For summer, Too Faced Melted Metal Liquified Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a new formula now available in eight shades. I haven’t had a chance to test any of these (my order arrived yesterday along with the just-posted MAC collections, so you can imagine I’m a bit behind!), but I thought I’d share swatches in the meanwhile 🙂 The formula does feel somewhat different to me compared to the original based on applying them for lip swatches yesterday.

OMG, Metallic Jelly is calling my name!! If the reviews are any decent, I will DEFINITELY be getting that. The shimmer is so complex, and it’s such a gorgeous plum berry. Metallic Violet is pretty too but looks kind of uneven, if it doesn’t score well, I’ll be looking for dupes….

Blue Avatar

Jelly and Macaron for sure, but all of them are gorgeous with that metallic sheen. Some almost look more like a shimmer, so I’m looking forward to your review–that’ll probably be how I decide on the others!

Emma Avatar

My mantra for the next few weeks is gonna be “I don’t need Metallic Jelly, I don’t need Metallic Jelly.”

I’m secretly hoping it has a terrible review.

Cayley Avatar

Wow, I just looked up Guerlain Gems and I’m so sorry that it was LE! Any other dupes of this floating out there you can think of? It’s such a gorgeous colour with that sparkly golden finish!

Tigerlily Avatar

*pictures self dragging Peony and Debutante into shopping cart, then pining for the order to arrive*

Macaron makes your lips look like they belong in a fairy tale, Christine!

Bottom line: these look amazing. Metallic the most flattering texture on my 30-something y.o. lips so I can’t wait to get my hands on those.

StrangeOne Avatar

Oh, wow! I am a total Matte girl and have never been tempted by sheers, metallic or any other variations but these are beautiful.

Christine Avatar

I sure did, and I instantly went down a spiral of what I call “swatching regret,” LOL! I was like, “Why… why did I do this…” I had to do it, because I paid a whopping $17 shipping for my Too Faced order (when I did their free shipping, it took almost 2.5 weeks between when I ordered and when it actually arrived, and $17 is their cheapest upgraded shipping), so I refused to have paid that for nothing.

Nicole Avatar

I am so glad you got these AND that you mentioned that they were different than the original formula which I adore! So, I am thanking you for being the most awesome beauty blogger to ever exist and Too Faced for making products permanent! I will be waiting for your reviews. I love the looks of these! I hope they are as good as the original! You poor thing! I can’t imagine how hard you are working with all the Mac collections coming out at once! Try to get some rest and play too!

Victoria Avatar

I haven’t yet! I should get it on Saturday and I’m excited for it, I’ll be getting it with the palette, too. It’s my birthday present for myself. Hehe it’s all good to use more colors than neutrals for once. :3

Megan Avatar

*heavy breathing* I LOVE these! The regular melted line left a little to be desired for me but these, these look gorgeous! Hoping for great reviews but even if not I will still get my hands on 4 or 5.

Jessica Avatar

Debutante looks GORGEOUS. I’m quite surprised, they all look really good. When I read metal, I thought cyber and chrome metallic. I keep forgetting we are in the modern age. Hello, Jessica, wake up!

Kristina Avatar

WOW! Just W-O-W!!!!

These look like Zoya nail lacquer for the lips! So beautiful with complex refined shimmer, they seem to glow on your lips.

It has been a really long time since something in ‘beautyland’ has piqued my interest. I feel like I’ve been in such a cosmetic rut.

Quick question: I have never tried a Melted; can the formula be sheered out or is it ‘full coverage or bust’?

Thanks 🙂

Christine Avatar

The original Melted formula is pretty much opaque in one go. I mean, you could apply BARELY ANY and maybe get sheerer coverage, but… it’s not easy. These have a thinner consistency that will make them easier to sheer out, based on very, very, VERY preliminary usage.

Lauren Avatar

I really love the original Melted lipsticks – they might be my favorite liquid lipstick – and now to add a newer, prettier formula… -siiigh- Macaron and Jelly will likely be my first purchases, pending your reviews!

