50. I had “Golden something” lol.
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium-deep with yellow undertones
Last beauty product that disappointed you?: NARS Albatross. Looked so pretty and golden swatched on my hand, but on my face with an actual brush it’s too light gold. It was heralded for deeper skin tones, but I guess my skin isn’t quite dark enough for it to have the same golden effect I saw on others.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like?: Ambient Lighting Powders. Maybe I just don’t know how to use them effectively. I do have Mood Light in my arsenal since it seems the least fussy for me.
Last beauty product that surprised you?: Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in deep bronze. It’s actually great on my cheeks as a shimmery blush, very natural but glowy with the slightest flush! It’s one product I can say I truly love!
•Light
•MAC Transparent Finishing Powder
•MAC Royal Ball
•Illamasqua Matte Veil
◾Your skin tone/coloring: NW-25
◾Last beauty product that disappointed you? Hourglass modernist eyeshadows, I returned them.
◾Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Guerlain foundation Parure de Lumiere – just didn’t work on by dry skin – I guess this isn’t over-hyped as much as over-priced.
◾Last beauty product that surprised you? Smoky Extravagant Mascara from MUFE. Received a sample and love it.
◾Your skin tone/coloring:
light with neutral undertones – NC15/20
◾Last beauty product that disappointed you?
I bought a Milani black liquid eyeliner (looks like the Kat von D Trooper one) and I have a bad relationship with it. Sometimes it does what I want, other times it flakes and doesn’t lay well on my lid. I won’t be repurchasing.
◾Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like?
Diorshow mascara. The smell!!! WHY!?!?! Cover Girl Lash Blast beats this, hands down.
◾Last beauty product that surprised you?
Sunday Riley face primer. Goes on smooth and I swear this gives me a little coverage too (it’s tinted).
■Your skin tone/coloring: pale leaning cool, hazel eyes, med brown hair
■Last beauty product that disappointed you? YSL Rouge Volupte Shine 04 Rouge in Danger. The first time I used it, it felt fairly moisturizing, but even though the color and finish are beautiful and I think quite expensive looking it seems to be gradually drying! It’s a shame, it’s so pretty on.
■Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Broken record but Dipbrow. Fussy to apply, and only lasted a few hours on me, even over primer and over setting spray. I would love it if they were sheerer and stayed put on my skin.
■Last beauty product that surprised you? Becca Watermelon Beach Tint and Pearl liquid highlighter! I haven’t pulled the trigger on Pearl yet, but it’s such a wonderful, genuinely natural finish and seemed to prime my skin a bit when I tried it under foundation! I was very impressed. 🙂 Watermelon is a little drying on the lips, but not horrible, and it looks very flattering and lasts all day on my cheeks.
1. Pale-Yellow
2. Don’t remember.
3. Shu Uemura lash curler.
4. Naked on the run.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC25
Last beauty product that disappointed you?: Jeffree Star Lipstick in 714. Beautiful shade, but the consistency and opacity were awful.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like?: KVD lipsticks. All of them.
Last beauty product that surprised you?: Julep lip glosses. I swore off lip gloss for the longest time in favor of matte lips… and then happened to try one of their lip glosses in a pinch. So in love! Perfect, non-sticky formula that wears wonderfully.
YES! I am returning my 714 lipstick. It’s streaky, doesn’t dry down and looks clownish on me. :-/
Skin Tone: NC 20
Disappointment: Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palettes – Silver Lake collection (LE). Beautiful in the package, but poor color payoff.
Overhyped product that I didn’t like: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I find the giant brush hard to control and end up with product on my lids. It seems gloopy on the wand and feels like it is drying out quickly.
Surprise: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate lipsticks … great colors and finishes. Also Loreal Infalliable foundation – looks great all day!
Your skin tone/coloring: Yellow, Medium Tan; NC37, NARS Stromboli
Last beauty product that disappointed you?: Almay One Coat Thickening Waterproof Mascara b/c it flakes and doesn’t keep my curl 🙁
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like?: Cetaphil products
Last beauty product that surprised you?: UD Naked Skin Foundation (mostly because I was under the impression that I wouldn’t like it)
What shade are you in the UD foundation?
