Sneak Peek: Too Faced Le Grand Palais Eyeshadow Palette Photos & Swatches
Too Faced Le Grand Palais Eyeshadow Palette
Too Faced Le Grand Palais Eyeshadow Palette ($59.00 for 1.93 oz.) includes 18 eyeshadows, two blushes, one highlighter, one bronzer, plus travel-sized versions of their eyeshadow primer, best-selling mascara, and liquid lipstick. As a heads up, this palette contains a lot of shades with chunky sparkle or glitter, and it’s a real shame Too Faced didn’t include their Glitter Insurance instead of their regular eyeshadow primer, because you can imagine the mess it makes without an adhesive base. Full review to come!

I got mine last night and I’m thinking of returning it. At least a third of the shadows crumble and the powder and glitter separate. Whether applied with a brush or your finger these gritty glitter shadows are just not able to hold together. A glitter glue will help them stick but it doesn’t help the pigmentation because the powder in the is already sheer. The more you pack on to get density, the crumblier it gets. The fall out isn’t easy to clean up. What makes this not worth the money for me is that it’s a lot of work and time for not a lot of payoff. It’s a look more easily achieved with other shimmery shadows. It’s really too bad this didn’t work out because I enjoyed last year’s palette and made this year’s one an automatic buy.
Thanks for your opinion. I’m so sad to hear you didn’t like it. I still really love last year’s holiday palette so I was sure I was going to buy this year’s but after seeing the swatches that look like the shadows are definitely lacking in pigmentation and quality and reading your opinion, I’m really sad and disappointed that I’ll proabably end up passing on this palette.
What a bummer!! Sorry to hear that.
WOW, some of those are terrible!
Oh wow, I didn’t realize some the shades were so chunky glittery, looks like fall-out city! I agree, they should’ve included their TF glitter glue here, although with my oily lids, I might need superglue LOL. Looks like a real mixed bag here, I think I see some D’s & F’s already. I got their Everything Nice palette last year and really like it, can skip this one. I like Satin Sheets & Eiffel Tower, will checking the dupe list.
Satin Sheets is in the Boudoir Eyes Palette!
Thanks for letting me know! It’s so pretty
Well this looks like an easy pass! Thanks Christine!
I agree! Thanks for the review. I hadn’t really planned to get it anyway but now I def don’t regret that decision.
Hey for once the purple shadow isn’t the problem child in the bunch, lol!
This is way too glittery for my taste. Too bad because the dollhouse packaging is very cuter and there are some nice shades in there.
Oooph. Those swatches don’t look too promising. I think I’ll be passing on this one.
A lot of the swatches look disappointing 🙁 Dreamlight and Wish List are very pretty though. And Stardust is a really pretty shade as well.
I must not fall for TF’s holiday sets just because they’re Paris themed and the packaging is precious. I will be strong.
Maybe.
I’m right there with you, Lacey–the packaging is so pretty it’s hard to stay strong. *sits on paws*
Oh Too Faced, what have you done?!? This is nowhere near the quality of years past, like Jingle All The Way, for example. I’m just going to stick with the Spectrum palette and hopefully, Guo Pei Morning Light palette, too. Intending to put Nars single shadows in Mekong and Nepal in a carved out, reconfigured Elf palette as well. Perhaps it’ll fit 3!
I think people would be better off purchasing the Chocolate Bar palette if they want similar shades from Too Faced
This wasn’t even on my list but a part of me kinda wants it lol. Some of the shimmery shades look so beautiful and the luminizer and bronzer are gorgeous too. And it comes with minis too? Yeah I might need this lol
Midnight in Paris and Party Dress both look like a hot mess, but I’m still thinking of getting this one regardless . . . Hmm, will have to really think about it, since the rest of the colors appeal to me but all seem fairly dupeable.
Oh, wow, most of these look really bad. It’s a shame, because the packaging is precious. All of the money must have gone into designing that.
I got both Chocolate bar palettes and a lot of these colors are very similar to the ones in the bars. This is a pass for me. God knows I have speant too much on makeup recently. I even got the BH cosmetics cosmic chic palette. Mine was about $12; its beautiful, all the shadows are pigmented.
I love the Cosmic Chic palette. It’s so beautiful. Cute packaging, too!
I agree…most of these are duped in the two Chocolate palettes, and with far better quality.
I wanted this really badly, but then I saw a few reviews on YouTube and apparently the quality is just not there. I heard the glittery shadows are chunky and gritty, and the fallout is really bad. I do love Satin Sheets, City Lights, Dreamlight, and Wish List, but I don’t think this palette will be rated higher than B-. I’ll be waiting for Christine’s review on the Grand Chateau set.
