I have acquired quite a pile of highlighters this past year, as many of us have. (and I just bought a Charlotte Tilbury filmstar yesterday. ) So unless the reviews make them a covetable item, I must force myself to pass on them. I am officially on highlighter and eyeshadow palette overload.

I have been looking for a cooler-toned highlighter, so Celestial, Moon Phase, or Psychedelic may just fit the bill. I’ll be waiting for the dupes list to make sure I don’t have one already!

I know this isn’t your full review yet but just in case you feel comfortable answering this I thought I’d try to ask. Is the formula of these new MUG highlighters the same/similar to the ones in the Kathleen Lights palette? I tried that palette and while I loved the colors, something about the texture didn’t work for my skin. They were very unforgiving on any imperfections like small blemishes, pores, and texture. I also found that they went on kind of patchy. Are these new highlighters like that at all? Again, sorry to ask such a specific question before your acutal review. I understand if I need to wait for the review post ?

Several of these look lovely, but I’m getting a little frustrated with what looks like a recent hike in MUG price-points. From what used to be an affordable brand, just a little above drugstore prices, $20 for a highlighter seems pretty steep. It’s just a few dollars less than highlighters from The Balm and Urban Decay.

Agree. In fact the Balm goes on sale or Haute Look pretty regularly, so that makes these even more. I know part of the reason for the hike is the packaging MUG has started using. I personally would prefer cardboard packaging or something and a lower price tag.

I agree with you two. I mean, I did buy some of these anyway, but I would prefer if they were like the other MUG items where you had the option to either buy just the pan, or get it in a compact. Especially because if these were just pans, you could build a custom Z-Palette with a highlight, blush, and contour!

Marlena explained it in the video when she previewed them and apparently this is a well expressed issue. Take it for what it is, repeated info, but she said it was the cost involved in the powders etc. they could have made them cheaper but at the cost of quality. I’ve never used MUG, so I can’t say myself.

These look nice. And large. I don’t own anything MUG, no real reason for that but the cost of this highlighter is certainly not what my impression is of MUG cosmetics. I mean, its not terribly expensive but it kind of seems like a real departure from what I thought was more of a budget brand. Feel some kind of way about that, but I suppose it’s all business…

Maybe I’m suffering from highlighter over saturation, but I’m not super excited for these…however I do think it’s great that they came out with a broad range of colours for different skin tones.

The shade range is indeed very nice, but doesn’t really justify the inflated price tag. MUG used to be a very budget-friendly brand, now they try to match with more HE brands. I would prefer shelling out a few more dollars to get theBalm, for example (May-lou Manizer remains my favorite highlighter of all time!), especially after seeing her swatch video. There’s something about it that screams dry to me regarding the powder’s texture.

I purchased all of the duochrome Highlighters except Ablaze.I haven’t worn any of them yet but in the pan Electrify and Lit almost look the same.Psychedelic is very similar in pan to those 2 also if I would have been able to tell that they were going to be that close from the photos on the MUG website and Marlena’s Utube video I wouldn’t of ordered all 3.Hopefully on my face the shift is more noticeable I haven’t swatched mine because I just received them today.I also want Daybreak,Luster, and Rekindle.Midnight Sun’s swatch is gorgeous but I feel like I have a million of that type of gold highlight.