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium? I’m currently going through a transition phase where is seems like NOTHING matches me… The closest match I have is Nars Vallarius which says its pink based but I’m quite obviously yellow based… I don’t know lol.
Last beauty product that disappointed you: the Volume de Chanel mascara.. its soo clumpy on me! ALSO the Givenchy Le Rouge lipstick in Rose Dressing.. the color was so patchy and sunk into my fine lines of my lips I was SOOO depressed because the color was to DIE FOR.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Benefits porefessional.. it did nothing for me even though every youtuber in history raves over it =/
Last beauty product that surprised you: The Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo? No 6. The formula is amazing. Somehow it doesn’t look like you are wearing lipstick at all! The color just melts onto your lips and conditions them while looking so beautiful and natural. They are on my list to buy more colors.
■Your skin tone/coloring: Fair complected redhead, neutral to warm undertones.
■Last beauty product that disappointed you? Benefits They’re Real Mascara.
■Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like?Jeffree Star — Velour Liquid Lipstick in color 714. I’m not sure if they had a bad batch but it seems to not want to dry down for me. Also since it’s so pastel in color, it appears streaky. I’m returning mine…
■Last beauty product that surprised you? Milani Blush in color Luminoso. I’m not sure how I walked past it so many times and never picked it up!
Your skin tone/coloring: NC30
Last beauty product that disappointed you? MAC technakohl liner in Risque – should’ve consulted with temptalia before purchasing.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Hourglass Ambient Lighting- Radiant Light… Everyone raves about it and I just don’t get it! I wanted subtle highlight but I couldn’t see this at all. Not highlighty or glowy at all.
Last beauty product that surprised you? MAC oval 3 brush… bought it on a whim and I love it.
Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair neutral; auburn hair, hazel/green eyes
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Shiseido Radiant Lifting Foundation oxidized really, really badly on me. It turned dark orange.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Tarte Maracuja Bronzing Serum. I got it in a beauty box. It didn’t give me any color at all, even after prolonged use. Plus, something about it wafted up to my eyes and irritated the heck out of them. Probably the coloring agent’s fragrance, as maracuja products have never bothered me before. Awful stuff.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer. I was skeptical, but it came with the QVC set I bought. I’m glad it did, because it works as advertised! It concealed ruddy patches on cheeks (I get that occasionally with my fair skin), red acne spots and undereye circles. It’s a nice full-coverage foundation. Their fair was actually a match for me. It’s not too heavy, not greasy, and didn’t oxidize on me. Happiness.
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium, olive toned complexion
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara: it made my lashes look spidery and clumpy 🙁
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: I didn’t like how this foundation looked on my skin and it didn’t make my skin look glowy or luminous.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Nyx Slim Lip Pencils: these are so good! I have them in a variety of shades and they last on my lips throughout the day 😀
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair with lots of red
Last beauty product that disappointed you? The new MUFE step 1 collection. The smell really bothered me
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Hourglass Modernist Palettes is the only thing that comes to mind, although they weren’t hyped long after they came out.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Every time I get a new Colour Pop Lippie I am surprised by how good they all are!
Your skin tone/coloring: light with yellow undertones
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara, didn’t work for me at all
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? NARS Orgasm is okay, but is too glittery for my taste, so hyped, and I wish NARS would stop including it in every release
Last beauty product that surprised you? The Sunday Riley Good Genes treatment has become my #1 holy grail skincare item. It pretty much immediately made a difference in the texture of my skin and helps with discolouration from blemishes a bit. Over the last few months of using it, my friends have been asking me what my secret is!
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium-dark (NARS Sheer Glow Tahoe)
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Formula X for Sephora nail polishes. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or if I got a bad bottle, but the application is ridiculously streaky.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? I’m very “meh” about EOS lip balms. I don’t think they’re as magical as everyone claims.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Sephora Collection eye pencils! They stay on forever and the color payoff is pretty awesome!