I just got this mental image in my head of far too many holiday palettes and you walking out of your house covered in swatches.
Well, that’s not too far off. I’m at the point where 1) I need to hydrate my arm twice a day to avoid it totally drying out, and 2) I photograph even if I can’t swatch (I can only do about 40-50 swatches on my arm at a given time, less if anything stains!) so I can steamroll through these ASAP!
I feel like I did a pretty good job covering most things in a timely fashion last year, and a lot of it had to do with buying things as soon as they released AND putting up sneak peeks (which buys me a little breathing room to test without feeling crazed).
Hahaha! Holidays are here.
You did an amazing job last year. So far you’re doing a stellar job this year, as well.
Oh Christine! I hadn’t even thought of that. While the holidays is a time where your site gets a gazillion visits, your time and resources must be wavering on the thin point. I hope Santa delivers everything from your want list. You do so much for so many. We really appreciate you and all that you do for us! <3
This should be interesting.
I already decided early on I wasn’t getting this, however, I do want to say that I love the packaging lol its pretty amazing, and the detail is incredible, if youll look at the shopping bags on the display, theres even little too faced products in them, so cute!
Alas, poor Too Faced! I knew it, Christine: a brand of infinite cuteness, of most excellent fancy: it hath captured my attention a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! (Too much? LOL) At least we still have the Melted lipsticks, even if we don’t have Paris!
^^^^^^^
I love this comment. 😀
Not too much! Hillarious! My lips are now stuck somewhere close to my ears from smiling a lol-ing!
Well said, Cat! 😀
Oh, my! These are awful!
Ouch. That Midnight in Paris is frighteningly bad, and many of the others aren’t much better.
Wow I see what you mean about the glitter chunks! Some of the shadows are REALLY bad – Midnight in Paris for one. If Too Faced had simply put a satin/slightly shimmery shade in there instead of glitter it would have been a much better palette. And yes, another palette that contains a rich brown and black matte. It does not look like a great palette to me.
Oh, my. I showed this to my boyfriend as an example of brands who otherwise are stepping up their game but then release abysmal holiday products.
His reaction? “Oh, yeah… Man, those look awful.”
I am looking forward to the review. I don’t think I’ll buy this unless it’s super cheap on sale, but I do like some of the colours a lot, so I hope there are really good dupes for the ones I like. I wouldn’t buy a big palette for full prize just for two or three eyeshadows, No, actually, I promise, I wouldn’t.
If only Too Faced (and a few other companies) would put as much effort into the actual product as they put into the packaging/presentation of their holiday sets…
Totally agree! Packaging is amazing but the palette itself, horrible. Most times the shadows/products are made in a different country, i.e. China for these special palettes so the quality is not the same. Get the Marc Jacobs palette…that is the winner this holiday season thus far!
That looks pretty but pricy. It’ll all depend on if Christine reviews it and what grade it gets! 🙂
Agree!
Champs Elysees looks like a pretty good purple (as purples go!) but oh my, Midnight in Paris looks like a total disaster and while Eiffel looks nice in the pan, from the swatch, it looks like another difficult one. Some really nice shadows in here, though but too much like so many I already have. Looks like at least they left out the crappy brushes and put in some TFSI and a lipstick instead. I’d much rather have had those!
Yule log and Eiffel are nice but so much of this looks like a miss. 🙁 Glad I opted for the Kat Von D and UD Spectrem Palettes instead!
Those swatches do not look promising at all which is so sad cause this is one of the few holiday palettes that I was planning on getting
I´m sure I don´t need it, so many of the shadows look so powdery and chunky glittery. No thanks 🙂
but… but… the packaging is sooo cute….
This doesn’t look as exciting as I thought it would look. And already have Melted Peony and a backup eyeshadow insurance. Thanks for savind me money 😉
The packaging is amazing, but beyond that this set really is awful! I was so disappointed with mine. I did use my glitter primer and still had terrible fall out that was quite hard to remove from my face. The es were powdery and took a long time to build up. Just way sad. ?
I thought this looked adorable when the promo pics were first released, but the swatches have confirmed that I don’t want it. There’s nothing particularly innovative or new about the colours and I’ve found that I don’t really reach for this type of extra large palette much, either.
Too Faced packaging always gets me! Their neutrals AND THAT GOLD! But I already have three TF palettes, and most of the shades I want.
I bought this, swatched it, and promptly returned it. I was really disappointed with it. The packaging is adorable, but that’s not enough of a selling point if the products don’t perform. I’m interested to see what your take will be, Christine, when you’re able to post your review…
So glad I didn’t get this.. disappointing
Eurgh, this is very disappointing but also relieving. I just bought the new Vice palette, and I told myself I could get one more holiday palette if something REALLY catches my eye. Phew.
