Sneak Peek: Too Faced I Want Kandee Palette & Liquid Lipsticks Swatches
Too Faced I Want Kandee Collection recently released and included several products from an eyeshadow palette to an eyeliner. I only picked up the eyeshadow palette and four liquid lipsticks to review, which you’ll find swatched in this post.
First Impressions
The shimmery eyeshadows seemed denser, as if they had more binder, and were, on the whole, more pigmented and less prone to sheering out compared to past Too Faced eyeshadows. The mattes were more in line with what I’ve experienced from Too Faced with some being softer and others being a bit firmer, though all of them were thin. Licorice Rope had a slightly stiffer texture but good pigmentation with no kickup in the pan; it seemed like it would be harder to control on the lid and might turn patchy. It felt like a decent palette but had a good number of shades we have seen many times before by Too Faced in their palettes. The packaging was very detailed and certainly had Kandee Johnson’s touch all over it!
The Liquid Lipsticks dried down to a flat, matte finish and were pretty pigmented with the very lightest shade being the hardest to apply evenly. The formula felt a bit heavy and clingy on but would expect wear to be long and them to be on the drying side based on past experience.
Those lippies look great on you! I wish they weren’t so dry looking though. I guess they have emollients in them..but ain’t buying that they do much at all.
Pretty, but the same ol’ same ol’ eye shadow colors from TF. All their “collaborations” look alike.
Not going to buy this becasue I have more than enough palettes, but the quality doesn’t seem as bad as i expected (given their other collaborations). There seem to be only a few duds (assuming they shadows apply as they swatch). As always, thanks for posting!
I’m not usually the biggest fan of sets like this but I think the quality is so so worth checking out at least!
I like the lip colors, though they look kind of dry. The eye palette looks OK, but how in the heck did they mess up taupe?
Right, Rachel?!? I don’t get it either. Taupe is a no brainer, but this one has me smdh.
Just what I need…another fragranced eye palette…
The lipsticks look really dry and uncomfortable, but the eye shadows seem OK – with a couple of exceptions (Taupe).
The shade range is a tad random and all of them we have seen before from TF.
I like the shade Raspberry Cocoa but other than that one I don’t see much that inspires me. The lipsticks are definitely a no go for me. They appear so drying and my lips just can’t take that much dry! I have a lot of lip lines given my age and these look like they may create lip lines rather than smooth them.
Raspberry cocoa was the only one that caught my eye, too Deborah!
Ugh this is so traditional Too Faced. You made it work in the look you did, and Kandee is a wonderful person, but really unless you’re a die-hard Kandee fan, and want to support her, I just wouldn’t go for it. I mean, EVERY Too Faced palate (Except the chocolate bars?) have a baby pink, and neutrals, and just bleeeeghghghhhh. I mean, if someone didn’t have these basics, then ok. And maybe they can rock it like you did! But otherwise I find this so boring. Which is kind of the opposite of who Kandee is!
But buying this palette doesn’t support her. She gets her cut and that’s it. Not like the more you buy the more she makes. Whether you buy or not her career is what it is. Not like if it doesn’t sell she’ll be run out of town or anything. Her collection w Sinful Colors was more exciting than this.
Without knowing the terms, she absolutely could be getting more, unless you’ve seen it? I wasn’t aware of any leaks.
The deal could easily be structured as a flat rate (for her time/energy/appearances) or could include a cut of profits – and if there are a bunch of unsold product that could reduce potential profit depending on whether that’s factored into the deal (and very may well to protect TF from having to pay for palettes unsold or that have to be sold at a discount).
Even just something as little as knowing that 99% of inventory made was sold can go a long way for her in order of getting future deals, maintaining her current level of popularity, etc. It’s pretty common in influencer marketing that lack of conversions can absolutely reduce your opportunities because then all the brand gets is “exposure,” which is a hard currency to put a dollar value on vs. actual sales.
I’m not saying that anyone has to buy anything she collaborates on to support her – there are many ways, like watching her videos or following her on social media, that it can be done – but buying is definitely one way.
Most eyeshadows swatch quite well, which is more than one would expect from Too Faced nowadays… But it looks like they upped the quality a bit for their 2 new collections. Hopefully the Holiday palettes will be decent too! (I’m eyeing the one with the large planner, don’t know why because I’m not usually attracted to cutesy items, but this one I kind of want!)
I have really been looking forward to this post! Thank you thank you 🙂 I’m definitely ordering this baby… It may not be new or particularly unique, but it sure looks wearable. And I love the packaging!
Most of this collection doesn’t speak to me, but I picked up the banana pudding powder on launch day. It was irresistible… ;P
The palette swatches look very promising, with the obvious exception: Taupe Berry. I do like it, but I’m just not convinced I will need it. But I will be considering it, IF there’s no Sodium Saccharin, of course!
Those lipsticks on the other hand, look painfully DRY and harsh. The only one that doesn’t look so bad is Sweet & Sour.
OMG, the liquid lipsticks are scary! They’re so dry looking, they’re adding like 15 yrs to the lips, yikes
Sugar Plum is super pretty
I’m gonna have to pass on this one. I love Kandee Johnson as a person but this palette just isn’t for me. I have dark skin so those large pans would be unusable for me along with a few other shades. I am interested in that banana pudding powder in this collection but it’s already sold out on the website. Does anyone else feel like all these too faced releases are looking the same now a days? Also, when are they going to start putting out palettes that aren’t food themed lol
Eh… not feeling it for the most part.
I’m sure the eyeshadows swatch well but these are the same colors of the Natural Love palette. Pass. And those lippies look horribly dry. Also not interested in the colors. Just not feeling this collection. I do want the peach matte palette. That so far is the only thing that mildly excites me. I hope things get better but so far this fall holiday season is looking bleak!
I am interested in this just because Kandee collaborated for this palette but those colors are stuff I already have