Aren’t Sephora’s pencils amazing? I just love them and I’d love them if they were twice the price but at the actual price point, they’re such a bargain.
Porcelain with pink undertones
They’re Real! Mascara
NARS Lip Gloss – sticky all colors are super sheer, just boring. Take several dips into the tube to get enough to cover my lips and my lips aren’t even huge,
NYC Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss -the texture was not sticky AT ALL and lasted as long as high end products. You also get a lot more product.
Your skin tone/colouring:
light with cool to neutral undertones – Nw13/1N1DW
◾Last beauty product that disappointed you?
Lash Accelerator Mascara by Rimmel
◾Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like?
Benefit they’re real. I like it some times but most of the time it’s just way too clumpy for me.
◾Last beauty product that surprised you?
NYC BB powder. It’s actually really finely milled, offers decent coverage and gives the skin a soft focus finish.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool-toned
Last beauty product that disappointed you? probably UD’s Catfight Revolution lipstick. I love the formula but this one is going back – the colour oxidizes (this never happens to me!) and doesn’t last the way F-Bomb does)
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (it would have been in my earlier answer had I not just bought Catfight, which now counts as “newest”)
Last beauty product that surprised you? Hmmmm, probably Sephora’s new Teint Infusion Ethereal foundation (I only have samples because I really NEED to finish off at least one foundation before buying a new one).
skin tone: fair/ light with pink undertone
hourglass ambient lighting blush palette
mac julia petit collection
eos lip balms…didnt think they would be any better than plain chapstick
Your skin tone/coloring: Blonde, pale with brown eyes
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Clinique eyeshadow palette
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage
Last beauty product that surprised you? Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Melon Pop…it really was AMAZING.
Skin tone/coloring: Very pale, neutral
Last beauty product that disappointed me: Urban Decay’s new powder foundation. It looked really cake-y and unnatural on me.
Most over-hyped beauty product I didn’t like: NYX Intense Butter Gloss. I bought Tres Leches, which swatched beautifully on my hand but might as well have been transparent on my lips.
Last beauty product that surprised me: Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I’m usually suspicious of anything “luminous” since on my skin it usually means “oily.” But this really does make me glow-y, not slimy! And the Mont Blanc shade is a perfect match.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC05
Last beauty product that disappointed you: Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadows.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like: Nars Orgasm and Super Orgasm blushes …. just a big fat NOOOO.
Last beauty product that surprised you: ColourPop Lip Pencils, I wasn’t expecting them to a gel based formula. I squealed!
Your skin tone/coloring: Super duper pale.
Last beauty product that disappointed you: e.l.f. Baked Bronzers (So hard to pick up the product on a brush!)
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like: MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack” (Not the most pigmented black I’ve used, dried up despite my best efforts to keep it alive after a couple months, sometimes had a hard time applying it evenly.)
Last beauty product that surprised you: NYX High Voltage Lipstick (So pigmented, feels lovely on my lips, I adore them!)
NW20/25 (neutral undertone)
NARS Ambient Lighting powder (I have the trio and can’t use any of them without looking ghostly no matter how lightly I apply).
Pretty much anything “Anastasia” (too many less expensive dupes that do a better job)
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and NYX lid primer (I’m waiting for my Cover FX “drops” to arrive and hope they’ll “WOW” me!)
Skintone/coloring: Some kind of warm-neutral fair-medium monstrosity. My skintone seems to change depending on the season/weather/planetary alignment/number of impure thoughts I’ve had lately. No makeup artist or salesperson has ever been able to agree on whether or not I have olive undertones, either.
Latest disappointment: Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up gel eyeliner. Horrible in every way you can judge an eyeliner on: Tugged and had to be practically rubbed on, patchy/flaky/imprecise application, smudged when I blinked, completely dried out in tube 2.5 weeks after opening. So unexpected too, since I enjoy the so-named mascara. If I hadn’t bought it in person at Sephora I’d have sworn it was a horrible counterfeit. Bad batch maybe.
