Sneak Peek: Urban Decay Liquid Vice Lipsticks (Fall 2017) Photos & Swatches

Urban Decay Liquid Vice Lipsticks ($18.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) range sees an additional 10 shades added to the permanent lineup. All 10 shades are exclusive to Ulta.

First Impressions

Based solely on swatching and applying each shade to my lips once for lip swatches, the formula remains inconsistent from shade to shade. I am not a huge fan of the Vice Liquid Lipstick formula, as the coverage is all over the place, some feel incredibly tight and clingy on the lips and others don’t seem to fully dry down. The Metallized finish can be sheer to more opaque, and the more cream-like shadess tend to be opaque. Even the texture varied a lot from overly fluid to airy and mousse-like. For example, Unbroken hurt to wear just swatching, as it felt like it sucked the life out of my lips and shriveled them up and held them in that position. I appreciate the brand’s shade and texture ranges in the line-up but the formula is so far from perfected.

I picked up and put back Shadowheart a couple of times during my last Ulta trip ultimately figuring I’d wait for your thoughts. Just looking at it here I wish I’d gone ahead and bought it. I stocked up on the gloss on sale and they look like a great pair!

Comeback looks painful too! If they’re this dry on you, with how much care you take of your lips and skin so you can swatch, I would look like a corpse! UD can have all my money for the regular Vice formula, but the liquids are still a pass.

Comeback and Kinky are pretty colors and even though the Unbroken looks really drying it is a great color.I’ve noticed that the more neutral liquid lips from Urban Decay are the ones that work way better and aren’t patchy.I like Brat and Backtalk a lot and of the metallized ones I’ve tried Trap Queen actually went on and worked well for me.Firebird was horrible.Shadowheart is actually very pretty and even looking in the swatch.Psycho is also nice but I would want to layer it until it was opaque and that probably would not work it sure didn’t from my experience with Firebird.

The flat mattes look incredibly uncomfortable. But I really don’t see how the ones with slight glitter should be more forgiving, rather than less. There are some gorgeous and not run of the mill colors, though. I should know better, if abh makes me wince!

Oh! I wanted to like these for Fall but they look exactly like the other “matte” lip products I’ve tried. Dry, aging, flaky & (yes) ugly! Otherwise LOVE Urban Decay … good quality, priced right!

Eyeshadow pallettes are wonderful … Speaking for ladies over 40 & possibly for every woman out there – Hope this dry, aging matte-craze dies! Very, very soon. Shows up every crease in your lips and makes them look smaller. Really!

Especially in Winter … we all need moisturizing, creamy, luminous stuff on our faces … not “Clown Make-up”! Good day! ;D

I looked at images first, and then went back and read your comments. I think Unbroken is so beautiful, but clearly I can see it is uncomfortable on you. Thank you for your sacrifice! I think these are gorgeous, and I may have to try them out in store since I often go for a very matte lip. Vanity and Shadowheart may need to come home with me.

Wow. Unbroken *looks* painful; such a big difference in the end result between that and Psycho or Rapid. Comeback and Kinky don’t look exactly comfortable either (I think I’m finally beginning to understand what you mean by “clingy”). Shadowheart is intriguing to me.

The better-looking ones (Psycho, Rapid) have that thin, watery-when-applied look that reminds me of the only matte liquid lipsticks that I really like (from Notoriously Morbid), that spread easily and seem to somehow simultaneously “sink in” and sit comfortably on top of top of the lips. Weird that UD’s formula is so inconsistent from color to color.