Bonnie Avatar

Peony and Debutante are calling my name!!!! Gorgeous!!! Although…I think these kind of light peachy coral shades are probably best suited for someone with a different coloring than me. Like a blonde, blue eyed type of coloring, whereas I have dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and light-medium skin. Why do I always fall for colors that aren’t made for me! I usually say screw it and wear them anyway! 😉

Kalli Avatar

I’ll have to check out Peony & Tu-tu in person, as it’s a bit hard to tell the difference but the golden-corally-pink colors on both are soooo pretty! Love Macaron too! These will be perfect for spring and summer!

Regan Wilson Avatar

Do you know if these will be released on Sephora’s website? Any info on the date? I think I need all of them! They’re stunning!

monica Avatar

These are so pretty!! I think I need to run to the store and try one or two out. I’m trying to find a lip color to wear to a formal event next month. It’s crunch time and I don’t even know what I’m wearing yet :/

Lacey Avatar

Is it weird that I might end up being more drawn to a few of these than the original Melted colors? Some of these seem like they could be sheerer and work with different skintones. The original line-up doesn’t seem to have anything but in-your-face colors or lighter colors that are way off the mark for my complexion.

Dominique Avatar

I love Macaroon and Metallic Dream House I saw them the day they came out on TooFaced.com but I wanted to wait to see what they looked like on your lips color wise!Your blog makes it so much easier for me to determine what color I want because we have a similar skintone.Thank you

emily b Avatar

OMG. Debutante looks like everything I’ve been looking for in a long-wearing lip color but haven’t been able to find. Oh how I hope it gets a good review!!

Sara Avatar

Wow! LOVE these! Peony, Tu-Tu, Debutante, Jelly, Macaron… I’d wear them all! I’m curious for their ratings to see how well they perform in comparison to the original formula (which I still haven’t bought yet, I haven’t tried the newest colors they release yet but I wasn’t a fan of the original colors released). I might pick up one of the metallics!

Xan Avatar

I usually don’t like shimmery or metallic lip colours for my own personal preferences, but I’m really liking these, especially Jelly and maybe Macaron! And I like how it looks like the formula is opaque without being heavy and pasty.

Katherine Avatar

Ok now I really want Debutante and Jelly (and maybe Tu-Tu too). I have a deluxe sample of one of the originals, and I really dislike the formula. Maybe it was just that color in particular (bright pale pink) but it was so dry, settled into my lines, patchy, etc. Those two colors are so gorgeous I really hope that the formula’s better, or at least I like it better.

whitney Avatar

I’m so glad you posted this! I absolutely love all of the normal melted lipsticks and when I saw they metal ones I was so excited. I am so eager to get some but wasn’t sure which ones, but now that you’ve swatched them all, you’ve made my life easier. Eager to see your ratings!

Stephanie Avatar

My first thought was that these sound terrible, because I hate metallic makeup (especially on lips) and was never wooed by the original Melted.

Welp. These are gorgeous. Damn.

Maria Avatar

The Debutante and Jelly are calling my name. Looking for a coral-ly pink – not sure if macaroon will be it. Will wait for your review. Thanks for the great service you provide. I always check your reviews prior to a purchase. You are an invaluable source for me!!!!

GG Avatar

Aaaah these are killing me! Metallic Debutante is one of the prettiest colors I’ve seen but I can’t stand glitteriness on anything except my eyes. So torn!

Dustin Avatar

Debutante FTW!!! On you. Not on me! LOL! Can’t wait to see the full face shot tho. Looks SO pretty! I know you’re testing so often and don’t imagine you have many opportunities to just play but have you ever worn these (meaning the regular formula as well) over different liners? Curious if they blend well and aren’t so opaque that you can still alter them a little.

Christine Avatar

The Metallic ones feel thinner to me, so I think they are more readily sheered out. The original range is SO pigmented that it’s harder to get a sheer layer out of it except by using the least amount with a lip brush (probably fingertip, actually).

I haven’t worn them over liner, but I think that when used sparingly, they have a thinner and less glossy shine to them such that they probably would blend well over a liner.