Overhyped: I was SO excited about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting after reading your reviews about the subtlety of their shimmer, but when I went to go test them out in Sephora I found all of them left super glittery particles on my skin that flashed when they caught any light. I am still not sure what happened, did someone mess with the samples or something?! I don’t think they’re overhyped because they were definitely true to all the other qualities you’ve described regarding their pore blurring and imperfection-masking qualities, but even after wiping them away I was left with a rather blinged-out forearm. So disappointed because I loved everything else about them.
Latest Surprise: The Ambient Lighting powders, in a bad way, but generally not much surprises me because I follow your recs and rarely do we disagree on things when I try them for myself. I guess I’ve been (good-)surprised by the effectiveness of some DIY recipes I’ve tried lately.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light medium with yellow undertones/ MAC NC30
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Real Techniques sponge
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? NARS Laguna Bronzer. I expected more pigmentation.
Last beauty product that surprised you? YSL Fusion Ink Foundation and MAC Cinderella Eyeshadow Palette. LOVE IT!
Skin tone: light neutral, Nars Mont Blanc
Last disappointing beauty product: Covergirl Clump Crusher. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t clump because there’s hardly ever any product on the wand.
Most over-hyped product I didn’t like: Benefit’s Porefessional. It does nothing to hide or blur my pores.
Last beauty product that surprised me: the sample sized Kat Von D Immortal Lash Mascara I got with VIB points. It’s as close as I’ve gotten to an HG product in a long time.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC 25
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Benefit Roller Lash (I think I’m the only one who wasn’t impressed)
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? MAC Royal Ball lipstick. It’s only alright.. it’s not worth the money though.
Last beauty product that surprised you? NYX Butter Lipgloss in Cupcake.. soooo gorgeous!
1. Skin tone: NW15 – very fair, porcelain with pinkish undertones
2. Haven’t had any for quite a long while
3. I think a lot of the MAC products are over-hyped and their eye shadows aren’t that great anymore.
4.Maybelline Colour Sensational lipsticks – much better than I ever thought for a drugstore lipstick and as good as most of the high end brands.
Oh – I forgot to add to number 4 – the NYX creamy lipstick in Snow White – very marsala-ish and it lasts a long time. A nice surprise.
Your skin tone/coloring: light med/yellow
Last beauty product that disappointed you?: Nars dual blushes.it’s just I’ve high hope for this things but all I got just super shimmer blush ;(
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like?: Anastasia Eyeshadows and Liquid Lipsticks,I don’t understand why people loved this eyeshadows so much, they’re just so-so products to me and I can’t used liquid lipsticks without dring my lip in two hours or so!
Last beauty product that surprised you?: Bobbi Brown Monday to Sunday lipsticks!
Your skin tone/ coloring: Urban Decay Light with warm undertones
Last Beauty Product that disappointed you: The tarte quad from the eye heart tarte ulta gift set. They weren’t very pigmented and all had fall out, even the mattes.
Most overhyped product that you didn’t like: The de-slick makeup setting spray- for some reason it just didn’t work on my skin. I know that it is made by Skindanavia and I love their setting sprays but for some reason, this one just didn’t work for me even though I have heard a bunch of YouTubers rave about it.
Last beauty product that surprised you: I was hunting through the clearance shelf at an ulta near me and found a Napolean Perdis China Doll gel eyeliner in black. I bought it because it was marked down so much and I absolutely love it. For it being on the clearance shelf, it was a shock.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC15
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Probably Benefit Roller Ball mascara or Urban Decay mascara. Neither one is horrible. They’re just not as great as I’d want them to be.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? probably the roller ball mascara. And benefit’s they’re real mascara. I’ve heard of so many people that love it and it just never works for me the way it seems to for everyone else.
Last beauty product that surprised you? I would have to say Colour Pop eyeshadows. I’d seen the reviews on here but still wasn’t excpecting their eyeshadows to be quite as amazing as they are. The fact that they’re only $5 still blows my mind because the quality is just so good.
Your skin tone/coloring: MAC N1/NW15, NARS Gobi in Sheer Glow
Last beauty product that disappointed you?: Sephora Full Action Mascara. A TINIEST bit of moisture on my eyes resulted in a full-fledged puddle of brown on my eyelid. It was a disaster! Ah, and MAC’s Matchmaster concealer. It’s good, but costs more than the Pro Longwear one (especially per gramm!), so I had really high hopes for it, but it does not do as good a job at not creasing as the Pro Longwear one does.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Well, usually I find that the hype is justified (lucky me 🙂 ), so can’t complain much there.
Last beauty product that surprised you? NARS lipsticks in general (I know, I know, but we just got NARS where I live) and in Niagara in particular. The texture an how it feels on my lips is so comfortable and (I’ll say it!) creamy 🙂 Love then, will try to collect more colors as I go. The Niagara is a beautiful color as well.
■Your skin tone/coloring: Light olive
■Last beauty product that disappointed you? – Clinique BB cream.. so thick and impossible to spread, ugh!
■Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? – Revlon Lip Butters!!
■Last beauty product that surprised you? Kanebo Sensai SPF 8 Hand Treatment: it’s getting rid of my dermatitis so well!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/neutral
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Smashbox Contour Sticks and Bare Minerals Tinted Gel Cream
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation – it seemed like everywhere I turned, it was being advertised, so of course I had to try it, and I hated it! It felt so oily and heavy on my face. (I’m beginning to think Bare Minerals is over-hyped, but the jury is still out.) Also, NARS Orgasm – never did understand its cult status.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Algenist Restorative Overnight Cream. I got a sample, and I really think it is making a difference in my skin. I may have to shell out for the full-sized product. Also, I was very pleased with the Maybelline Matte Blush Stick in Fiery Flora. It was easy to blend and left a nice coral flush.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair-Light/Neutral
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Nude Skincare Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask. Such a long title. I went through a sample (about three tries) and each time I woke up feeling like it stole my moisturizer. Just didn’t work on me.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Not that I didn’t like it but didn’t understand the hype and the price. GlamGlow Youthmud/Supermud. For what it does I could buy 1.7 oz of it for $69 or I could buy AHAVA’s Purifying Mud Mask at 3.4 oz for $33 and have it give me the same results either GlamGlow mask gives. Made me crazy.
Last beauty product that surprised you? In an attempt to not end up with a lot of skincare responses, Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector (the liquid one). I purchased the Pearl one not long ago. I loved the highlighting but once I tried it as a primer the product really became a staple for me. I’ve had a few days where I sheer it out in “primer” mode and just throw on mascara and lip balm. I’d really like to try one of the new poured ones as well.
Your skin tone/coloring: Light with neutral-to-warm undertones.
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara – I should have known better really LOL as I can only do tubing mascaras these days, but this really settled under my eyes at the end of the day, plus I couldn’t build it up at all.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Benefit They’re Real! Mascara – oh my god hatred. The more I tried to build, the more it just made my lashes straight and heavy. Whereas I love, LOVE BADgal Lash Mascara – go figure.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss!! Gorgeous texture and actually really hydrating – I really must go buy backups before all the shades are gone!
“Benefit They’re Real! Mascara – oh my god hatred” I totally agree with this statement!! Plus it’s so damn hard to get off the lashes at the end of the day!! GRRR!
YES!! That was just the icing on the crappy cake 😉
Your skin tone/coloring: light warm
Last beauty product that disappointed you? MAC’s Neutralize CC Cream. Didn’t do anything for my redness.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Can’t think of one at the moment.
Last beauty product that surprised you? The Smashbox Pore Minimizing primer. I didn’t think any primer could beat the Dior Pore Minimizer, but this one does!
Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair (neutral)
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Benefit’s Watts Up highlighter. It displaces whatever foundation I’m wearing underneath, plus it’s a bit too shimmery for my liking. (Free deluxe sample, so at least I’m not out $$$.)
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? I thought many of Revlon’s Lip Butters were disappointing. They’re fine enough, I guess, but I expected more after all the hype. (Yes, I’m way late to the Lip Butter party!) Oh, and EOS lip balm. I like the texture and fragrance (Mmm lemon drop), but they just do *not* moisturize my lips at all.
Last beauty product that surprised you? Maybelline’s entire Volume Express line of mascaras (especially The Falsies and Colossal Volume). I’ve tried several popular mascaras–TF Better than Sex, Benefit They’re Real, Tarte Lights/Camera/Lashes, Dior/Chanel/etc–and I really think drugstore mascaras are every bit as good.
About C1 or slightly darker, light yellow olive tone
Clarins Instant concealer. Not pigmented enough for me, creases
Nars Sheer Glow fdn. Looks cakey and dry on cheeks, makes T-zone very oily.
Actually two nice recent discoveries: Ysl Touche Eclat fdn and the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy lipstick (in Dynamic, but want to get more colors). Yes, the Ysl fdn also makes my T-zone shiny and I have to blot, but otherwise it makes my skin look beautiful and doesn’t create issues I didn’t even know I had. HG for me.
Skintone- Medium with gold undertones
Last product that disappointed you- Benefits bad gal mascara. It did nothing for me but clump.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like- Benefits They’re real push up liner. It just crumbled and never stayed in place. Still have nightmares about it.
Last beauty product that surprised you- LASplash lip couture. Got Ghoulish and it’s now my most amazingly adored go to lipstick. It goes on smooth, sets fast, and stays. Love it.
Deep skin color cool red u dertones (nw47)
LA girl concealer
LA girl concealer
Ruby kiss lip glace (lipgloss super pigmented nonsticky and great formula!)(yesterday)
Your skin tone/coloring: NC15, Estee Lauder DW in 1W1 Bone
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Oof, probably the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I’ve heard such good things about it but I have dark circles for days and it just wasn’t enough coverage. The texture was also weird on me when it set. Also the fairest shade is way too pink for me since I have warm undertones and I prefer my under-eye concealer to have warm undertones to cover up the purple.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? The original Naked palette. Don’t get me wrong, the colors are gorgeous and very high quality, it’s just that they all kind of look the same. There’s no variety. When I use this palette, I have to supplement with other colors or else they all blend together and get muddy and gross. I don’t regret buying it, because there are several shades in it that I would have bought individually (with a total price greater than just the palette), but I don’t think it’s worth the hype at all. I like the Too Faced Chocolate Bar (original) much better. It’s neutral but still has variety.
Last beauty product that surprised you? I just got the Clinique cheek pop blush in nude (based on your recommendation!). I wasn’t expecting it to be bad, because it’s gotten such great reviews, but I was afraid that the cheek pop formula was over-hyped in general. I thought “there’s no way it’s THAT good,” especially since I don’t love Clinique anyway. But it totally is! The color is just gorgeous on me, perfect for when I have no idea what blush to use, or when I want to look more natural. I also really appreciate the luminous/sheen finish, because I prefer a blush that has a bit of glow to it, and it was pretty long lasting.
First of all, hi Christine and hi everyone! New community member here. I’ve been reading Temptalia for ages so it’s a pleasure to finally join 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: light with yellow undertones
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Soap & Glory Hand Food. It did absolutely nothing for dry skin.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quad. It creases on me like crazy, even on UD Primer Potion (which works wonders for staying power of all the eyeshadows I own, high end or drugstore). Such a pity, the colours are so pretty…
Last beauty product that surprised you? Smashbox Cherry Smoke palette. It’s awesome and less pink than I thought (fortunately, since pink is definitely not my colour!)
Welcome, Moireach!! xo
Welcome to the community! 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: Light/Medium
Last beauty product that disappointed you? Clinique’s Even Better Concealer. Very, very dry, hard to work product and to top it off I ordered online and purchased a color that is too yellow for me.
Most over-hyped product that you didn’t like? Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
Last beauty product that surprised you? In a good or bad way? Either way I can’t recall lol.
